Britanska kompanija "3" predstavila je interesantan mobilni telefon namenjen prvenstveno zaljubljenicima najpopularnijeg soc-net web sajta - Facebooka.

Telefon INQ1 je klizni HSDPA uređaj sa QVGA ekranom od 2.2 inča i kamerom od 3.2 megapiksela. Telefon ne predstavlja nošta revolucionarno sa tehničkog aspekta, ali veliki broj aplikacija je ono što ga izdvaja od konkurencije.

Pre svega, telefon poseduje aplikaciju za koju se veruje da je najfunkcionalnija od svih do sada poznatih za mobilne telefone, a namenjena je za laku manipulaciju Facebook, Skype, i Flickr sajtovima.

Aplikacija na ovom telefonu omogućuje sređivanje statusa, apdejta, adresara i drugih opcija na ova tri soc-net sajta. Moguće je upravljati i pratećim komentarima i porukama koje se prime kada korisnik nije na vezi.

Iako se radi o samom početku, ovaj telefon bi vrlo brzo mogao da postane "sveti gral" za Facebook zavisnike.

Telefon INQ1 će se uskoro pojaviti na tržištu, ali za sada nema informacija o ceni.

IcePhone - Next Gen WinMo Communicator

With all these convergence things going on, everyone’s trying to cram as many functions as they can into their latest smartphone.

The problem is that it is impossible to do it all in a package small enough to carry in your pocket.

Or is it?

The new Swiss Army Knife of handset of smartphones,  called the IcePhone (In Case of Emergency Phone) may achieve just that.



The creators of the Icephone call it a micro-notebook, and it sure feels that way.



Using and interesting folding hinge along the lines of Jacobs Ladder,  this smartphone has three independent panels where you can fit the screen, full QWERTY keyboard, 3″ touchscreen display, mouse tracker pad and gaming console controls, 2 SIM cards and tons of other interesting things in a body the size of Nokia E90 communicator.



As you can see in the pictures, you can fold this handset however you like, switching between full QWERTY typing, touchscreen and gaming modes. And you can see how the Icephone works in this video demo:

The Icephone is already in production and should be hitting retail stores in Thailand soon, and should get to U.K. sometime in March-April 2009, for somewhere just under $1000 a piece.



Unfortunately, the company did not have a working model on hand yet, so I can’t tell how all this works in real life.

Motorola adds another 5-megapixel phone to the mix with VE66



If you like what the ZN5 brings to the table but roundish sliders are more your cup of tea (and when the alternative is a drab gray candybar with purple accents, we can't say we blame you), Moto's got the solution to the pollution this morning with the official announcement of the VE66. You've got that 5-megapixel autofocus cam with LED flash (as opposed to the ZN5's xenon) and image stabilization, WiFi, FM radio, Motorola's CrystalTalk noise reduction, and a navigation wheel for flying through song tracks. Interestingly, there's no mention of Moto's partnership with Kodak anywhere on the phone or the announcement -- but something tells us that won't have an effect on picture quality. Look for it to launch some time this quarter.

IcePhone: an upcoming triple-flip with Windows Mobile



The concept is interesting to say the least; a triple-flip 3G smartphone with a touchscreen, full QWERTY keypad and third function panel that can flip to face downward beneath the keypad and double as a gaming controller. Whether or not we’ll ever see it in production however, remains to be seen. A company by the name of The Medical Phone Ltd have begun showing off this unique contraption and claim that it is currently in production, though there was no working demo shown off at a recent expo it attended. As the company’s name might suggest, the handset began as a concept for a survival-based device that would pack a full first-aid guide and various other functionality. Of course this niche marketing would drastically limit the device so it has been fanned out a bit though it still has some interesting emergeny features such as a one-touch emergency button that phones 911, the closest hospital and your doctor simultaneously. It also actives the integrated GPS so you can be found, assuming whoever it contacts has some sort of device equipped to communication with the IcePhone. Spec highlights:

LG launches Prada II teaser site, matching Bluetooth watch



Not that it wasn't official already or anything, but nothing demonstrates dedication to a product like an exclusive home on the web. Yep, LG has just launched a standalone microsite for the altogether sexy Prada II, and while you already know about the specs -- HSDPA, WiFi, 5-megapixel camera, 3-inch 400 x 240 pixel capacitive multi-touch display and quad-band GSM connectivity -- you probably weren't aware of the matching Prada Link Bluetooth watch. As you'd expect, the timepiece syncs with your Prada II and shows your incoming calls / texts, and we'll go out on a limb and presume that it tells time, too. Sadly, the tidbits we're most interested in (a release date and pricing) aren't clearly available on the site, but we'll be refreshing like madmen hoping for that to change.

LG to launch 125 handsets in 2009?



