There are more emoticons then are available in the Symbol menu. Try typing the following (without spaces):

how to MMS with SE:
Messaging -> Write new -> Picture msg -> click More (right button above clear button) -> Insert item -> insert Picture/Text/Sound/Video/Camera picture/Video recording/Sound recording/Page (if you want to have more pages in your MMS)

email settings for SE:
Messaging -> Email -> Settings -> New account -> write any name you want -> Connect using (GPRS, CSD,...) -> Protocol is POP3 -> Incoming server: the server where you have pop3 provider (pop.xxx.com) -> Incoming port is 110 -> Encryption: No encryption -> Mailbox: your mail account name -> Password: your mail account password -> Outgoing server: ask for it @ your operater's call center -> Outgoing port is 25 -> Email address: your email addres -> Download: headers only -> From name: this name displays when you sand an email -> Signature/Copy outgoing/Check interval are optional(i have this 3 off)

Please read the instructions before attempt to do this!
Use at your own risk!

Go to Menu -> Settings -> Master Reset -> Reset All -> Confirm -> Type your Security Code (should be 0000) -> And hit your Stopwatch

Count till' 27,5 Seconds
And remove your battery exact at that time!

Now wait about 30 seconds and put your battery back in and let your phone boot
It should work really slow.
Just wait till it's booted.
Now turn it off again but with the "no"-button, is should react slow when it want to turn off just stay relaxed.
When it's off you can turn it on and everything should work as normal but without your Operator installed Wallpaper, Screensaver, Ringtone, Startup&Shutdown screen, Icons.

HOW-TO: Delete predefined pictures from your T610   


1.if you've already started your phone before, do a master reset, reset all (backup all the pictures you want to keep on ur pc or something)

2. after master reset, and the main screen appears with "calls" and "more", go into your settings menu.

3. go to "display" then "wallpaper" and then "set picture"
(NOTE: it's important that this is the FIRST time you've headed into the next screen, also its VERY important that you do not wait on the next screen, else the pictures will load)

4. here's where u gotta be fast... press UP quickly so it goes to the bottom of the default picture list, all the pictures should just be thumbnail timers (they are still loading). QUICKLY press the left soft key loads of times until you delete ALL the pictures.

5. this will try and open the pictures, but fail.. "cannot open item, delete item?" pressing the left soft key deletes it, the reason you go to the bottom is cos all the default pics are at the bottom.

6. your phone WILL slow down, but keep pressing the left soft key, if you're too slow, one of the images will load, and your phone will set it as wallpaper... dont worry though, as long as it's not a default (predifined) image u can delete it anyway.

The only thing i couldn't remove is the ORANGE THEME. - not sure how but i guess it doesn't bother me that much since i hardly ever change my theme.

HOW-TO: Removing predefined items       

This trick is to remove ALL predefined items, and if done correctly, you will have lots of extra space leftover!

1. Do a master reset on the phone.

2. When the phone restarts make sure the automatic keylock never activate!! If this happens you'll have to start all over again. (I don't know why) To ensure it doesn't happen deactivate automatic keylock.

3. Deactivate background picture, screensaver and the welcome message.

4. Create a simple theme without any pictures, only colors and activate it. I used the default settings in Theme Creator Pro3G (or whatever the name is).

5. Go to the Games menu and select a game. Click More and go to the memorystatus screen.

6. Now you'll have to fill up the phones memory completly. I created a large file in notepad, named it test1.thm and transfered it to the phone. Then I renamed it, adjusted the size and send it again and again and again...
...until it said Free memory: 0kb. Then I trasfered a 1 byte file a couple of times just to be sure it was completely full.

7. Now open the My pictures folder. The phone will try to create thumbnails of the pre-stored pictures but will fail since there's no memory left. Just click OK to the error message and then the backbutton. Do this until all pictures has an 'X' as a thumbnail exept the flower, clock and the vodafone animation. These will have a hourglass instead.

8. Go to the phonebook. Create a contact named 'X' and try to assign a picture to it. I started with the animation.
When you select a picture the phone will say something like 'Unable to open picture. Delete?'. Just choose Yes and the picture is gone.
Then select the next picture and so on.

9. When all the pictures are gone, reactivate the background, screensaver, auto keylock and set the welcome message to standard. Restart the phone and your done.

