CENTAF releases airpower summary for Nov. 1

SOUTHWEST ASIA (AFPN) -- U.S. Central Command Air Forces officials have released the airpower summary for Nov. 1.

In Afghanistan Oct. 31, an Air Force Predator conducted a strike against Taliban extremists near Kandahar. The Predator expended a Hellfire missile on enemy targets.

Air Force A-10 Thunderbolt IIs provided close-air support to International Security Assistance Forces, or ISAF, troops in contact with enemy forces near Moladis and Zardad.

French M2000 Mirages provided close-air support to ISAF troops in contact with enemy forces near Sar-e Howz.

In total, 31 close-air-support missions were flown in support of ISAF and Afghan troops, reconstruction activities and route patrols.

Additionally, eight Air Force intelligence, surveillance and reconnaissance, or ISR, aircraft flew missions in support of operations in Afghanistan.

In Iraq, Air Force F-16 Fighting Falcons conducted a strike against anti-Iraqi forces near Abd Al Jalut. The F-16s expended a guided bomb unit-38 and a GBU-12 on enemy targets.

Air Force F-16s also provided close-air support to troops in contact with anti-Iraqi forces near Baghdad, and Air Force F-15E Strike Eagles provided close-air support to troops in contact with anti-Iraqi forces near Baqubah.

In total, coalition aircraft flew 32 close-air-support missions for Operation Iraqi Freedom. These missions included support to coalition troops, infrastructure protection, reconstruction activities and operations to deter and disrupt terrorist activities.

Additionally, 15 Air Force, Navy, Royal Air Force and Royal Australian Air Force ISR aircraft flew missions in support of operations in Iraq. Air Force fighter aircraft performed in non-traditional ISR roles with their electro-optical and infrared sensors.

Air Force C-130 Hercules and C-17 Globemaster IIIs provided intra-theater heavy airlift support, helping sustain operations throughout Afghanistan, Iraq and the Horn of Africa. Close to 150 airlift sorties were flown; nearly 440 tons of cargo was delivered, and nearly 3,730 passengers were transported. This included more than 16,700 pounds of troop re-supply air-dropped in eastern Afghanistan.

Coalition C-130 crews from Australia, Canada, Japan and South Korea flew in support of OIF or OEF.

On Oct. 30, Air Force, RAF and French tankers flew 34 sorties and off-loaded almost 2 million pounds of fuel.

SOUTHWEST ASIA (AFPN) -- U.S. Central Command Air Forces officials have released the airpower summary for Nov. 2.

In Iraq Nov. 1, an Air Force MQ-1 Predator unmanned aerial vehicle and Marine Corps F/A-18 Hornets conducted strikes against anti-Iraqi forces near Ramadi. The Predator expended a Hellfire missile and the F/A-18s expended rockets and cannon rounds on enemy targets.

Royal Air Force GR-4 Tornados and Air Force F-16 Fighting Falcons and F-15E Strike Eagles provided close-air support to troops in contact with anti-Iraqi forces near Baghdad.

Air Force F-16s provided close-air support to troops in contact with anti-Iraqi forces near Hawija.

In total, coalition aircraft flew 35 close-air-support missions for Operation Iraqi Freedom. These missions included support to coalition troops, infrastructure protection, reconstruction activities and operations to deter and disrupt terrorist activities.

Additionally, 15 Air Force, Navy and RAF intelligence, surveillance and reconnaissance, or ISR, aircraft flew missions in support of operations in Iraq.

In Afghanistan, 36 close-air support missions were flown in support of International Security Assistance Force, or ISAF, and Afghan troops, reconstruction activities and route patrols.

Additionally, 10 Air Force and RAF ISR aircraft flew missions in support of operations in Afghanistan.

On Oct. 31, Air Force rescue and medical crews on HH-60 Pave Hawk helicopters flew a medical evacuation mission in support of OEF. One Afghan child with injuries requiring urgent care was evacuated as a result of this mission.

Air Force C-130 Hercules and C-17 Globemaster IIIs provided intra-theater heavy airlift support, helping sustain operations throughout Afghanistan, Iraq and the Horn of Africa. Approximately 150 airlift sorties were flown; more than 410 tons of cargo was delivered, and nearly 4,430 passengers were transported.

On Oct. 31, U.S., RAF and Singaporean tankers flew 31 sorties and off-loaded close to 1.9 million pounds of fuel.

In Afghanistan Nov. 2, Royal Air Force GR-7 Harriers provided close-air support for International Security Assistance Force, or ISAF, troops in contact with Taliban extremists near Hajji Musa.

Air Force A-10 Thunderbolt IIs provided close-air support to ISAF troops in contact with enemy forces near Shemika and Dowlat Shah.

An Air Force B-1B Lancer and Air Force A-10s provided close-air support to ISAF troops in contact with enemy forces near Sangay Ghar.

In total, 26 close-air-support missions were flown in support of ISAF and Afghan troops, reconstruction activities and route patrols.

