Monsanto Put on Trial for Crimes against Humanity in The Hague

The Organic Consumers Association (OCA), IFOAM International Organics, Navdanya, Regeneration International (RI), and Millions Against Monsanto, joined by dozens of global food, farming and environmental justice groups announced today that they will put Monsanto MON (NYSE), a US-based transnational corporation, on trial for crimes against nature and humanity, and ecocide, in The Hague, Netherlands, next year on World Food Day, October 16, 2016.

Since the beginning of the twentieth century according to the groups, Monsanto has developed a steady stream of highly toxic products which have permanently damaged the environment and caused illness or death for thousands of people. These products include:

• PCBs (polychlorinated biphenyl), one of the 12 Persistent Organic Pollutants (POP) that affect human and animal fertility;

• 2,4,5 T (2,4,5-trichlorophenoxyacetic acid), a dioxin-containing component of the defoliant, Agent Orange, which was used by the US Army during the Vietnam War and continues to cause birth defects and cancer;

• Lasso, an herbicide that is now banned in Europe;

• and RoundUp, the most widely used herbicide in the world, and the source of the greatest health and environmental scandal in modern history. This toxic herbicide, designated a probable human carcinogen by the World Health Organization, is used in combination with genetically modified (GM) RoundUp Ready seeds in large-scale monocultures, primarily to produce soybeans, maize and rapeseed for animal feed and biofuels.

Relying on the “Guiding Principles on Business and Human Rights” adopted by the UN in 2011, an international court of lawyers and judges will assess the potential criminal liability of Monsanto for damages inflicted on human health and the environment. The court will also rely on the Rome Statute that created the International Criminal Court in The Hague in 2002, and it will consider whether to reform international criminal law to include crimes against the environment, or ecocide, as a prosecutable criminal offense. The International Criminal Court, established in 2002 in The Hague, has determined that prosecuting ecocide as a criminal offense is the only way to guarantee the rights of humans to a healthy environment and the right of nature to be protected.

The announcement was made at a press conference held in conjunction with the COP21 United Nations Conference on Climate Change, November 30 – December 11, in Paris.

Speaking at the press conference, Ronnie Cummins, international director of the OCA (US) and Via Organica (Mexico), and member of the RI Steering Committee, said: “The time is long overdue for a global citizens’ tribunal to put Monsanto on trial for crimes against humanity and the environment. We are in Paris this month to address the most serious threat that humans have ever faced in our 100-200,000 year evolution—global warming and climate disruption. Why is there so much carbon dioxide, methane and nitrous oxide in the atmosphere and not enough carbon organic matter in the soil? Corporate agribusiness, industrial forestry, the garbage and sewage industry and agricultural biotechnology have literally killed the climate-stabilizing, carbon-sink capacity of the Earth’s living soil.”

Andre Leu, president of IFOAM and a member of the RI Steering Committee, said: “Monsanto is able to ignore the human and environmental damage caused by its products, and maintain its devastating activities through a strategy of systemic concealment: by lobbying regulatory agencies and governments, by resorting to lying and corruption, by financing fraudulent scientific studies, by pressuring independent scientists, and by manipulating the press and media. Monsanto’s history reads like a text-book case of impunity, benefiting transnational corporations and their executives, whose activities contribute to climate and biosphere crises and threaten the safety of the planet.”

Marie-Monique Robin, journalist and author of the best-selling documentary (and book by the same name), “The World According Monsanto,” said: “This International Citizens’ Tribunal is necessary because the defense of the safety of the planet and the conditions of life on Earth is everyone’s concern. Only through a collective resurgence of all living forces will we stop the engine of destruction. That’s why today I am calling on all citizens of the world to participate in this exemplary tribunal.”

Also speaking at the conference were Valerie Cabanes, lawyer and spokesperson for End Ecocide on Earth; Hans Rudolf Herren, president and CEO of the Millennium Institute, president and founder of Biovision, and member of the RI Steering Committee; Arnaud Apoteker, creator of the anti-GMO campaign in France, which became one of the priority campaigns of Greenpeace France, and author of “Fish in Our Strawberries: Our Manipulated Food;” and Olivier De Schutter, co-chair of the International Panel of Experts on Sustainable Food Systems (IPESFood) and former UN Special Rapporteur on the Right to Food.

