Italijanski novinari su pauzu u prvenstvu prekratili otvaranjem polemike između najboljeg fudbalera Intera Dejana Stankovića i veznog igrača Milana Klarensa Sedorfa. Holanđanin je poručio najvećem rivalu da uživa još malo u uspesima u Seriji A, jer će od sledeće sezone "milanisti" ponovo dominirati na Apeninima. Na odgovor Srbina nije se dugo čekalo.

- Kad su mi novinari u Bahreinu, gde smo proveli prethodna četiri dana, preneli izjavu Sedorfa, rekao sam da on i svi ostali koji tako misle u timu Milana govore to zbog straha od Intera. Sedorf je pokušao da omalovažava naše rezultate tako što je spomenuo izostanak Juventusa iz Serije A, a nije se setio da kaže kako smo do prvog mesta došli pobedama nad Fjorentinom, Romom, Palermom, Laciom, Katanijom i ostalima. Milan je igrao protiv istih rivala, pa su ostvarili sedam pobeda, sedam remija i imali četiri poraza - kaže Dejan Stanković za Kurir.

Kakav je vaš odnos s Holanđaninom?
- Super, i na terenu i izvan njega. Pozdravimo se uvek, popričamo, tako da ovu polemiku ne treba shvatiti kao nekakvu netrpeljivost. On je branio interese svog tima, a ja sam štitio Inter.

Napravili ste uvertiru pred milanski derbi?
- Srešćemo se mi i pre derbija, jer posećujemo iste restorane. Biće to prilika da se nasmejemo nedavnoj polemici.

Kako je bilo u Bahreinu?
- Otišli smo tamo da bismo uveličali proslavu povodom 50 godina od osnivanja njihovog fudbalskog saveza. Odigrali smo jednu utakmicu protiv njihove reprezentacije, koju vodi Nemac Hans Peter Brigel, i bilo nam je zaista prijatno.

Nije vas bilo u timu za kup utakmicu s Empolijem. Povredili ste se?
- Da, u poslednjem minutu utakmice osetio sam blagi bol u mišiću. Zato sam ovih dana išao na terapiju, malo se odmarao, ali već u subotu biću u timu za derbi severa Italije s Torinom Nikole Lazetića.

Šta navijači Intera mogu da očekuju od nastavka sezone i Dejana Stankovića?
- Idemo na duplu krunu, to je sigurno. Mislim da smo igrama u prvom delu šampionata dokazali da smo najbolji tim, a sada treba da dovršimo započet posao. U Ligi šampiona planiramo da doguramo što dalje, makar korak više nego prošle godine, kad smo zaustavljeni u četvrtfinalu od Viljareala. A, kad dođemo do polufinala, tu je blizu i finale. Neka nas samo zdravlje posluži, biće trofeja ove godine - poručio je Stanković.
      

Bez pojačanja u januaru

Trener Roberto Manćini je izrazio želju da mu uprava dovede Antonija Kasana i Andreja Ševčenka. Koliko je to realno?
- Mislim da će to ostati lepe želje. Ne očekujem velika pojačanja u zimskom prelaznom roku, a nisam siguran ni da su nam trenutno potrebni igrači takvog kalibra. Ako bude nekih promena, onda će biti samo odlazaka onih koji nisu zadovoljni minutažom.
Odlazi i Figo u Saudijsku Arabiju.
- Nije sigurno, jer je dogovor postignut i treba da se ozvaniči u avgustu, a do tada svašta može da se dogodi i promeni.

TURIN - Adriano scored for the third game running, and Zlatan Ibrahimovic and Marco Materazzi were also on target as Serie A leaders Inter defeated Torino 3-1 in a gripping Week 19 clash at the Stadio Olimpico to open up a double-figure lead at the top of the table ahead of Sunday afternoon's match between second-placed Roma and Messina in Sicily.

The win sees Mancini's team set a new record of twelve consecutive top-flight victories and extend their long unbeaten run to 22 games.

Adriano, partnering Ibra in attack with Crespo on the bench, combined with his compatriot Maicon on 25 minutes to head in a right-wing cross.

The Nerazzurri had two good chances to increase their lead before the break. Abbiati blocked Vieira's half-volley from a sublime flicked pass by Ibrahimovic, before Adriano missed from six yards after some devastating wing play by Ibra and Maicon.

Torino equalised thirteen minutes after the restart when Fiore's shot from the edge of the box went in off Materazzi with Julio Cesar stranded.

But, as has often happened this season, Inter reacted immediately and were back in front within a matter of minutes when Ibrahimovic latched on to a long-range pass from Stankovic before hooking his eighth of the season into the far corner from an acute angle.

