Leeds United 0 Millwall 2




Steve Morison and Shaun Batt were on target as Millwall moved to within three points of the automatic promotion spots after a convincing win at promotion rivals Leeds United.
Victory was nothing more than The Lions deserved following a composed, professional display that reaped the club's first win at Elland Road in 22 years.
Lions boss Kenny Jackett made one change to the team that had started against Charlton, bringing in top scorer Neil Harris for Batt, who dropped to the bench.
And it was Harris who was involved in the first real action of the half, when he was sent sprawling by Patrick Kisnorbo on the halfway line after four minutes.
Kisnorbo then got tangled up with Chopper and miraculously escaped with just a stern talking to from referee Chris Foy, who refrained from brandishing either a yellow or red card to the Leeds defender despite appearing to put his hands in Harris' face.
However the former Leicester man saw his involvement cut short just seconds later when he fell awkwardly trying to catch Morison as he powered past him on the right flank, with Kisnorbo subsequently stretchered off to be replaced by Aidan White.
The early reshuffling of a Leeds playing pack already devoid of free-scoring striker Jermaine Beckford, who was ruled out with a hamstring injury, hardly helped Simon Grayson's nervy second-placed side.
And matters went from bad to worse for the Yorkshiremen on 10 minutes, when Morison fired The Lions ahead from the tightest of angles following good build-up play by Alan Dunne and Liam Trotter.
In fact Morison could have heaped on more misery barely two minutes later, but on this occasion his fierce drive flew just over the bar with the Leeds defence in disarray.
It was 26 long minutes before Leeds mustered what could could loosely be considered as their first attempt on goal - a left-foot drive from Robert Snodgrass that flew woefully wide of the mark.
Likewise Luciano Becchio and Jonathan Howson both sent efforts off-target as the home side tried to build up a head of steam as the first-half wore on.
But it was Millwall who took everything in their stride, and the unflappable Darren Ward was only denied a second goal by the woodwork deep into stoppage time, when his header from a Chris Hackett corner clipped the top of the bar.
Following their listless showing in the opening 45 minutes, the Elland Road faithful expected nothing less than a whole-hearted effort from The Whites after the break.
But after a brief flurry of activity at the start of the second half, Leeds were simply given no opportunity to reproduce the form that has seen them sit in the division's top two for virtually the whole season.
Such was the professionalism, power and purpose of this Millwall performance that a second goal was always on the cards.
Danny Schofield's trickery nearly produced just that on 70 minutes, as did Morison and then Hackett, who both went close with efforts in quick succession.
Sub Batt made the points safe 10 minutes from time with a goal that rewarded his sheer persistence.
There seemed to be little danger when the towering frontman picked up the ball near the corner flag on the left, but he wriggled past one defender, then another - the goal was beckoning and Batt didn't need asking twice as he thumped home a low shot under the body of Casper Ankergren.
Batt nearly capitalised on some more sloppy defending seconds later when Leigh Bromby and Ankergren dithered on the edge of the area, but the sub's hooked shot flew a yard over.
With the Leeds fans streaming out of the ground long before the final whistle it was the 372 Lions supporters, superb throughout, who were able to enjoy the final few minutes comfortable in the knowledge that the players had done their job. And done it very well.

Trenutno se igra poslednje kolo League 1. Norwich je odavno obezbedio direktan plasman u championship, a za drugo mesto koje vodi u championship bore se Leeds sa 83, Millwall i Swindon sa 82 i Charlton sa 81.

Leeds trenutno gubi od Bristola sa 1-0 i ima igraca manje, tako da verovatno nece biti drugi.
Charlton vodi sa 2-0 protiv Oldhama i za sada ima to drugo mesto.

Zato ispada da je utakmica koja odlucuje o svemu duel Millwall-a i Swindona gde je trenutno rezultat 1-1! Ukoliko jedna od ove dve ekipe uspe da pobedi ici ce direktno u championship, a ako ostane nereseno Charlton ce biti drugi!

Ja se nadam da ce Lavovi uspeti da pobede!!!

I pored pobede Millwalla od 3-2, Lavovi nisu zavrsili 2. zbog Leedsa koji je pobedio sa 2-1 i to su postigli oba gola u 4 minuta! Kao i tokom cele sezone leeds ponovo dolazi do sumnjive pobede i ona je kostala Millwall direktnog plasmana u championship!

Huddersfield Town 0 Millwall 0

It's set up for a cracking Play-Off second leg at The Den on Tuesday night after The Lions fought out a 0-0 draw in the first leg at Huddersfield, but had no luck as referee Darren Deadman decided in the home side's favour on a couple of key occasions.
Millwall put in a hard-working controlled display at the Galpharm, restricting high-scoring Huddersfield to just a handful of clear cut chances, and had two excellent penalty appeals of their own turned down.
The Terriers started brightly and after just three minutes Gary Roberts saw his fine cross from the left clawed away by David Forde.
The Lions then repelled two early Huddersfield corners before launching their first meaningful attack on the 10 minute mark that might easily have led to a goal.
The ball was worked across to Scott Barron whose shot was blocked two handed by Peter Clarke but Millwall's vociferous penalty appeals were waived away by referee Deadman.
Steve Morison suffered a cut head after a clash with Neal Trotman, but soldiered on with a head bandage.
There was a let off for Millwall on 26 minutes when Lee Novak crossed from the right forcing Darren Ward to make a great challenge on Jordan Rhodes who shot over.
The first yellow card of the game was shown to Paul Robinson who fouled Rhodes on the edge of the box. Drinkwater's curling free-kick was well saved by Forde at the expense of a corner.
Millwall enjoyed a spell of pressure towards end of the half with a series of free-kicks and corners but were unable to carve out a chance.
On 52 minutes a lightning Millwall break ended when Harris cut inside and tested Alex Smithies from 20 yards.
Gary Roberts was fortunate that the referee failed to spot a stamp on Jimmy Abdou, and Mr Deadman's eyesight was again called into question as Millwall had a second blatant penalty turned down when Barron was tripped in the box by Peter Clarke as he was about to pull the trigger.
Harris was then booked for flicking the ball home with a hand from a Barron corner.
Huddersfield also had ball in the net but the flag had long been raised for offside.
Gary Alexander replaced Harris up front, and The Lions only had to survive a couple of scares late on when Roberts fired a deflected shot at Forde and then on 84 minutes Peltier hit a swinging cross, but Rhodes and Novak couldn't get a vital touch.
So all to play for on Tuesday night, but the task might have been a little easier had the referee upheld those penalty claims.

Odigrali smo 0 0 u gostima sto je dobar rezultat. Sudija je bio na strani domacina i dosta je odmogao lavovima. Po meni cist penal za Millwall nije sviran!
