SkyItalia's man of the match Dejan Stankovic gave this interview following Inter's 2-1 victory over Palermo:

Is Dejan Stankovic the secret of this Inter?
"I should pay my compliments to the whole team because it's difficult for everyone to bring home points from a stadium with fans like this, and I pay my compliments to them. It was a great match. We played an almost perfect first half, apart from the last ten seconds. I noticed an improvement in the whole team, lots of pride and desire to do well. Each one of us is prepared to play everywhere."

Is there one aspect more than another that can explain Inter's extraordinary continuity this season?
"I would say pride. After what happened last summer Inter have to show they're worth double than the others, and show lots of quantity, quality, and I repeat and underline, pride."

Before the Sporting match you said it would be a decisive game, but tonight's match was also very important because it ends a cycle of very hard and perhaps decisive games for the continuation of the season.
"We have six points more than Palermo now and four more than Roma, so we're a bit calmer. And we have already qualified in the Champions League. We're in front because we haven't done hardly anything wrong in these two months. We have shown who the true Inter are. Now we have to continue like this."

Inter have already faced their two main Scudetto rivals Roma and Palermo. Which of the two is the more dangerous opponent?
"It is hard to compare the two main rivals. It's difficult to face Palermo at the Barbera because they are supported by a great crowd and use dangerous tactics. Roma play spectacular football, have a lot of good players, keep a lot of possession and and are very solid up front, but we are Inter and I applaud my team-mates."

Roberto Mancini was asked why he named Adriano and Solari in his starting eleven to face Palermo in Sunday evening's 2-1 victory at the Renzo Barbera. The Inter coach replied: "We thought Adri would be really motivated by such an important game and we wanted to give Hernan a breather. Crespo has played a lot lately and he has been decisive. As regards Solari, I thought he could create problems for Corini with his ability at limiting opponents and counter-attacking. And Cambiasso wasn't in the right condition to play from the first minute. But both Adri and Santiago played very well. And when he was very tired at the end, Adri helped the team get up and always had the Palermo defence worried."

Replying to a question on which aspects of Inter's game can be improved, Mancini said: "Looking at the way we played and what we created, perhaps we should have killed off the game in the first half. The only lapse was in those twenty seconds when Amauri scored, but the ball he struck in the area did take a slight deflection which caught the defenders out. At the end of the first half I told the boys to continue to play like that and look for the goal because we would have got it in the end."

On the performance of Dejan Stankovic, Mancini added: "He has extraordinary ability; I have always thought he can be devastating. He can play in every role, he dictated the pace today and also did well when covering. He is an important player. But it's hard to find one player who did better than another tonight, it was a great performance by the team. We have done a very good job away to Palermo who deserve to be where they are in the table."

[FOTO Sunday, 26 November 2006 22:26:32] PALERMO - Sunday's big match at the Barbera finished in a 2-1 victory for the Nerazzurri, with Patrick Vieira hitting the winner after Amauri replied to Ibrahimovic's opener.

The result moves Inter six points clear of the Sicilians after thirteen rounds of Serie A games, and four points ahead of second-placed Roma.

Inter took an early lead when Adriano chested a long pass forward into the path of Zlatan Ibrahimovic who volleyed past Alberto Fontana from 30 yards to score his fifth league goal for the Nerazzurri.

Palermo grabbed an equaliser in added time at the end of the first half, Amauri flicking home with the outside of his right foot after meeting Bresciano's headed pass from Pisano's cross.

With goalscorers Ibrahimovic and Amauri both carrying knocks, Mancini and Guidolin introduced Crespo and Caracciolo early in the second half.

Inter retook the lead two minutes after Marco Materazzi rose in the Rosanero box to head a Stankovic corner on to the post. Adriano made a surging run down the middle then knocked wide to Vieira who ran on to the pass and crashed his first Serie A goal for Inter into the top right corner courtesy of a slight deflection off former Inter defender Dellafiore.

Inter survived late scares when Caracciolo stole in at the near post to head a Corini corner on to the woodwork before Bresciano forced a punched save from Julio Cesar with a blistering shot from distance.
