Motorola Alexander and Motorola Attila live pics

We’ve known since early August that Motorola Atila and Alexander touchscreen phones are in the works.

And we’ve even some live pics of a working Motorola Attila phone recently.

Well, today we have some more live pics for you, courtesy of Chinese site IT168.com:

Well, apart from the live pics, there’s no additional info about the new handsets. We already knew some specs, but not much.

The only new thing that can be gleaned from these pictures is the screen size of Motorola Alexander. We know that Attila wil have 2.8″ display, and Alexander’s screen in the picture is obviously smaller. So it probably will be 2.6″.

Other then that, we’ll have to wait for more leaks, that I’m sure are coming if Motorola won’t announce the new phones soon.

Meizu M8 gets demoed in multi-part video form

We've already seen it unboxed and, of course, endlessly shown off by Meizu's own J. Wong, but it looks like some independent demos of the now infamous Meizu M8 are finally starting to crop up online, with one of the first coming from Chinese retailer CNMO.com. While some of the details are lost in translation, there's still quite a bit to be gleaned from the ten videos available at the link below, not the least of which is the fact that the touchscreen seems to be somewhat of an excercise in patience, to put things kindly -- check out part 8 for the challenge that is pausing a track. The phone's camera also seems to be a bit sluggish, but not completely out of line with your run of the mil cellphone camera. Touchscreen aside, however, the phone's interface does appear to be fairly slick and, yes, oddly famiilar.

Mio to take on Garmin with own 3.5G GPS-enabled touchscreen handset

Mio Technology, which hails itself as “one of the leading players in the mobile GPS industry,” is said to be working on a new Windows Mobile-powered handset for release in the first quarter of 2009. One of its biggest selling points will no doubt be its GPS capabilities, but much more will be shoehorned into its diminutive handheld package, according to a report.

While Mio already has at least a couple so-called GPS PDA phones in its stable (like the A702, pictured here), the new Windows Mobile-based GPS handset is said to be powered by 3.5G chipsets from Qualcomm, and enhanced by the company’s own touch user interface called the “Spirit.”

Like some of its currently existing GPS handsets, Mio’s upcoming touchscreen model will come with a 3.5-inch screen, 3.2-megapixel auto-focus camera, and possibly the latest version of Windows Mobile.

It is said that this product is scheduled for release during the first quarter of 2009, and alongside it will be a GPS-enabled MID “7- or 8-inch TFT-LCD display, support 3G technology and run on Windows CE OS.” (which is, or is not, sweet depending on your preferences.)

Coincidentally, Q1 2009 is also when Garmin is expected to launch the GPS-enabled Garmin Nuvifone. We’ll see which of the two handsets is better then, come their launch dates.

Motorola Alexander and Motorola Atila coming in Q1 2009

Is it just me, or are the Motorola Atila and Motorola Alexander very poorly designed? Anyway, the two unnannounced Motorola smartphones, earlier leaked in live pics, are said to be “under construction” in the factories of Compal Communications. Maybe that explains where all these leaked photos have been coming from.

This info is gathered from a recent Commercial Times report, which says “Compal Communications has received orders for two Windows Mobile-based PDA phones,” aptly named the Alexander and Attila, from none other than good old Motorola.

The same report also reveals that the two upcoming Motorola handsets were actually scheduled for a shipment date somewhere between Q4 2008. The reason for the delay wasn’t specified, but shipments are now set in Q1 2009.

Motorola probably didn’t want its new babies to get drowned out in the noise of iPhone 3G and Nokia 5800 XpressMusic sales during the holiday season. That, or like many of its currently available products, the Motorola Alexander and Atila both still stink, and therefore need more work on their features still.

 Motorola Concept Phone

Do you think this concept Motorola handset is what the company needs to reverse its fortunes? We don't think so, especially when you take a look at its kiddy-like form factor. Well, one thing that cannot be faulted - this ought to be the cutest handset to be released (if it ever makes it to the production line, of course), although Hello Kitty fans might beg to differ. From the images, you can tell that this handset can be "pulled" downwards to reveal its navigation keys, although we're not too sure where composing text messages and emails come in since there is no alphanumeric keyboard in sight.

No TV tuner, no problem with Permian's MOBview dongle

The problem with mobile television services -- besides the fact that no one seems to use them, that is -- is that unless you happen to be in Japan or South Korea, very, very few handsets have the hardware necessary to take advantage. Chinese company Permian seems to have it all figured out, though, crafting a nifty dongle that does the heavy lifting of pulling in and tuning a TV signal, streaming the entertainment to a variety of WinMo-based phones over Bluetooth. We don't know what standards the so-called "MOBview" supports, when it'll be available, or how much it'll run, but if AT&T could somehow sell it for $39.99 in stores and recommend it for use with the Fuze, they might just monetize that MediaFLO stuff yet. Follow the break for the video demo of MOBview in action!

Motorola launches the ROKR EM35

Not to be upstaged by Nokia's neverending stream of goodies today -- well, honestly, nothing's going to stop that -- Motorola has seen fit to push out a new music-centric device dubbed the ROKR EM35. On the sonic front, it packs audio-enhancing CrystalTalk (which features two microphones to help filter out background noise), virtual stereo surround sound, the MOTOMUSIC player, dual speakers, and an RDS-enabled FM radio. Hardware specs give us quad-band EDGE, a 3.1 megapixel camera, 110MB of onboard memory that's expandable to 32GB, in a fairly tidy 116 gram package. Carrier availability and pricing is missing here, though, we'll likely hear something soon enough.

Land Rover S1 and Land Rover S2 G4 rugged phones announced by Sonim

Sonim Technologies announced that it has partnered with Land Rover, the British manufacturer of all-terrain vehicles, in order to bring us new rugged mobile phones.

The first two devices, called Land Rover S1 by Sonim and Land Rover S2 G4 by Sonim, will be available sometime in mid-2009, for prices that have not yet been announced.

The phones will be marketed by Sonim and Land Rover to mobile carriers and retailers from 40 countries around the world.

Only one of the handsets is pictured for the moment, namely the Land Rover S1:

I must say that it looks pretty similar to the Sonim XP3 that we recently told you about.

Both Land Rover S1 and Land Rover S2 G4 will come in a protective case made from XENOY, which is “a revolutionary post-consumer plastic derived mostly from used plastic bottles and film.”

The phones will feature Bluetooth, being water resistant and certified to withstand thermal shock, humidity and 1.6-meter drops to concrete.

Krusell posluje u preko 50 zemalja širom sveta. Dakle, lista za novembar 2008. izgleda ovako:

1. (-) Samsung SGH-i900/i910 Omnia
2. (7) Nokia 6300
3. (2) Sony Ericsson C702
4. (1) Apple iPhone 3G
5. (3) Nokia 3109
6. (-) Nokia N96
7. (-) Sony Ericsson X1 Xperia
8. (Smile Nokia E71
9. (6) Nokia E51
10. (4) HTC Diamond
