Stefan GP 'very close' to announcing drivers

Zoran Stefanovic on Wednesday refused to be drawn on the identity of the drivers for his hopeful formula one entrant Stefan GP.

The Serbian outfit is pushing hard to be included on the 2010 entry list, and it was reported earlier that Indian driver Karun Chandhok might have been signed for his $6m sponsorship purse.

It is widely expected that Kazuki Nakajima is already guaranteed one race seat, should Stefan GP be shone the green light to contest the forthcoming world championship with the withdrawn Toyota's 2010 package.

"We are in various negotiations, but it has not been sorted out completely
now," Stefanovic said in an interview with Italy's 422race.com.

"We are very close to (deciding) and very shortly we will be announcing
the drivers officially. At the moment not yet, but we are very near. But we still cannot confirm any names yet," he added.

Stefanovic would not say if Ralf Schumacher is being considered, but did reveal that at least one of Stefan's 2010 drivers "will be Japanese".

He also denied reports that, alongside spygate conspirator Mike Coughlan, sacked McLaren 'liegate' team manager Dave Ryan has been appointed to work with Stefan.

"No. I don't know how it came out, but Dave Ryan is not connected to our
team. Simply, he's not," Stefanovic said.

As for former Force India boss Colin Kolles, the Serbian businessman admitted that the Romanian-German "is in contact with us, but he's not part of the team".

Chandhok signs deal with Stefan GP - report

Stefan GP is reported to have signed a driver to complete its 2010 lineup.

Although without an official entry to race this season, the Serbian outfit is believed to have already signed the Toyota-backed former Williams driver Kazuki Nakajima.

At least one of the Cologne-designed Stefan cars has been painted Serbian national red ahead of its track debut, which according to rumours could now take place at the Barcelona group test next week.

Switzerland's Motorsport Aktuell reports that 26-year-old Indian GP2 driver Karun Chandhok, with $6 million of sponsorship in tow, may have been signed to be Nakajima's teammate.

It is believed that Chandhok's GP2 contract, valid for 2010, contains an exit clause in the event that a formula one seat is available.

His father is Vicky Chandhok, a high ranking Indian motor racing official, with links to F1's governing body FIA.

Indian media reports late last year said Chandhok Snr has "a strong relationship" with F1 chief executive Bernie Ecclestone, as well as with "a host of top FIA officials".

Karun Chandhok has responded to internet rumours on Thursday by stating that he has not signed a contract to be part of the Stefan GP team this year. Hope of joining the Formula 1 grid appears to have risen for the Serbian hopefuls after reports emerged that US F1 may elect not to compete in 2010.

With the Argentinean and German media reporting that US F1 may not race this year, with driver José María López and team sponsor YouTube then possibly switching to fellow debutant outfit Campos, Indian Chandhok has confirmed - contrary to some reports - that no union has been established between himself and the Stefan team.

'Lots of questions about the internet stories from yesterday…' the GP2 driver began to explain on his personal Twitter account. 'To clarify, at the moment there is no agreement with Stefan GP....

Trust me, if I have an F1 deal signed and confirmed, I would shout it out proudly from the roof tops!'

Ko će se naći za upravljačem Stefan GP bolida? Konačno znamo ime prvog vozača, a to je Kazuki Nakajima, bivši Williamsov pilot.

Kao što je poznato, Japanac je bio na platnom spisku Toyote, a prošle sezone se baš i nije proslavio jer nije uspeo da osvoji nijedan poen. Čini se da je on još uvek deo „paketa“.

Međutim, što se drugog vozača tiče, dolazimo do male „zavrzlame“, jer je po poslednjim izveštajima u igri za drugog vozača Indijac Karun Chandhok, ali i bivši F1 šampion Jacques Villeneuve, koji je vezivan za mnoge novopečene timove. Miloš Pavlović definitivno „otpada“ iz čitave priče, prvenstveno iz finansijskih razloga.

Šta će se na kraju desiti, bićemo svedoci, ali ono što je najvažnije za sve nas je da se bolidi Stefan GP-a nađu na gridu. Bez obzira na možda slabe potencijale Nakajime, ili neiskustvo Chandhoka, lepo bi bilo videti srpski tim u Formuli 1, a još ukoliko bi se iza upravljača našao Jacques Villeneuve, sreći ne bi bilo kraja, a dobre su šanse da se upravo on nađe pored Japancu u srpskom bolidu...

Ipak, čini se da su pozicije Stefana GP mnogo čvršće u odnosu na Campos i USF1 nego što se to činilo na prvi pogled.

Po poslednjim izvešajima iz Španije, USF1 tim verovatno neće startovati u Bahrainu, a u pitanje su dovedene i dve sledeće trke, što je dovelo u opasnost čitavu sezonu.

Da bi stvari bile gore po američki tim, glasine govore da se jedan od glavnih finansijera, osnivač YouTubea, Chad Hurley povukao, a da Brian Bonner, bivši vozač IndyCar serije i šef razvoja tima ne radi više.
USF1 još uvek nema drugog vozača, a Hurley (takođe po glasinama) razmatra davanje podrške Camposu ili

Stefanu GP. Ono što je dodatno indikativno je da je USF1 štab navodno na prodaju??

btw...u oglasu, u kome se prodaje prostor u kome se nalazi USF1, navedeno je da se prodaje sa ugovorom o oznajmljivanju na određeni period (čini mi se 4 godine) timu iz F1...tako da se ne prodaje "štab USF1" već objekti u kojima se oni nalaze...


jedva čekam da vidim bolid SGP-a...skroz crven...malo svetliji od Ferrari-ja
