PPIANO GENTILE - The day after Inter's 1-0 derby defeat to AC Milan, Roberto Mancini anlalysed the Nerazzurri's performance with Roberto Scarpini on Inter Channel programme Bordo Campo:

Mancini, Ancelotti said he was very surprised at your decision to start the match with one striker, and that this caused many problems for Milan.
"We definitely weren't in top psychological condition and we were up against a very good Milan. With our usual formation we would have given them a lot more chances. For how we played it was a good match. It's a shame about how it ended."

How much were you penalised by Sinisa Mihajlovic's injury in the opening minutes, particularly in a match which has almost always been decided from set pieces in recent years?
"This definitely penalised us, too. Besides, with just one striker Mihajlovic is capable of picking out the midfielders and the forwards with a pass. This allowed us to stop Cambiasso and Pizarro retreating too much. He had made a good start and unfortunately he hurt himself."

Excluding the derby in the first half of this season, the defences have always done better than the attacks in recent derbies.
"Since I have been at Inter every derby has gone in this way, apart from the one in the first half of the season. Almost all of the goals have come from set pieces. When two sides are evenly balanced, careful and focused, a mistake can influence the result."

You said episodes would be decisive in this match and you were right.
"After Kaladze's goal we had two or three chances to equalise, but Milan created chances to double. When one of the two teams scores in these matches it becomes more difficult to recover, especially if the goal comes just twenty minutes from the end. It's the umpteenth time results of important matches haven't been positive for us this season. We, however, played a good match against Milan and I have no complaints to make."

According to the statistics the two teams were on a par, even though both were below their usual level.
"Perhaps we were less dangerous in attack because we had a striker less. But in the first half-hour of the first half we did very well. Kakà has been in extraordinary form lately and he was contained, and it's also our merit if Milan's playmaker Pirlo performed below par. When a goal is scored it's hard to come back in these matches between two equal teams."

You start again after Easter. The season isn't over and you have to look ahead.
"You always look ahead. There's obviously great disappointment over the Champions League exit and yesterday's derby defeat. But I still think our season hasn't been negative because the team has done better than last year. We haven't done enough in the big matches and this is the main difference from last season. But so far everyone has done a good job, even though a year is seen as disappointing when you don't win. I don't see it like this."

But the fans assess the season as negative because the hoped-for success hasn't come...
"This is understandable. It's right for the fans to have their opinion, but those who are on the pitch and those who know the work done cannot have the same idea. You can understand the disappointment when you don't win, but both us and the fans share this disappointment."

 MILAN - Inter president Giacinto Facchetti was interviewed by SkyItalia following the Nerazzurri's derby defeat.

Asked to comment on the empty Inter end at the Stadio Giuseppe Meazza, Facchetti said: "No one likes playing without fans. But there are two ways to protest against the team or the club: either come to the stadium and boo, or not come.

"The Adriano we saw today was the Adriano we all know and the one we hoped to have for the whole season. Unfortunately he has been through some difficult times this year.

"Now we have to continue to fight for second place even though we're five points behind. Milan are still in the Champions League and they could drop a few points along the way in the league. We must believe as long as we have a mathematical chance."

Facchetti was asked why Massimo Moratti was not at the Meazza for the 264th Milan derby. "He's definitely bitter and disappointed at the moment. But the fact that he didn't come today doesn't mean he no longer wants to come. It's not the first time he hasn't come to the stadium to follow the team, he just preferred to stay at home today. We were hoping to give him a victory, but unfortunately we just have to settle for a good performance by Inter."

Cristiano Zanetti spoke on Inter Channel after Friday's Milan derby defeat. "We made a very strong start and caused problems for Milan," the Nerazzurri midfielder said. "But they played with great calm and emerged. We played well and kept the tempo high, but Milan were luckier.

"Physically we were in good shape and you couldn't see much difference between us and them on the pitch, but this is football and there's nothing we can do about it. We tried to contain Kakà who is very dangerous on the break. We blocked their forwards and they scored through a defender because of a careless mistake on our part. And Figo also had a great scoring chance.

"Personally I have always tried to give my all when called into action. I have always tried to do my best. Me and all my team-mates have always tried our hardest. We gave our all this evening as well."

MILAN - With regard to the declarations reported by several Italian media, taken from a supposed interview with Brazilian portal UOL Esporte, Adriano clarifies through F.C. Internazionale that he does not acknowledge the declarations attributed to him, adding that his disappointment is related exclusively to the team's difficult period. Adriano confirms his complete faith in the club and the team, as he confirmed to Massimo Moratti in a private meeting several days ago.

Adriano's agent Gilmar Rinaldi pointed out: "I think the boy has been misunderstood. He is disappointed only because he wants to win something important with Inter to see happiness on the face of Dr Moratti, who deserves to win more than anyone else in Italy. And this is why several months ago myself and Adriano confirmed to Dr Moratti our commitment and renewed the (player's) contract until 30 June 2010."
