STARGATE WORLDS


Cheyenne Mountain Entertainment su objavili pet novih screenshotova iz igre Stargate Worlds, predstojeceg MMORPG naslova na Unreal Engine 3 pogon.

Nick Heitzman je uz screenshotove dodao i objašnjenja šta se na njima vidi, tako da ce fanovi ove TV serije imati cemu da se raduju

Besplatno igranje Railroad Tycoon DLX


Kompanija 2K Games je u svrhu promovisanja najnovijeg nastavka igre Sid Meier’s Railroads, primenila oproban recept i za besplatno preuzimanje omogućila proširenu verziju Sid Meier-ove Railroad Tycoon Deluxe, druge igre iz ove serije koja je originalno izdata 1990-te godine. Deluks edicija sadrži dodatne scenarije i podešavanja, nešto poboljšanu (ali ipak za današnje uslove dosta pikselizovanu) grafiku i naravno nekoliko dodatnih tipova vozova kojima se može upravljati. Arhiva koja je veličine 14MB se može preuzeti lokalno i uključuje DOS verziju igre, DOSbox v0.65 emulator i uputstvo za igru u PDF formatu.

If you're reading this article, you're likely a hardcore videogame fan. You read message boards, and you're not afraid to tell developers what they're screwing up. I'm here to tell you that if you're a member of a specific videogame's community, your opinion should be ignored. Your thoughts must be digested - it's hard to ignore loud screaming - but discarded. It sounds harsh and definitely won't be a popular opinion, but the most dangerous thing a developer can do is listen to his hardcore community.
The hardcore can and have led developers astray. Before a game undergoes production, developers write what's called a design document. Detailing various technical and operational aspects of a game, it functions as the team's battle plan, but it's hardly a static document. It is fluid, evolving as development progresses. It is on the strength or weakness of these documents that good or bad games are born.

Too often, though, perfectly good games get confused, turned around and bashed over the head by those who claim to love them most. It's tragic, really. They enter beta, with all their bright ideas and shiny new toys and then some 14-year-old screams, "This sucks!" At a company with strong leadership and vision, this is read, digested and considered, but rarely do they succumb to the mighty weight of one 14-year-old and a few of his buddies. At a not-so-steady company, a post or 10 like that can be fatal.

GEARS OF WAR - NE STIŽE NA PC?

Microsoft public relations su odlucili da demantuju glasine da se sprema Gears of War za PC platformu.

Here's what happened: These images were created using draft templates for the Games for Windows box art and a variety of Microsoft Game Studios cover images. Gears of War was accidentally included by the artist as one of the MGS titles used as examples to show what our retail setup would look like. This DOES NOT indicate a confirmation that Gears of Wars will be a Games for Windows title -- it was a concept image created by a concept artist, nothing more. In fact, if you look closely you’ll also see that Age of Empires III and Rise of Legends are also branded Games for Windows, and this is not actually the case (Age of Empires III: The Warchiefs is a Games for Windows branded game, but not the original Age III).
We created this image around the E3 timeframe when we were first preparing to announce and show our Games for Windows retail efforts. Shortly after the insanity that is E3, we noticed the box art, and the image was supposed to be removed from circulation. When we provided the package of art assets to PC Gamer for their cover story, we zipped up a directory of our already-public E3 assets as well as more current images (many of which PC Gamer did not use). Unfortunately, we didn't realize that this image was in that directory, and it just happens to be the one that PC Gamer figured prominently in their story. Our bad.

Gears of War je do sada isporucen u oko milion primeraka što ga cini najbitnijom igrom trenutno za Xbox 360 ( bar dok ne stigne Halo 3 ). Tako da ne cudi što su Microsoft izjavili da ova igra ne stiže na PC. Ne žele da ugroze prodaju Gears of War, a samim tim i Xbox 360 konzole.
Svojevremeno su iz Microsofta demantovali da ce se pojaviti i HD-DVD dodatak za Xbox 360, pa se taj dodatak pojavio u prodaji.

ActionTrip su sproveli intervju sa Rich Wickhamom, direktorom Games for Windows, koji je otkrio šta igraci mogu da ocekuju od Windows Vista operativnog sistema.

ActionTrip: We wanted to know more about future Vista and Xbox 360 compatibility. Could you offer us a more detailed insight on the way users will be able to connect their home PCs with their Xbox 360 units?
Rich Wickham: As you know, you currently can use your Xbox 360 as an extender with your Media Center PC. That integration is tighter in Windows Vista, and I think you'll see more and more folks connecting their devices on home networks. At home, I stream my photos and music from my PC to my Xbox 360, which is very cool.

Of course, we're also bringing Live to Windows Vista in 2007. Windows gamers will experience Live in titles like "Shadowrun," "Halo 2 for Windows Vista" and " Marvel Online." "Shadowrun" will support cross-platform play between Windows Vista and Xbox 360. I've played "Shadowrun" on Windows Vista against folks on Xbox 360 ? it's a lot of fun, and as you can imagine, there's plenty of Windows vs. console smack talk. We're also working closely with third party developers to make sure there are a broad variety of Games for Windows titles supporting Live in the future.
ActionTrip: Recent tests and benchmarks indicated that a great number of classic PC games run pretty well on Windows Vista. Are you worried about potential compatibility issues with older software?

Rich Wickham: I don't think compatibility concerns should keep a gamer from upgrading to Windows Vista, even from day 1. We've been testing hundreds of games for Windows Vista compatibility for more than a year now. We're very happy with the results so far, and we'll keep working and engaging with our software and hardware partners to make sure we address any issues.

GRAN TURISMO HIGH DEFINITION

Gran Turismo HD je u suštini graficki poboljšana verzija starog Gran Turismo 4. Poliphony Digital ce ovaj naslov završiti pocetkom 2007.

Ghost Recon: Advanced Warfighter

Kompanija Ubisoft se drži dosta tiho kada je u pitanju nastavak igre Ghost Recon: Advanced Warfighter, koju je obelodanila pre nešto manje od godinu dana u jednom od finasijskih izveštaja kompanije. Nema ništa čudno da kompanija ne obelodanjuje neke detalje o igrama koje nisu tako blizu izdavanju, ali ova bi trebala da se pojavi u martu ili aprilu sledeće godine, pa je malo iznenađujuće što nema nikakvih vesti o njoj. Od onoga što se zna o igri izdvojićemo da će se kao i prvi deo dešavati na američko meksičkoj granici i da će pokrivati događaje u trajanju od 72 časa.

Imal' nade za STALKER-a?
Igra najavljena pre nekoliko godina,jos u razoju, al kad ce izaci nije sasvim sigurno (neki bi cak rekli da izlazi kad i Duke Nukem Forever ili Resident evil 4 za PC). Gamespotovci su bili do Kijeva i probali single i multiplayer deo igre a usput i popricali sa developerima. Tekst procitajte ovde.
