Flash comes to jailbroken iDevices

Still wondering if you should jailbreak your precious iPhone, iPad or iPod Touch? Still don’t know what exactly the advantages of doing that are?

Well, here’s a big one for you: Flash. Yes, that Flash, which is banned by Apple on its mobile devices.

Developers have hacked around and got it working on the iPhone 4, iPhone 3GS, iPad and iPod Touch. The only prerequisite is, you guessed it, that your device has to be jailbroken.

This was bound to happen sooner or later, and frankly I’m a bit surprised that it took this long. Thing is, no matter how hard you try to control every single aspect of an ecosystem, people will always find ways around every artificial limitation you impose.

This is clearly not something that your mother will jump and do anytime soon, but for those of you who don’t mind a bit of tinkering, or may even enjoy it, the results may be worth it if you want to be able to access websites that are Flash-heavy from your iDevice.

As is always the case with these things, follow the instructions to the letter and understand that things can go wrong. No one is responsible if you brick your device except yourself. Also, don’t forget that jailbreaking, while now legal in the US, does void your warranty.

Safari Download Manager Gets Updated With iPhone 4, iPad Support

Multifl0w for iOS 4 Released, ProSwitcher Later This Week


Multifl0w, the visual multitasking switcher for the iPhone and iPad has just been released with support for iOS 4.

The exposé-like task-switcher for jailbroken iPhones, iPads, and iPod Touches has been has been rewritten for speed, reliability, a redesigned interface, and iOS4. It can even run alongside or replace Apple’s native task switcher. The newest version 2.0.0, can be downloaded from the Cydia Store for $4.99.





For those who don’t want to spend $5, ProSwitcher, the free task-switcher should be released this week according to a tweet by chpwn, the developer. Earlier this week, chpwn wrote a blog on why he wouldn't bring back ProSwitcher.

Zombie Flick 1.0 Released

Full Fat Games has announced a poster of "Mahoney" the Zombie Cop to celebrate Zombie Flick 1.0 being featured on the App Store. Six variants of the poster can be found on the game website for desktop computers, iPad, iPhone and iPhone 4.

Will Skyfire 2.0 bring flash to the iPhone?



This is a first look at the Skyfire 2.0 Mobile Browser for iPhone which will be shortly submitted to Apple for their potential approval. This is not the final version that will be released to the public, just a quick demo of the mobile browser running on iOS4. Skyfire is known for its ability to bring Flash videos to mobile platforms.

Spider-man: Total Mayhem



Shrinking an entire beloved comic book universe down to an iPhone game is a dangerous prospect, but that's just what Spider-Man: Total Mayhem does, allowing you to swing from buildings, battle baddies, and hone your spidey senses on your iPhone.
We haven't gone in deep with Total Mayhem yet, but Matt got a chance to try it out at E3 and says it was "great," and "felt like the console games, but translated."
Early reviewers of the massive game-almost 500MB of Spider-man goodness!-tend to agree, noting that the graphics were silky smooth (befitting of the hero himself). We'll be back with our thoughts once we're done saving New York and crouching pensively on the Chrysler building. $7






Mirrors Edge



One of my first favorite games on the iPad, EA's femme fatale running game Mirror's Edge has made its way to the iPhone, and it's still as fun as ever. It's like Canabalt but way more involved, including various levels and maneuvers that you can send your runner into with a flick of your finger. Looks great on the iPhone 4 and there's plenty of game play, and narrative, to savor as opposed to Canabalt's 'run as far as you can and then try again' model. $5