The crisis in the global economy is not slowing LG down, at least not on paper. According to Pocket Lint, LG is planning to release 125 unique handsets next year. These are not 17 phones in a rainbow of colors but 125 individual handset models. The UK alone will supposedly receive 25 of these new handsets which, if launched at a steady pace, would equate to a new handset every two weeks. Keep in mind this ambitious roadmap is on only paper and not written in stone. Nonetheless, it will be interesting to watch LG in 2009 to see if it can meet this lofty goal. Wonder what new handsets they plan on sending stateside in 2009…

Cartier-adorned Motorola A1600 makes no apologies



By its very nature, the MING series has never been the most understated lineup of phones money could buy -- but if the trick transparent cover isn't enough to turn some heads your way on your next trip to Taiwan, can we recommend this instead? It seems Moto has teamed up with Cartier in some capacity here to trick out the A1600 with enough gold and fake (well, hopefully fake) croc skin to make all but the most unabashedly flashy buyers cringe. At $28,000 TWD (about $867), it's no Vertu -- so it's kinda ironic that they've somehow managed to outdo all but the most ridiculous Vertus on the tacky luxury meter, isn't it?

LG Prada 2: Hands-on with LG's refitted fashionista



esterday we sashayed along to the launch of the chic new LG Prada phone -- aka the LG Prada 2 -- to find out what the fashion-conscious phone has to offer. The original Prada phone was one of the first touchscreen handsets to hit the UK market, but it was fiddly to use, especially for texting. LG has taken this on board and tailored the Prada 2 to include a dedicated slide-out Qwerty keypad.

But there's much more -- the Prada 2 might look similar to its predecessor, but our first impression is that it's one of LG's best touchscreen phones yet. For starters, the Prada 2's screen is superb and responds to a gentle touch, similar to the iPhone or T-Mobile G1. Click 'Continue' to see more info and pics.

The LG Prada 2 will be available in the next few months for free on a monthly contract. Exact deals have yet to be announced.



At 17mm thick, the Prada 2 isn't the thinnest phone out there and some bitchy critics at the event thought it was a little too chunky for its fashion-phone status. Given that it's got a slide-out Qwerty keypad, we don't think it's that bad, and while you won't want to cram it into a tight pair of jeans, it will fit comfortably enough in the average pocket.



On the back of the LG Prada 2 sits a 5-megapixel camera with LED photo light and auto-focus. You can use the camera to shoot still pictures and video, and it will also shoot slow-motion videos, similar to the Viewty. The LG Prada can also play DivX movies, which look great on its large screen.



Flick the keypad out and you're ready to start bashing out emails or texts. We found it easy to use -- make more Qwerty phones like this please, LG. You can also use the keypad to type URLs and search terms when you're browsing the Web, but we weren't overly impressed with the Prada's browser. We'll reserve final judgement for the full review, though.

In terms of connecting to the Web you can use HSDPA (3.5G) or Wi-Fi. There's no GPS, which is a shame, and no built-in 3.5mm headphone jack. The screen has iPhone-like multitouch features, so you can zoom in on pics by pinching the screen, for example. There's also an acceleremoter that can sense which way you're holding the phone and tilt the screen accordingly.



It's all about accessorisation -- you can also buy a watch called the Prada Link, which connects to the Prada 2 via Bluetooth and displays incoming calls and text messages. You can use it to silence or reject calls and read full texts on it, similar to Sony Ericsson's Bluetooth watch.

NEC N-01A, a high-tech transformer phone

Wide VGA display resolution, 5MP camera, high-speed connectivity – these are only few of the features that you can easily find in lots of the Japanese phones outed in 2008.

The new NEC N-01A is itself a proud owner of a 854 x 480 pixels screen, a 5.2MP camera and HSDPA connectivity.  But what really makes it newsworthy is its design and the fact that it comes with three different styles: Touch Style, Share Style and Communication Style.

The large display of N-01A can be swiveled in two ways: at 180 degrees or at 90 degrees. In the first case, you get a pretty normal slider phone (if a WVGA display can go as being normal). In the second case, after the display is swiveled, you get a phone that looks to be perfect for watching mobile TV (thanks to the built-in 1Seg tuner), for taking clear, sharp photos with that 5.2MP autofocus camera, or for browsing the Web.     



We first saw the N-01A at the beginning of October, when NTT DoCoMo announced its new line-up of handsets, but there were only few details about it then, and its ability to be transformed the way described above was not known.



NEC N-01A will be on sale in Japan starting November 21, as part of NTT DoCoMo’s Prime line-up of handsets. Its price was not revealed yet, but something tells me it won’t be an affordable one.

Sharp's 8MPX Cycloid
Is Powered With Symbian OS!



Symbian Limited welcomes NTT DOCOMO’s launch of the docomo PRIME series SH-01A based on Symbian OS, which starts shipping in Japan today.

The docomo PRIME series SH-01A is a cycloid-style handset with an 8 megapixel camera and a 3.3 inch wide screen.

This new phone is manufactured by Sharp Corporation and is includes the MOAP platform which is compliant with the latest FOMA specifications and will be sold under the DoCoMo Winter Collection.

The SH-01A is probably the best equipped Symbian phone at the moment and it features some really nice things like an 8MPX CCD camera sensor, supported with a 28mm wide angle lens and the face detection!

Furthermore it has beautiful 3.3" VGA ASV AQUOS LCD, 1 Seg TV tuner with a rotative screen for a nifty 16:9 like video viewing mode. Of course, there is a Bluetooth that incloudes all possible protocols like A2DP, AVRCP, DUN, HFP, HSP, HID, OPP, SPP.

There is also Virtual 5.1 chanell Dolby Pro Logic II surround sound, build in GPS, HSDPA and innovative touch cruiser d-pad! Phone is available in four colors with a size of 111 x 50 x 15.6mm and weight of 145g.