HOW-TO: Install IrDa adapter on WinXP or Win2K       

Win2k is VERY similar to XP both in features and interface. No matter what adapter ya'll get, follow these steps:

1. Try to know your adapter's model no. and go to its website, then download its driver.

2. Save the driver to yor hard disk

3. Go to Control Panel, select Add/Remove Hardware. The Add/Remove Hardware Wizard will appear. Click Next

4. Select Add/Troubleshoot a device, click Next

5. After the hardware detection process, select Add a new device, click Next

6. Select No, I want to select the hardware from a list, click Next

7. Select Infrared devices for the type of hardware you want to install, click Next

8. When the Select Infrared Device appear, click Have Disk

9. Choose the [adpater model no.].inf in the directory created at above

10. Continue to choose "blablabla Serial Infrared Device" and click Next

11. Select the proper physical connection (COM1 or COM2) and click Next. This port selection must correspond to the actual IrDA adapter physical connection

The next couple of steps will verify if you've done everything OK:

+1. Go to Control Panel, click System

+2. Select the Device Manager under Hardware page to check if Infrared devices is present and click it to check if "blablabla Serial Infrared Device" is present

+3. Double click the Mobile Action "blablabla Serial Infrared Device", when XYZ Serial Infrared Device Properties appear, select IrDA Settings page and set the Maximum Connection Rate to be xxxx (you'll have to experiment this), click OK

If everything goes well, you have a Phone-PC connection without any of the friggin sync softwares!!

For WinXP users: switch to "Classic view" first, only then my walkthru makes sense...

When you put yor phone in the right position (make sure that the diode on the adapter is lit) with the IR turned on in the phone. Then you'll see the red diode flashing on the adapter, you'll get some sort of sound, and a nice lil icon on yor Taskbar. Double-click on that, and you can choose what filez to send to yor mobile, and all sorts of Properties menus are reachable from this icon too. Of corz, it detects automatically, and asks you if you want to accept the transfer when yor sending stuff from yor mobile to yor PC...

HOW-TO: Connect T610 to XP in BT for Outlook synchro       

After 3 days of test on how to connect my T610 to windows XP, to do synchonization with Outlook, I found a way to do it.

After pairing the T610 and XP :

<1> In your BT dongle setting
- Local services : create a serial port (i.e. on COM 4)
- Client Application : create a serial port (i.e on COM 10)

<2> In Mobile Phone Monitor, in "COM Ports"
- put the "COM 4" in Disable
- put the "COM 10" in Enable and Reserved

<3> In Mobile Phone Monitor, in "Setup"
- Choose "Only display the icon when a phone ...."
- Choose "Allow synchronizing of the PC and ..."

<4> In XTNDConnect PC
- Choose "Automatic Synchronization"

Wait about 30 seconds or less, and a new Menu will apear  
And the MPM icon will apear on the bottom of your screen  
Of course the others softwares will recognize the T610.
Except the BTcontrolXP, and I don't know still why.

Now I can synchronize T610 and Outlook, I don't know how to change the XTNDConnect settings to choose wich of T610 or Outlook will replace the informations of the other. If someone had the solution ...

HOW-TO: Get Mobile Phone Monitor to work via data cable       
with a data cable you can't copy files from the phone to the pc, but you can from the pc to the phone. i got a T310 and a SE data cable (RS232 cable DRS-11). this is how i got things to work:

i've downloaded and installed MyPictures from:
http://clubsonyericsson.com/en/software_windows.htm

MyPictures installs Mobile Phone Monitor too, so you don't
have to care about that. (rebooting the system is necessary)
start the program and select Send file to phone from File menu.
a dialog box will appear, and it will start to search for the
connected phone. if no phone is found, it will bring up the
connection wizard where you have to specify the name for
your device and sim card. from now on these options will be
stored by MPM. btw you can use control panel \ phone monitor
options to modify these names. the Send file dialog box will
notify you if the phone is found and connected.

you can also use SendFile from Christersson.org, but note, that it takes about 30 secs to detect whether your phone is connected or not.

When you can use the zoom is depending on what picture size you've selected. When the zoom functionality is available a magnifying glass appears in the top of the display. Use the navigation key, up/down, to zoom.