Julio Cesar kept out Stellone's flicked header from De Ascentis' left-wing cross as the Granata came looking for a second equaliser, but after Adriano was twice denied from close range it was Inter who struck again when Materazzi beat substitute keeper Taibi from the penalty spot after Abbiati was shown a straight red for fouling Adriano.

Roma je na minus devet, Palermo još četiri koraka iza, ostali kao da se više i ne takmiče. Inter je novi rekorder u Seriji A sa 12 uzastopnih pobeda, prvo mesto je zacementirano.Trener Roberto Manćini juče je častio Dejana Stankovića i saigrače slobodnim danom.

- Mnogo nam znači to što smo u nastavak prvenstvene trke ušli sa pobedom. Rekao sam pre utakmice sa Torinom da je samo potrebno da budemo na uobičajenom nivou i da neće biti problema - kaže Dejan Stanković. - Drago mi je što smo uradili sve onako kako treba, nismo reskirali, bili smo sigurni u sebe. Imali smo dve greške, jedna je gol, koji smo praktično dali sami sebi, a druga šansa koju je imao domaćin. Za devedeset minuta, priznaćete, nije mnogo.

Adrijano je blistao?

- Moram da kažem da smo svi učestvovali u njegovom vraćanju posle krize koju je imao, od rukovodstva kluba, stručnog štaba, do nas igrača. Rekao sam da smo bez njega mnogo jaki, zamislite kako kao celina izgledamo sa pravim Adrijanom. Odlično smo upakovani. Napravljena je ravnoteža u timu, nema slabog mesta. Roberto Manćini je sa Sinišom Mihajlovićem i kondicionim trenerom Ivanom Karminatijem ove sezone napravio pravi posao. Samo da nastavimo u istom ritmu.
Odvojili ste se na pristojnu distancu od najbližih rivala?

- Mnogo je teško kad se juri, kada nemaš pravo na kiks. Pritisak je ogroman, a Roma je platila ceh protiv Mesine. Ekipa psihički pada kada primi gol u poslednjem minutu, izgubi dva već osvojena boda, a njima se upravo to desilo. Normalno, mi gledamo sebe. Ova prednost nam garantuje mirnu glavu. Realno, u odnosu na ostale ekipe, kvalitet je na našoj strani, samo treba da, pored rivala, pobedimo i sami sebe. Za sada nam to jako dobro ide.
Oborili ste Romin rekord od 11 uzastopnih pobeda?

- I taj podatak govori koliko smo sigurni u sebe. Gledamo da osvojimo što više ove sezone. Igramo na tri fronta, a rezultate ćemo da sabiramo za pet meseci. Ništa nam neće vredeti rekordi ako ne osvojimo ono što nam se nudi. Trenutno smo mislima u domaćim takmičenjima, čeka nas paklen raspored, a za Ligu šampiona ima vremena, jer je prvi meč sa Valensijom tek za mesec dana - završio je Stanković.

Massimo Moratti was interviewed by journalists today on leaving the Saras offices:

Dr Moratti: aren't you irritated by the talk of this great Inter being made great by the arrival of two Juventus players at the start of the season? But many people say that Milan were also after two Juventus players during the summer transfer window .
"Yes, but these are polemics..."

But it is certainly irritating for the Inter fans...
"The fact that they were Juventus players for a while is not a mortal sin. They are two champions. Juventus agreed to sell them to us, so it was also them and not just us who wanted it. But most of all it was the players' wish to come and play with us, and this is the main thing. We have seen how well and professionally these two players are playing. We have seen how Ibrahimovic is improving day after day, and how Vieira is performing to a consistently high level. Is Ibrahimovic destined to become the new symbol of Inter, like Ronaldo used to be?
"Being a champion, he's destined to. It's you of the media who make a player a symbol. So if he continues to play like this you will always consider him symbol."

Your lead over Roma has increased to nine points. Are you relaxed?
"The more it increases, the better, but we're never relaxed because mathematically there's no certainty, though it does give us the chance to work with more tranquillity."

Mancini said this morning that his contract is not a formality. Does this declaration worry you?
"No, he said something that is very true. The contract renewal is a serious matter which is done with a project in mind. But I'm not at all worried because I don't see any difficulties regarding the contract renewal, neither on my part nor his."

So is it just a question of time?
"Yes, we just haven't had time. When I have had time, he hasn't, and vice versa. But we have never been worried about this. We have met and talked about it. We have always considered this thing as a consequence of what is happening."

Moggiopoli was the most used word of 2006. What do you hope it will be in 2007?
"After that interlude, I hope this one is seen as a normal championship. When I hear it said that this championship is abnormal, it seems to me they might not have understood that the other championships were abnormal and rigged. This one isn't."

