Striker Jermaine wins his second award for September...

Jermaine Beckford has scooped his second award of the season.

Our leading scorer was named as the Powerade League One Player of the Month on Monday evening.

Becks, last season's League One Player of the Year, has already won the PFA UP2U Fans Player of the Month for September, and now he has made it a double.

Jermaine has bagged 11 goals already this season and, while delighted to win the latest award, the striker is firmly focused on United's League One promotion assault.

Becks said: "It's nice to win the award, but the most important thing is how we are doing as a team.

"September was a good month for us. We made progress in both cups and got ourselves up towards where we want to be in the league.

"It's nice to get some goals early in the season because it's all about helping us achieve what we want to achieve, but it's where we are and what we have all done in May that counts."

Blatter praises Leeds youth model

Fifa president Sepp Blatter has praised Leeds United's academy set-up and advised more clubs to invest in youth.

In the current financial climate and with more clubs falling into administration, Blatter has hailed the Leeds model as the way forward.

"Unless you are one of the ultra-rich clubs, this, surely, is the way forward," said Blatter.

"Leeds, a club I greatly respect, have to be applauded for its efforts in this regard," he added.

Since their fall from the Premier League to League One, Leeds have looked to their youngster to kick-start their charge back up the divisions

The likes of Fabian Delph, Aidan White, Jonathan Howson and Ben Parker have all developed from the academy to become key members of the first team squad.

Leeds boss Gary McAllister told BBC Radio Leeds: "Our setup and hard work doesn't go unnoticed.
"I know Andy Roxborough [former Scotland manager] very well and he is close to Sepp Blatter, so I think that's how it's got back to him.

"It's important to stress the we aren't making this a cruise to say how well we are doing.

"The youngsters in my squad get in because they are good enough not just because they have come from the academy.

"When the 16, 17 and 18 year-olds come over and train with the first team they can deal with it.

"They can cope with the increased tempo, movement and skill.

"So you have to tip your cap to Neil Thompson and his staff in the academy for doing a great job."

Сјећам се оног тима Лидса из оних златних година, неђе 2000-2001 кад су харали Енглеском и Лигом Шампиона... Ево их онако из главе: Робинсон - Вудгејт, Харт, Г. Кели, Радебе- Бојер, Кјуел, ( ође ми фале још два везна играча) - Бриџис, А. Смит. Е, то је био тим, још ми није јасно како се тако велики клуб распаде, нијесу им ваљда паре биле у питање, па колико су само зарадили продајом Вудгејта Реалу и Кјуела Ливерпулу... Стварно не знам што им је сада.