Additionally, nine Air Force and RAF intelligence, surveillance and reconnaissance, or ISR, aircraft flew missions in support of operations in Afghanistan.

In Iraq, Marine Corps F/A-18 Hornets flew an airstrike against anti-Iraqi forces near Ramadi. The F/A-18s fired rockets on enemy targets.

Air Force F-16 Fighting Falcons provided close-air support to troops in contact with anti-Iraqi forces near At Timm and Ad Duluwah.

Royal Air Force GR-4 Tornados provided close-air support to troops in contact with anti-Iraqi forces Al Taji and Baqubah.

In total, coalition aircraft flew 33 close-air-support missions for Operation Iraqi Freedom. These missions included support to coalition troops, infrastructure protection, reconstruction activities and operations to deter and disrupt terrorist activities.

Additionally, 14 Air Force and Navy ISR aircraft flew missions in support of operations in Iraq.

Additionally, 10 U.S. Air Force and Royal Air Force intelligence, surveillance and reconnaissance, or ISR, aircraft flew missions in support of operations in Afghanistan.

In Iraq, an Air Force Predator conducted a strike against anti-Iraqi forces placing an IED near Balad. The Predator expended a Hellfire missile on enemy targets.

In total, coalition aircraft flew 30 close-air support missions for Operation Iraqi Freedom. These missions included support to Coalition troops, infrastructure protection, reconstruction activities and operations to deter and disrupt terrorist activities.

Additionally, 14 Air Force and Navy ISR aircraft flew missions in support of operations in Iraq.

They flew more than 150 airlift sorties, delivered more than 500 tons of cargo and transported more than 3,080 passengers. This included more than 41,600 pounds of troop re-supply air-dropped in eastern Afghanistan.

In Afghanistan Nov. 5, Air Force F-16 Fighting Falcons and a B-1B Lancer provided close-air support for International Security Assistance Force, or ISAF, troops in contact with Taliban extremists near Gereshk. The B-1 expended guided bomb unit-38s on enemy positions.

Air Force A-10 Thunderbolt IIs provided close-air support to ISAF troops in contact with enemy forces near Now Zad.

In total, 27 close-air-support missions were flown in support of ISAF and Afghan troops, reconstruction activities and route patrols.

Additionally, eight Air Force and Royal Air Force intelligence, surveillance and reconnaissance, or ISR, aircraft flew missions in support of operations in Afghanistan .

In Iraq, Air Force F-16s and F-15E Strike Eagles provided close-air support to troops in contact with anti-Iraqi forces near Baghdad .

Air Force F-16s provided close-air support to troops in contact with anti-Iraqi forces near Tall Afar.

On Nov. 4, Air Force rescue and medical crews on HH-60 Pave Hawk helicopters flew medical evacuation missions in support of OEF. A Canadian military member and an Afghan national policeman with injuries requiring urgent care were evacuated as a result of these missions.

In Afghanistan Nov. 6, Navy F/A-18 Hornets provided close-air support for International Security Assistance Force, or ISAF, troops in contact with Taliban extremists near Qanat-e Hazrat. The F/A-18s expended guided bomb unit-12s and cannon rounds on enemy positions.



An Air Force B-1B Lancer provided close-air support to ISAF troops in contact with enemy forces near Bermel Rod.



In total, 52 close-air-support missions were flown in support of ISAF and Afghan troops, reconstruction activities and route patrols. Air Force fighter aircraft performed in non-traditional intelligence, surveillance and reconnaissance, or ISR, roles with their electro-optical and infrared sensors.



Additionally, nine U.S. and Royal Air Force aircraft flew ISR missions in support of operations in Afghanistan.

The F/A-18s and A-10s expended guided bomb unit -12s; an A-10 expended a general-purpose 500-pound bomb on an enemy position.

Navy F/A-18s provided close-air support to ISAF troops in contact with enemy forces near Armarah. They expended GBU-12s on enemy positions.

In total, 46 close-air-support missions were flown in support of ISAF and Afghan troops, reconstruction activities and route patrols.

Additionally, 11 Air Force and Royal Air Force intelligence, surveillance and reconnaissance, or ISR, aircraft flew missions in support of operations in Afghanistan. U.S. Navy fighter aircraft performed in non-traditional ISR roles with their electro-optical and infrared sensors.

An Air Force B-1B Lancer provided close-air support to ISAF troops in contact with enemy forces near De Michene Ghar. The B-1B dropped GBU-31s on enemy positions.

Royal Air Force GR-7 Harriers provided close-air support for ISAF troops in contact with Taliban extremists near Garmsir.

On Nov. 7, Air Force, RAF, French Air Force and Singaporean tankers flew 38 sorties and off-loaded more than 2.5 million pounds of fuel.

During October, 10 Space Support Requests were supported for OIF, delivering 110 specific effects.

For OEF, 10 SSRs were serviced, delivering 136 specific effects
