edit: u mclarenu su ubedjeni da alonso prelazi u Ferrari sledece sezone. gledam prenos treninga i svi pricaju o tome. Najverovatnija postava Ferrarija za sledecu godinu je Massa - Alonso. Kimi ide u wrc

Vi ljudi izgleda ne umete da napravite razliku između "najbolji" i "najuspešniji".

Šumaher je nesporno najuspešniji vozač u istoriji F1, ali da li je najbolji to je podložno diskusiji. Pravila su se menjala tokom godina, broj trka u sezoni, snage timova, mnogim odličnim vozačima nije pružena prava šansa da se dokažu itd...

Nije nemoguće da se za nekih 20-30 godina pojavi neki novi vozač koji će zaređati 10 titula. Da li to znači da je bolji vozač od Šumahera? Po meni ne. toliko od mene na tu temu Smile

Što se tiče današnjeg treninga, Alonso je napravio veliku glupost u poslednjoj krivini pred startno ciljni pravac i lansirao Hajdfelda. Videlo se da se očajnički trudi da se pokaže pred domaćom publikom, ali je ispao smešan Smile

Exclusive: Stefan Grand Prix owner speaks out on F1 selection row


Zoran Stefanovic reveals that his firm pitched for the Formula 2 tender and will be building a F1 car regardless of whether it gets an entry


Why don't you think that the team selection process was fair?

It is not a question of "fair". European law, and not just EU, but all over the world, says that any sort of pre-arranged business is forbidden and will be sanctioned and declared void. It is this rule, not the feeling of fairness that forced us to complain, as European law states. We are not troublemakers, we want fair competition.

There is one thing we have to state - that history has taught us. Last year we, AMCO, applied at FIA F2 tender. We did not win that bid. We remained silent and nothing happened. Nobody knows about that. Dr Jonathan Palmer's company won that tender with price of 250,000 euros per driver. The AMCO price was firmly set at 240,000 euros. We had similar packages, with Avon tyres and so on, only the engine choice differed. And again, nobody knows about that, because we are not complaining.

Please, don't get me wrong - I do respect Jonathan Palmer enormously. He was always serious and successful in his racing and his business, as I closely watched him during the time. Also, I am of the opinion that he was the one who invented idea of rejuvenating F2, and a very good idea this is. His efforts, preparation and F2 race series is well organized and successful, which I admire. He rightly won and we have no objection. We feel there is no right to complain. But not now. Not in the case of 2010 F1 entries; now we have an entirely different situation.

Stefan Grand Prix is firmly of the opinion that ALL Formula 1 teams must be constructors - that IS a fundamental part of the DNA of Formula 1. What we learned is that none of the three chosen teams have their own facilities and none of them are looking to have it any time soon. After much lengthy explanation from the FIA during past years that only a proper "constructor" with full production facilities will be allowed into F1, it seems strange that the FIA have not opted for entries with some facilities. Everybody knows that as well as us, another three teams also have it. And none of us was accepted. There is no place for Lola, no place for Epsilon Euskadi, none for Prodrive and none for Stefan Grand Prix. All of us with production facilities. And this time it will be not be the situation that "nobody knows about that". Now we complain. Rightly, we think. Among other things, we designed and produced a racing sports car which won four regional championships back in 2000. AMCO is proud of our helicopter design for a German buyer. Our company is offering capacities to the wider European industry. We can design, make prototypes, machine parts (all sorts), make molds and patterns and assemble finished products. We also have large capacities for aerospace level gear production.

How advanced was you car design?


Very, but because of the present situation regarding entries we do not have a clear picture when the project must be finished. However, our intention is to build a car regardless for 2010, and to use this car for testing at least.

Have you signed any technical staff?

Yes. At the moment we are only going to say that we are very pleased to secure services of Mike Coughlan (  Smile ) Other additions will be published later.

Now the cost cap regulations have been dropped would you still be interested in entering?

We are definitely interested in entering the FIA Formula 1 World Championship.
Stefan GP was entering as "budget capped team" because that was the only way to enter.

What engine would you have used?

No comments at the moment - it will be very interesting for all.

When did you decide that you wanted to enter F1?

Basically 25 years ago. I was always interested in engineering production and since starting our engineering business we are certain that motorsport, especially Formula 1, will be the ultimate goal for us. I tried to do it before, but all the pieces could not quite fall in place, so we did not publish all the details in the media. Nevertheless it was not without its achievements, as we managed to secure proper funding. Regarding our technical capabilities at this time (1997) we built titanium pneumatic valves for an F1 customer in England

Where would the team be based?

Our HQ, and our SGP team, is based in Belgrade, Serbia (  Smile ). Belgrade is just a two and a half hour flight from London. We have to travel by truck approximatively less then 1000 km to Monza or Mugello. Hungaroring is just 380 km from Belgrade. Munich is 1000 km
and London is 2000 km from Belgrade by road.
Serbia has a history in aircraft production spanning nearly 100 years. Over the years many aircraft have been produced in significant volumes, and the industry was very well connected to the European aircraft industry. Military jet aircraft were fitted with Rollce-Royce engines, and were produced under licence.
Also, domestic companies were the first choice for outsourcing from Boeing, Israel's aviation industry and many others including Russian companies.
AMCO was listed as a supplier to the Ariane V space programme (the ESA's expendable launch system).
Importantly for us, several of our associate companies are very experienced and have the required knowledge and machinery for most of the production processes. For example, one company which we represent for Europe is producing the same sort of valves as
Moog - and considerably cheaper.



But Belgrade is not exactly Milton Keynes or Mooresville, are there the facilities to build a car there?

In Belgrade we have 7 wind tunnels and one water tunnel. Three of the wind tunnels are suitable for car aerodynamics, the other wind tunnels are for aerospace and one even reaches Mach 4. (A gde su ti silni tuneli locirani?  Smile ...ocu reci - jel on ovo ozbiljno ili laze naivne novinare?  Smile )
Stefan GP has two of these wind tunnels at our disposal for day-to-day use. Initially, we were offering them for hire, at a cheaper rate than our European counterparts. The smaller tunnel accommodates 45% scale models and has a wind speed of 65m/s, whereas the larger tunnel has test section width of 4.2m and height of 3.2m, with a wind
speed of over 500km/h.

Our composite facilities are not yet up to the required level but shortly it will be.
Therefore we are positive that Belgrade is of benefit to us.

Is a modern F1 team a viable business?

Any business must be viable, and contrary to popular belief F1 must be also viable, or there is no chance to survive. The examples of Honda and BMW just confirm that. We think that F1 team income is twofold. Firstly sponsorship money and endorsements, and non-material as the second. The first one is obvious but the second is harder to explain.

Image and influence are "visible", but we think that higher level of organization, better engineering education and high-tech implementation are equally as important. The best example of this is Honda, of whom this was true in mid 1960s. That sort of benefit forces us to consider F1 as the way to go, not just because we like motorsport - although we do, very much.

Subsequently, our figures show that we could break-even and not lose money in the short to medium term. To be viable, an F1 team must be very carefully organized, and
not overcrowded. Being lean (hopefully also "mean" to opposition) is key. And, yes, we know it is hard to achieve the proper balance. The sponsorship side of operations is of utmost importance, and changing is yet again the name of the game. SGP is in line with
current trends and we are looking very much to emerging markets, where we have very good contacts.