You need to get all information from your (a) Internet Service Provider and (b) Mobile Service Operator. In setting up an account, you need to have the following:

1. Your user name (example : username)
2. Your password (example : password)
3. Your email address (example : username@myisp.com)
4. Your ISP's incoming (POP) mail server (example : pop.myisp.com)
5. Your mobile service operator's outgoing (SMTP) mail server (example : smtp.cellular.com)
6. Your mobile service provider's "Internet" Data comm account (example : Cellular Internet)**

To set-up on your T610 based on the above information, do the following:

Messaging->Email->Options->Edit account->New account ....

Under account name : MyISP Mail ->Ok
Connect using : Choose the Data comm account from #6 above
Protocol : POP3 if POP or IMAP4 if IMAP4 type of account you have
Incoming server : pop.myisp.com ->Ok
Incoming port : 110 ->Ok
Mailbox : username ->Ok
Password : password ->Ok
Outgoing server : smtp.cellular.com ->Ok
Outgoing port : 25 ->Ok
E-mail address : username@myisp.com ->Ok
Leave all others as is then press "Save"
Go back to "Options" then "Set account" then choose "MyISP Mail"

That's it. Turn off your phone then turn it back on. Test your email.

I noticed that there are a lot of people asking about Floats Mobile Agent and connectivity using the said software. I decided to post a short guide to help members. So here goes ....

FMA is a Phonebook Manager, SMS Manager, Mobile Phone Monitor, Remote Control Agent (via Scripts), Profiles Manager, and OBEX File Manager.

You need to do the following things in order to get BT to work (on Windows XP).

1. First, check your BT setting on serial ports. Open My Bluetooth Places, click on View or modify configuration, click on the Tab called Client Applications, at the bottom of the list, you should see Bluetooth Serial Port and the COM number. Take note of this COM number and close the Bluetooth configuration and BT places.

2. Next, open FMA. click on Tools, then Options. Click on the tab Connections and choose "Use Serial Port." In the Serial Port Setup, choose the Connect port to be the COM port number you have seen in #1 above. Baudrate should be set at 115200, RTS and DTR should both be enabled.

That's it. Turn on the BT of your phone and just press the Connect button of FMA. You should be connecting at this time without error.

Troubleshooting:

1. FMA does not connect on serial port. Sometimes this happens. To solve this, connect manually to your phone's serial port. To do this, open My Bluetooth Places, click on View Devices in Range, when you see your phone, right-click on your phone's icon and select Connect to Serial Port 1. You should see green arrows in your icon indicating a serial connection and you should also see blue arrows beside the BT indicator in your phone indicating the same. Start FMA, then Connect. Exit FMA, restart your PC, then the next time you start FMA again, there will no longer be a need for you to manually connect the serial port.

2. After upgrading or applying patches to FMA, you get errors in the Inbox folder of SMS messages. Just exit FMA and restart your PC. This should remove the error.

3. FMA does not connect - I am using Microsoft Bluetooth Drivers. Use Native Bluetooth instead of Serial Port.

4. FMA does not connect - I am using Infrared. Use Native Infrared instead of Serial Port.

5. OBEX File Not Supported. If you are using IR, OBEX File browsing is not supported.

6. FMA does not connect - I am using DCU-11 Cable. Go to Control Panel->System->Hardware tab->Device Manager
Expand Ports (COM &amp; LPT) and you'll see DCU-11 Cable (COM x) where x is the number of the COM port assigned to the cable. In FMA set Use Serial port enter the number x enable RTS Flow Control. Click connect. Note: I have been informed by jacowannabe that from the XE version, FMA can now handle file transfers from phone to PC via cable.

7. I am using Windows 98 and I get errors regarding Active X. To run FMA on Win98SE, you need to install ActiveX controls/Windows Scripts. You can download them at [Microsoft]

How To Backup Games In Your Pc!

You need OPERA - it's free with a banner , you can download it from http://www.opera.com/
And PROXOMITRON - it's here - http://www.proxomitron.info/

1. Install opera

2. Install Proxomitron

3. Click on the 'Headers' button(in Proxomitron).

4. Go right to the bottom of the list and select one of the User-Agent rules.

5. Press the 'Dupe' button and fill in the following:
HTTP Header - "User-Agent: SonyEricssonK700i/R2A"
Replacement Text - "SonyEricssonK700i/R2A"

6. Press OK. Select the 'Out' check box in front of the new rule.

7. Apply and OK and make sure that the 'Outgoing Header Filters are enabled.

8. Open Opera and go to preferentes (ALT+P) -> Network -> proxy server-> and mark “http” and “https” and write right “localhost” in both and as used port “8080” in both too and ACCEPT all.