Све врсте генетски модификованих организама (ГМО) су отровне како за људе, тако и за животиње. Ова вест је као бомба одјекнула у Паризу, а пренео ју је немачки портал Инфокоп. Суд у француској престоници прихватио је резултате храбрих истраживача, на чијем челу је био професор Жил-Ерик Сералини, који су дошли до ових ужасних сазнања.

„Ради се о великој правној победи заступника науке и разума над Монсантом. У стручним круговима се сматра да ће одлука француског суда имати глобални значај и да ће помоћи да се свет ослободи чудовишта у лику генетски модификованих организама. Уколико се то деси, мукотрпан и тајни рад Сералинија и његових сарадника окупљених око организације CRIIGEN (Комитет за независно истраживање и информације о генској техници), добиће пуну сатисфакцију“ истиче немачки портал и додаје да наука на крају ипак тријумфује над преварама и корупцијом.

Високи суд у Паризу је 6. новембра ове године објавио пресуду која каже да је „професор Марк Фело, некадашњи председник француске Комисије за биомолекуларну технику (CGB), крив због фалсификовања резултата и примене лажних резултата које је користио у процесу против професора Сералинија“. Висина казне биће саопштена почетком идуће године. CGB је комисија француског министарства пољопривреде, позната као жесток заговорник ГМО и захваљујући њеном раду у Француској је одобрена примена многих генетски модификованих биљних врста.

Сералини и његов тим нису се с тим мирили и пуне две године у великој тајности су радили на свом пројекту јер су били свесни колико је Монсанто опасан противник. Истраживање на више од 200 лабораторијских животиња дало је поражавајуће резултате (бар по Монсантов производ) јер је установљен алармантан број канцерогених обољења, тешких оштећења органа и прераних смрти код пацова храњених овим кукурузом. По окончању истраживања, Сералини је резултате дао независним истраживачима, који су их испитали и верификовали, након чега су објављени у септембру 2012. године у познатом научном часопису „Фуд анд хемикал технолоџи“. Одмах након тога кренула је бесомучна кампања против аутора студије, а у јануару прошле године је часопис „Фуд анд хемикал технолоџи“ саопштио да повлачи његов чланак с невероватним образложењем да „закључци нису јасни“.

Кампања против Сералинија

Само неколико сати након изласка Сералинијеве студије у септембру 2012. почела је оркестрирана медијска кампања њених аутора у којој су, без икаквих аргумената, коришћене опробане методе. Тражено је да се студија одбаци као научно неоснована, уз апсурдне тврдње да је „Сералини користио погрешне пацове“. Корумпирана комисија за ГМО у ЕУ покушала је да забрани даље ширење студије Сералинија, а њено тело EFSA је осудила студију, иако сама није спровела никакву проверу исте.

Непосредно пре тога, часопис је као „заменика уредника за биотехнологију“, позицију која до тада у листу није постојала, поставио Ричарда Е. Гудмана, раније запосленог у Монсанту. Једна од првих „уредничких“ акција Гудмана била је да повуче чланак Сералинија као „неоснован“.

Међутим, 30. марта ове године „Фуд анд хемикал технолоџи“ је добио нове издаваче, који су Гудмана одмах отпустили. Немачки онлајн научни часопис „Европска наука о животној средини“, који припада Шпрингер групи, поново је објавио Сералинијев рад.

Он и његов тим су, иначе, наставили своја истраживања и студије на пацовима и недвосмислено потврдили да су све врсте ГМО су отровне како за људе, тако и за животиње.

Putin wants Russia to become world's biggest exporter of Non-GMO food

Russia could become the world's largest supplier of ecologically clean and high-quality organic food, said President Vladimir Putin on Thursday. He also called on the country to become completely self-sufficient in food production by 2020.

"We are not only able to feed ourselves taking into account our lands, water resources – Russia is able to become the largest world supplier of [b]healthy, ecologically clean and high-quality food which the Western producers have long lost, especially given the fact that demand for such products in the world market is steadily growing[/b]," said Putin, addressing the Russian Parliament on Thursday.

According to the President, Russia is now an exporter, not an importer of food.

"Ten years ago, we imported almost half of the food from abroad, and were dependent on imports. Now Russia is among the exporters. Last year, Russian exports of agricultural products amounted to almost $20 billion - a quarter more than the revenue from the sale of arms, or one-third the revenue coming from gas exports," he said.

Putin said that all this makes Russia fully capable of supplying the domestic market with home-grown food by 2020.

In September, the Kremlin decided against producing food products containing genetically modified organisms (GMOs).

