Google mobile Gmail 2.0 (VIDEO)

Kompanija Google predstavila je verziju 2.0 svoje Gmail aplikacije namenjene mobilnim telefonima.

Nova verzija Gmail-a podržana je na J2ME i BlackBerry telefonima. Ova aplikacija uključuje neke od sledećih opcija: upravljanje višestrukim nalozima (lako prebacivanje sa Gmail-a na druge Google aplikacije, čuvanje više e-mail draftova, korišćenje prečica preko QWERTY tastature, pregled i pisanje e-mail poruka u offline modu...



Inženjer za softver pri Google Mobile timu, Derek Filips, izjavio je da je fokus ove verzije Gmail-a bio na brzini i pouzdanosti.

Samsung says: 8MP phones with 3x optical zoom next year, 12MP later

A phone with an 8 Megapixel camera is nice, that’s for sure. But Samsung knows that a phone with an 8 Megapixel camera and 3x optical zoom would be even nicer.

According to Telecoms Korea, Samsung Techwin and Samsung Electro-Mechanics, two of the South Korean giant’s subsidiaries, have already developed 8 Megapixel camera modules with 3x optical zoom. 

The module has an autofocus performance improved by 57%, a 1/2.5 inch CMOS sensor and lens that support F2.85. The module is also a bit bigger than the 5MP one previously developed by Samsung.



A Samsung Electro-Mechanics official unveiled that the first handset to come with 8MP and 3x digital zoom will be released in early 2009.

Even more, the South Korean manufacturer is also working on a 12MP camera module that will be smaller than the 8MP one. There’s no word yet on when this will be integrated into a phone, though.

Motorola VE66 rocks 5MP cam and Wi-Fi, proves Motorola isn’t sleeping

If you thought Motorola would stop at the ZN5’s 5 megapixel camera, just as they did with the original design of the RAZR and its many rip-offs (made by Motorola itself!), well, you, as well as I, are apparently wrong.

The latest unofficial Motorola handset to come out of the woodwork is the Motorola VE66, which features a 5 megapixel camera, 3G connectivity, built-in Wi-Fi and runs on Montavista v2.6.10 Linux (nope, not Android). Not much can be said about its operating system, but with its amount of high-end features, it’s a significant step forward for a company like Motorola in its current state.



It’s also equipped with a Freescale SCM-A11 500MHz processor, 2.4-inch 16M TFT display, Bluetooth v2.0 with A2DP, and a microSD card slot. It’s not clear whether the camera module will use the same Kodak lens as the ZN5, though.



Also of note, there will be two versions of the Motorola VE66: one with UMTS and HSDPA and the other without 3G at all. We’ll be digging up for more on the Motorola VE66 in the coming weeks, so watch for it.

Motorola i9 caught in the wild



Remember the Moto i9 we’ve seen few days ago passing the FCC hurdle? It’s almost here folks and today we’re presenting you with the first set of “in the wild” photos. In terms of the size, it looks pretty much identical to the original RAZR2. The trick is in the keypad, where Motorola used its ModeShift technology to make the experience better across different apps, or at least that seems to be the idea here.

Anyway, I wouldn’t be surprised to see Sprint announcing the ModeShifting clamshell during next week or maybe a week later. We don’t have any inside information, but the timing seems right… Keep reading for two more shots of the Motorola i9.

Casio's 8.1 megapixel W63CA with 480 x 800 pixel OLED flips out in Japan



We had a chance to gaze through the wireframe of this 8.1 megapixel Casio W63CA Exilim cellphone back in August courtesy of the FCC's finest. Now check it in high-gloss, plastic flesh. The latest Japanese super-phone squeezes 480 x 800 pixel into a 3.1-inch OLED display. Let that sink in for a second... the very same 384,000 pixels on a display smaller than the 3.8-inch LCD heralded by the Touch HD. The camera features a wide-angle lens, 9-point auto focus, face detection, anti-shake, and a YouTube video mode that records VGA video at 30fps to microSD. All this in a Japanese-only flip measuring 110 x 50 x 17.4 ~ 22-mm when it launches in early November.
