CHELSEA and Spurs are haggling over a swap deal involving Shaun
Wright-Phillips and Jermain Defoe. And SunSport can reveal the transfers are
being held up over the valuation of Defoe.

Manchester United are lurking in the wings and are weighing up a bid to sign
Tottenham ace Defoe.

The Blues want a straight swap but Spurs insist their striker is worth SWP
plus around £4million.

Both players have agreed to the switch although the clubs remain at
loggerheads over the details. Chelsea enquired about Defoe, 24, and were
asked if they would consider making winger Wright-Phillips, 25, part of the
deal.

A proposal without cash was put forward and then scuppered by Spurs.

Chelsea Dismiss Wright-Phillips Rumours

Chelsea haved moved to dispel rumours that pacy winger Shaun Wright-Phillips is on his way out of Stamford Bridge.

Wright-Phillips has been in sensational form so far this season for The Blues, possibly his best for the club since moving from Manchester City in 2005 for £21million.

The 25-year-old had previously found it difficult to hold down a first team place at The Bridge, making only 58 appearances for the club, but recent performances have thrust the England star back into the limelight, and into manager Jose Mourinho’s first team plans.

Incredible reports in the morning press suggested that Wright-Phillips would maker a move away from Chelsea in the next few days, in a swap deal with Tottenham.

Jermain Defoe was the player named to go in the opposite direction after his inability to get into the Spurs starting XI, and his inability to get on with manager Martin Jol.
SunSport claimed both players had agreed to the transfer - with just their clubs arguing over the financial details.
It was reported that Chelsea enquired about Defoe, 24, to Spurs, who replied that they would consider releasing him if the Blues included winger Wright-Phillips, 25, as part of any deal.
But late this afternoon, a statement released by Chelsea Football Club categorically dismissed the reports.
The statement read: “Contrary to media reports today, Chelsea Football Club is not in discussions with any club about a possible transfer or swap deal involving Shaun Wriight-Phillips.”

Chelsea In Late Bid For Quaresma


Chelsea are understood to want Porto winger Ricardo Quaresma - and are prepared to offer cash plus a player to get him.


According to a report in today's Sun newspaper, Chelsea manager Jose Mourinho would like to bring Ricardo Quaresma to Stamford Bridge ro strengthen the Blues' attacking options.

But, claims the newspaper, Porto's valuation of £25 million for the winger is well above what Chelsea want to pay.  And with the transfer window closing tomorrow, they have reportedly already offered Paulo Ferreira plus some £8 million  cash to the Portuguese club, Mourinho's previous employers.

Ferreira is another ex-Porto man, as is Ricardo Carvalho.

The Sun reckons Porto are holding out on the Quearesma deal in the hope of getting as much money for the winger as possible.

It was The Sun that yesterday claimed Chelsea had entered into negotiations with Tottenham Hotspur about a possible swap deal involving Shaun Wright-Phillips and Jermain Defoe moving in opposite directions.

Chelsea later issued a statement denying they were looking to transfer Wright-Phillips but according The Sun that is because Spurs are insisting on cash plus the winger for Defoe, and the Blues have consequently turned their

attention towards Quaresma rather than Defoe.

The newspaper reckons that, following the departure of Arjen Robben to Real Madrid, Mourinho is concerned his 4-3-3 formation could be undermined by injuries and wants to bring in attacking cover.

Porto have already sold Brazil defender Pepe to Real Madrid and Anderson to Manchester United this summer for a combined fee of £42 million.  Will Quaresma, 23, be next?  And will he fancy a move to the Premier League?

There are now less than 48 hours for any deal to be struck.

Joe Cole nesiguran u ostanak u Chelseaju

Budućnost Joea Colea u Chelseau je pod velikim znakom pitanja, nakon što se proteklog vikenda sukobio sa menadžerom Joseom Mourinhom. Cole ove sezone još nije započeo nijednu utakmicu od prve minute u dresu Chelsea, iako je za svoju reprezentaciju protiv Njemačke zaigrao u početnoj postavi.

Daily Mail tvrdi kako su se Cole i Mourinho posvađali zbog Coleove uloge u momčadi nakon utakmice protiv Portsmoutha, u kojoj je Cole odigrao posljednih 15 minuta.

Nedostatak minutaže doveo je Colea u situaciju da se zapita ima li za njega mjesta u Mourinhovim planovima ove sezone, na što je Portugalac odgovorio da dosadašnjim igrama nije zaslužio mjesto u prvih jedanaest. List tvrdi da je izbila tak ožestoka svađa, da je kao mirotvorac morao biti pozvan izvršni predsjednik kluba Peter Kenyon.

Unatoč nesporazumu, Chelsea prema nekim izvorima ne želi prodati svog veznjaka, iako bi ga njegov bivši klub West Ham bio spreman dovesti istog trenutka. Cole je u Chelsea došao 2003. godine za 10 milijuna eura, a West Ham je jedini klub koji bi mu u ovom trenutku bio spreman davati plaću od 120 000 eura.