If you do it ok you must see WAP versión of google if you enter in http://www.google.com and you can not enter in any web if you close Proxomitron.

10. Buy a game and enter in Opera the WAP link to download it (For example http://midp.jabler.com/wap/mi[....]6a6956d61d180b4eeec8ce901a7a2)

11. Sometimes you´ll download a *.jad archive first. Edit it with Notepad and inside you must see the link (total o parcial link) to the jar (the true game) file.

12. Enter this link in OPERA and download the game.

Download the file with Opera don’t use any download manager like reget, getright,… If you enter in the download link two or more times you could not download the game anytime

With Lithium batteries there is no advantage to draining the battery. The battery will infact last longer with partial rather than full discharges. There is no battery memory effect with a lithium battery - you can charge the battery whenever you like without fear of reducing its charge capacity, and you do not need to drain a lithium battery completely before recharging it.

#39 Record a call Conversation

#40 Block a group

Create a new group of contacts, from Contacts | Options | Groups (you could name the group Blacklist or something else). Assign any people / phone numbers to that group.
Set a profile which has the Accepted callers set to that new group.
Now you don't have to bother any unacceptable callers.

#41 Speed Dial

To add speed dial, just go to "Contacts" "options" "speed dial"..
Call using speed dial, press "number",then "Call".
Hold a number to ativiate speed dial not exists in this phone.

#42 Camera in Flight Mode (R1AA) new

To enable this function, first set your autokeypad locked : on
Off and On your phone to the StartupScreen
Wait until the keypad is autolocked.(Either way, u can just manual lock the phone)
Slide the camera shutter. There you have your camera.
(This method only works few times for me)
(R1BC002 does not support this function)

Most of the units available here is bundled with SanDisk. Anyway, Sandisk and Sony Magicgate is same.

"Save a Missed Call into your phone directory"

Scroll to "Missed Call", press "Yes" to display the required number. Press any number (i.e. 0 to 9), then press "clear" once to clear that number, then press & hold "<" until you see "Store". Press "Yes"

"Hide your number when calling when you don't
want the other party toknow your number)"

After dialling the required number & before pressing "Yes", press ">" twice to choose "Hide Id?" & then press "Yes". Also works for pre-programmed & last dialled numbers just press "No" & wait for the number to appear on the screen first then follow same procedure

"Check you battery level when phone is off Press "No" quickly one time & wait for the battery meter to show up!

"Save a number into your phone memory (not SIM card)"
Follow normal procedures to store a phone number. When prompted to set a storage position, press "#" once & key in desired location, or press "#" twice for next available position

"Call a phone number from SMS message"

You can call from within a SMS message if the phone number is written in it. Just scroll the message until the phone number appears on the display, then press "Yes" to call

T And Z Series Tips and Tricks:

Standby Screen:

Holding down corresponding number on the keypad --> Will lead you to the corresponding name in your address book. ie: holding down #5 will lead to letter "j" on your book.

Press # then no. --> Goes to no.'s contact on sim.
Hold < --> SMS Popup.
Hold C --> Silent mode

On the calendar, you can set your phone to switch profiles at a given date and time using the autoswitch option.

Put frequent text recipients as an individual group. ie group:"john" members: john -->Quick SMS Recipients.


P Series Tips and Tricks:

Flip Closed then Jog-Up * Jog-Down Jog-Down * Jog-Down * --> Service menu.

Goto the Control Panel > Connections > Internet Accounts > Other tab >Preferred mode to GSM only --> Increase Battery Life.

File manager> open image> choose the folder that the pics are in> check the pictures you want to hide> click on file> properties> check the hidden box --> Hide Pictures.

If you ever find your icons (apps residing in memory stick) missing out all a sudden, don't reset you phone but simply reload your memory stick.

*#06# --> Shows IMEI No.