Russia imposed an embargo on the supply of products from the EU and the United States as a response to Western sanctions. After Turkey shot down Russian Su-24 bomber, Russian authorities decided to ban the import of fruit, vegetables and poultry from Turkey. The ban will take effect from January 1.

Scientist Challenges Monsanto: $10 Million If You Can Prove Me Wrong About GMOs

Shiva Ayyadurai is offering to give the Monsanto company a $10 million building if they can disprove his claims about GMO regulations.

MIT graduate Shiva Ayyadurai’s offer is simple.

If the Monsanto Company can disprove his claim that there are “no safety assessment standards” for genetically modified organisms (GMO), he will give the agro-giant a $10 million building that he owns in Cambridge, Massachusetts.

That’s how strongly the inventor believes in the alleged danger of unregulated GMOs.

Ayyadurai - who engaged in a well-publicized spiritual ceremony with actress Fran Drescher and holds the first U.S. copyright for “email” - confirmed the details of his $10 million challenge via an exclusive interview with Patch on Thursday.

Ayyadurai’s multi-million dare to Monsanto - one of the world’s largest producers of GMOs - revolves around his alleged discovery of the accumulation of high levels of formaldehyde in GMO-engineered plants, and his resulting shock that “acceptable standards for testing” do not exist.

Ayyadurai asserted his position in a paper published in Agricultural Sciences, a peer-reviewed trade journal.

“This is not a pro- or anti-GMO question,” Ayyadurai wrote in his abstract. “But [rather], are we following the scientific method to ensure the safety of our food supply? Right now, the answer is no. But we need to, and we can if we engage in open, transparent and collaborative scientific discourse, based on a systems approach.”

Here is Ayyadurai’s official challenge to the Monsanto Company, as told to Patch:

“If Monsanto can disprove the fact that there are no safety assessment standards for GMOs, the conclusion of our fourth paper, then I will give them my $10 million building.”

Слободна трговина ГМО производима у Србији услов за ступање у СТО и ЕУ


Услов за СТО, али и за чланство у ЕУ, јесте уклањање отворене забране промета генетски модификованих производа, док узгој може бити и забрањен, навео је у разговору са новинарима извор министарства трговине.



На скупу о значају чланства у СТО за приступање ЕУ речено је и да Србија има начине да се заштити од прилива ГМ производа разним мерама, попут сложених процедура за регистрацију.

Извор из Министарства трговине навео је да Србија може да уведе висок ниво заштите попут ЕУ, у којој се гаји само једна ГМ култура у само пет земаља, а могућност званичне забране узгоја искористило је 19 земаља, од чега 17 на целој територији.

На питање да ли је могуће да нека чланица СТО којој је промет ГМО значајан тражи од Србије да снизи стандарде заштите, у Министарству трговине наводе да би Србија као земља кандидат за чланство у ЕУ могла да добије и помоћ Брисела за решавање тог проблема.

Како наводи извор из тог министарства, Србији је на путу ка ЕУ остало још да заврши преговоре са Украјином и Бразилом, за шта има изгледа да ће бити окончани без великих проблема, док су у преговорима са САД завршена разна сложена питања, али је за ту земљу важно усвајање закона о ГМ.

Приступање СТО је важно за привлачење инвеститора јер пружа предвидљивост и ефикасан начин решавања спорова, а кључни је елемент и за поглавље 30 у преговорима са ЕУ, у којем се обрађују економски односи са иностранством, наводе представници Исак (ИСАЦ) фонда који сутра у Београду организује конференцију Приступање Србије СТО и процесу преговора са ЕУ.

Извештај са скрининга за поглавље 30 још није јавно доступан, а није донета одлука о томе да ли ће бити постављен услов за његово отварање.

У Исак фонду наводе да је у овом поглављу нема много посла када земља приступи СТО, јер приступањем усваја кључне елементе прописа које примењује ЕУ.

Zar psihopate tako zamisljaju "slobodnu trgovinu", uz koju cesto ide i fraza "sloboda i demokratija"? Tako sto se nesto "MORA"? Pa gde je tu sloboda?

Prvo ste promovisali unistenje obradive zemlje hemijom (zbog niske cene), a sada pravite frankenstajn organizme koji mogu da zive i pod nuklearnom radijacijom!? I jos, kao slag na tortu, izjednacavate GMO i organsku hranu! Koliko ljudi ce umreti, oboleti, to su samo brojke na racunu i izvor profita...nebitno.

Tacno se nekad zamislim oko vracanja smrtne kazne...