Milan CEO Galliani said yesterday that this is an unusual championship because of Juventus' relegation and Milan's penalisation. What do you think about this?
"Yes, but they are still there. The penalisation is not 28 points."

What do you think of Ronaldo being linked to Milan?
"I would be disappointed. But as a professional he is free to choose, as are Milan, of course."

Have you heard from Ronaldo in these days?
"No. It's not something that happens every day."

At the start of the championship Galliani declared 'we will make up eight points by December'. Now he says the championship is already over. Isn't this a bit of a contradiction?
"Yes, but everyone makes contradictions in football, because football can be surprising. You can't easily make plans, and what you say or think doesn't always happen in the end."

Your opinion of Adriano's form?
"It seemed as if he was finished. This means that the club and the technical staff chose well, also when he went to Brazil. But he too has done well to return to being the player we are seeing in these days. He's still not one hundred percent, but the credit goes to everyone, especially the protagonist. So we're expecting him to get back to 100%."

APPIANO GENTILE - After this morning's training session and ahead of the Tim Cup quarter-final return against Empoli, Inter boss Roberto Mancini answered questions from the press in his pre-match news conference:

Mancini: despite Inter's excellent first half of the season there are those who continue to say that you are a cynical team while Roma are spectacular. Does this bother you?
"No. What bothers me is when they speak for me. If someone else says it, it's obviously not a problem because each person is entitled to their own opinion. They asked me the same question in Rome yesterday, and I replied that Inter and Roma are two different sides in terms of their play and physicalness. We are a different squad to Roma and they have a completely different style of play. Those who watch might prefer one style to another. Each person has his own opinion, but I have never said certain things."

An article of recent days says you have changed a lot compared to your first two seasons at Inter, and that you have become a nicer person. What do you think of this observation?
"No idea. A person always tries to improve himself, although I don't think it's easy to change your nature that much when you reach a certain age. But sometimes, when you don't know someone well, you can change opinion after getting to know them."

There has been talk of Inter's renewed interest in Riquelme...
"So let's write tomorrow that Riquelme will come to Inter... (smiles). I prefer not to talk about the transfer market. When I say Inter have a solid foundation, I mean it because I am convinced that Inter have worked well in these past three years, even during difficult times. We have created a good structure, there's no need to turn everything upside-down. We need two or three reinforcements, maybe of a certain age, but these are things we need to assess. And it's obvious that I consider Riquelme a great player."

Zlatan Ibrahimovic is in extraordinary form. How much credit does Mancini deserve for the Swede's improvement, and how much does the comparison with Marco van Basten stand up?
"Ibra is extraordinary. I think van Basten was one of the greatest of all because besides being a goalscorer, he was pure class. Ibrahimovic has the same class as van Basten and I think he can still improve. And Van Basten also found it a bit hard at the start when he arrived in Italy. The comparison can stand up and I think Ibra can also become a great goalscorer in the near future."

Mancini played for teams that won Scudettos and other competitions...
"Yes. Teams who had never won before..."

What makes Inter so strong? What has changed in these three years?
"Inter is a strong team because it has strong players. And like I said before, you don't build great teams in a year. You need time and the luck to win at the start, but a team only becomes solid and strong if you build it over time. The club deserves great credit because it has bought good players who are decisive when they play."

But Inter have always had great players...
"Sure, like Ronaldo who was one of the greatest players in the world. Sometimes, however, you need a bit of continuity to put together a great team."

Will you rest a few players tomorrow, and will we see others who have recovered from their injuries?
"Certainly, but we will make a final assessment tomorrow morning when we're back here in Appiano for the pre-match retreat. But I can tell you in advance that Adriano will almost certainly rest because he has an ankle problem, even though he trained with the squad today. Basically, it will be a chance to see players who have been used less lately. But we will make a better assessment tomorrow morning. We will see how Ibra is, while Crespo will probably play."

There's great enthusiasm surrounding Inter. There's even talk among the fans of a Scudetto- Champions League double. What do you think about this?
"The fans rightly have this enthusiasm, I think it's quite normal. But to win you always have to wait until the end and hope the team continues to play like it's doing. I continue to say that it's better to think about our daily work rather than listen to all the rubbish they say, like the thing about my contract. We have five very tough months ahead of us, especially now the second half of the championship begins, with a series of very tough games. And if everything goes well tomorrow evening we will have a Tim Cup semi-final to play, and then the Champions League returns, so we will be playing very difficult games every three days and we can't think about unimportant things. Is a championship- Champions League double possible? I don't know, but I think all the first-placed teams in their championships who are in the Champions League hope to win both competitions. But only one team can win the Champions League. We'll have to see what condition we and our opponents are in when the European Cup returns."