Flip Closed then jog dial down * * jog dial down --> Network Lock Menu. Becarfull :Do not mess around in this setting as you could end up permanently locking your phone!

You can have animated gifs for fliped closed wallpaper.

Hold C --> Silent Mode

**61*VoicemailNumber*11*delay#[SEND] --> Diverts unanswered calls to voicemail after a set delay The delay can be anything from 5-30 seconds. Your VoicemailNumber must be your actual voicemail box. Not the short code i.e 121 for example **61*+44123456*11*30# will divert to +44123456 after 30 seconds.

Battery Tap the battery icon in the bottom right and click Settings. Click on the Screen tab and set the Screen saver to None. Click on the Power tab. Set the Light to Auto, Light (car) to Off. Set Power save to either Clock or Blank and Activate after 2-3 minutes. --> Increase Battery Life

View SMS> edit> Show subject --> See more sms in one page.

Flip Closed> Hold Options key --> Go straigt to applications menu.

If you open the flip during a call, the speakerphone function is activated. This lets you continue the conversation while using other functions of the phone.

Change System Fonts

Files that you need:
- SMan 1.3
- True Type Support.
- Font file of your choice. Can be obtained from Control Panel-->Fonts


Steps:

1- Install Sman 1.3 on your device. ( C: or D:)
2- Install FreeType. ( C: or D:). A "Fonts" folder will be created under the "system" folder.
3- Move the font file to the System/Fonts folder.
4- Open Sman and go to  Fn--->Utilities-->Set system font
5- A list of available fonts will be shown including the one you added. Choose a font and a size.
6- Tick "Anti-Aliasing" for a better font look.
7- Restart your phone and see the changes.
8- If your phone gets stuck during restart, restart again with hard reset (Hold power for 10 seconds). Fonts should be changed.
9- If you wish to revert to the original fonts, go to step 4 and choose "Reset"

No. It's impossible to turn off the clock screensaver. It's primary purpose is to save power.

What is that red LED in the joystick on my T610 for?
The red LED will light up when you set the phone on charge while it's off and when the phone is low on power. IMY ringtones can also flash the led when they play.

What's the latest T68 software version?
The latest version is R6A012 (December 9th, 2002). The T68 was first released with the software version R1B. All T68m models (the old model launched in autumn 2001) can be upgraded to a T68i. With the new software version you will get MMS, My Pictures, CommuniCam Software etc. For an unofficial list of phone software, take a look at Cytech's homepage.

How do I save more than one background picture on the T68?
You can't. You have 10 preinstalled backgrounds on the T68 but can't change any of them

How do I check which software version my phone has?
Go to the main screen (not in menu) and use this key combination: > * < < * < * where '<' is left menu button on T39, R520 and joystick left on T68, '>' = right and '*' = *.

What is the meaning of the blinking LED's on SonyEricsson phones
Green flashing = telephone on with reception
Red = battery low
Green = charging
Blue = Bluetooth turned on

Can I change the sound for message/SMS alerts in the T68?
No. Not possible in the T68

Am I forced to use WAP to transfer logos, screensavers, ringtones or themes to the phone?
No. You have several options for doing this. Buy a DRS10 or DRS-11 cable, a IrDA dongle or a Bluetooth adapter. The MSI-6967 Bluetooth dongle is an inexpensive USB adapter.

How do I remove the operator text.
Sorry, but you can't remove the name of the operator.

Can I remove the clock screensaver?
No. The "clock screensaver" automatically starts after 10 sec. The time interval is depending on the length of the custom screensaver you have (optionaly) installed.

Difference between DRS-10 and DRS-11 Serial Cables
According to Daniel Hertrich, the DRS-10 does not have a DCD (data carrier detect) line. The DRS-11 includes this, aside from using a newer chipset, MAX3386.

DCD, together with DTR (data terminal ready), DSR (data set ready), RTS (request to send) and CTS (clear to send) are handshaking lines. These are used by devices to exchange information about their status (whether or not a device is ready, can send data, can receive data, etc). The need and use depends on the kind of data transmission you run and on the software which handles the transmission.

Device compatibility
Accodring to the SonyEricsson office in the Philippines, the DRS-10 and DRS-11 are compatible to the T68 and T65 phone models. We have successfully tested the DRS-10 with T60, T65, T66, T68, T68i and the T39.
