SOUTHWEST ASIA (AFPN) -- In Afghanistan Oct. 13, U.S. Navy F/A-18s provided close-air support for International Security Assistance Force, or ISAF, troops in contact with Taliban extremists near Now Zad.

Air Force A-10 Thunderbolt IIs provided close-air support to ISAF troops in contact with enemy forces near Anbar Tappeh.

In total, 44 close- air- support missions were flown in support of ISAF and Afghan troops, reconstruction activities and route patrols.

Additionally, 11 Air Force and Royal Air Force intelligence, surveillance and reconnaissance, or ISR aircraft flew missions in support of operations in Afghanistan.

In Iraq, Air Force F-16 Fighting Falcons provided close-air support to troops in contact with anti-Iraqi forces near Baghdad and Al Musayyib.

Air Force F-15E Strike Eagles provided close-air support to troops in contact with anti-Iraqi forces near Khan Bani Sa'd and Al Hawijah.

In total, coalition aircraft flew 43 close-air-support missions for Operation Iraqi Freedom. These missions included support to coalition troops, infrastructure protection, reconstruction activities and operations to deter and disrupt terrorist activities.

Additionally, 13 Air Force, Navy and RAF ISR aircraft flew missions in support of operations in Iraq. Air Force fighter aircraft performed in non-traditional ISR roles with their electro-optical and infrared sensors.

On Oct. 12, Air Force rescue and medical crews on HH-60 Pave Hawk helicopters flew a medical evacuation mission in support of OEF. Two local nationals with injuries requiring urgent care were evacuated as a result of this mission.

Air Force C-130 Hercules and C-17 Globemaster IIIs provided intra-theater heavy airlift support, helping sustain operations throughout Afghanistan, Iraq and the Horn of Africa. Nearly 150 airlift sorties were flown; more than 410 tons of cargo was delivered, and more than 3,320 passengers were transported. This included about 15,000 pounds of troop re-supply air-dropped in eastern Afghanistan.

Coalition C-130 crews from Australia, Canada, Japan and South Korea flew in support of OIF or OEF.

On Oct. 12, Air Force, RAF, French and Singaporean tankers flew 35 sorties and off-loaded more than 2.2 million pounds of fuel.

SOUTHWEST ASIA (AFPN) -- U.S. Central Command Air Forces officials have released the airpower summary for Oct. 16.

In Afghanistan Oct. 15, French Mirage 2000Ds and an Air Force B1-B Lancer provided close air support to International Security Assistance Force, or ISAF, troops in contact with enemy forces near Gangikhel. The B1-Bs expended guided bomb unit-38s and GBU-31s on enemy positions.

In total, 44 close-air support missions were flown in support of ISAF and Afghan troops, reconstruction activities and route patrols.

Additionally, nine Air Force, Navy and Royal Air Force intelligence, surveillance and reconnaissance, or ISR, aircraft flew missions in support of operations in Afghanistan .
In Iraq , Air Force F-16 Fighting Falcons provided close-air support to troops in contact with anti-Iraqi forces near Samarra .

RAF GR-4 Tornados provided close-air support to troops in contact with anti-Iraqi forces near Kirkuk .

On October 14, Air Force rescue and medical crews on HH-60 Pave Hawk helicopters flew a medical evacuation mission in support of OEF. One Afghan patient with injuries requiring urgent care was evacuated as a result of this mission.

On Oct. 15, Air Force rescue and medical crews on HH-60 Pave Hawk helicopters flew a medical evacuation mission in support of OEF. Two Afghan children with injuries requiring urgent care were evacuated as a result of this mission.

Air Force C-130 Hercules and C-17 Globemaster IIIs provided intra-theater heavy airlift support, helping sustain operations throughout Afghanistan , Iraq and the Horn of Africa. Approximately 175 airlift sorties were flown; more than 388 tons of cargo were delivered, and nearly 4,320 passengers were transported. This included about 21,000 pounds of troop re-supply air-dropped in eastern Afghanistan .

Coalition C-130 crews from Australia and Canada flew in support of OIF or OEF.

On Oct.14, Air Force, RAF, French and Singaporean tankers flew 37 sorties and off-loaded almost 2.4 million pounds of fuel.

In Afghanistan Oct. 17, Royal Air Force Harrier GR-7s conducted a strike against Taliban extremists near Gereshk. The GR-7s expended rockets on enemy targets.

RAF GR-7s provided close-air support to International Security Assistance Force, or ISAF, troops in contact with enemy forces near Gereshk. The GR-7s expended an Enhanced Paveway II munition on an enemy position.

An Air Force B-1 Lancer provided close-air support to ISAF troops in contact with enemy forces near Bez Bel. The B-1 expended Guided Bomb Unit-31s and GBU-38s on enemy positions.

An Air Force B-1 provided close-air support for ISAF troops in contact with Taliban extremists near Gol Kowt.

In Iraq, Air Force F-15E Strike Eagles provided close-air support to troops in contact with anti-Iraqi forces near Baghdad.

In total, coalition aircraft flew 34 close air support missions for Operation Iraqi Freedom. These missions included support to coalition troops, infrastructure protection, reconstruction activities and operations to deter and disrupt terrorist activities.

Additionally, 13 Air Force, Army, RAF and Royal Australian air force ISR aircraft flew missions in support of operations in Iraq.

Air Force C-130 Hercules and C-17 Globemaster IIIs provided intra-theater heavy airlift support, helping sustain operations throughout Afghanistan, Iraq and the Horn of Africa. Approximately 150 airlift sorties were flown; more than 350 tons of cargo was delivered, and some 3,190 passengers were transported.

Coalition C-130 crews from Australia, Canada, Japan and Korea flew in support of OIF or OEF.

On Oct. 24, Air Force, RAF and French tankers flew 36 sorties and off-loaded more than 2.3 million pounds of fuel.

CENTAF releases airpower summary for Oct. 30

SOUTHWEST ASIA (AFPN) -- U.S. Central Command Air Forces officials have released the airpower summary for Oct. 30.

In Afghanistan Oct. 29, Air Force A-10 Thunderbolt IIs provided close-air support for International Security Assistance Force, or ISAF, troops in contact with Taliban extremists near Kajah Ulva. The A-10s expended cannon rounds, a guided bomb unit-12 and a general-purpose 500-pound bomb on enemy positions.

An Air Force B1-B Lancer provided close-air support to ISAF troops in contact with enemy forces near Shami Kabol.

In total, 34 close-air-support missions were flown in support of ISAF and Afghan troops, reconstruction activities and route patrols.
