SOUTHWEST ASIA (AFPN) -- U.S. Central Command Air Forces officials released the airpower summary for June 2 to 4.

June 4
In Afghanistan June 3, Air Force A-10 Thunderbolt IIs, a B-1B Lancer and Royal Air Force Harrier GR-7s responded to coalition forces taking small-arms fire from Taliban extremists near Gereshk. The A-10s conducted a strafing pass, firing cannon rounds and ending the engagement.

In total, coalition aircraft flew 26 close-air-support missions in support of Operation Enduring Freedom. These missions included support to coalition and Afghan troops, reconstruction activities and route patrols.

Air Force A-10s, F-16 Fighting Falcons and a B-1B also provided close-air support to coalition troops in contact with enemy forces near Asadabad and Orgun-E.

Seven U.S. Air Force intelligence, surveillance and reconnaissance, or ISR, aircraft flew missions in support of operations in Afghanistan.

In Iraq, coalition aircraft flew 34 close-air-support missions for Operation Iraqi Freedom. These missions included support to coalition troops, infrastructure protection, reconstruction activities and operations to deter and disrupt terrorist activities.

Air Force F-16s, MQ-1 Predator unmanned aerial vehicles and Royal Air Force Tornado GR-4s provided close-air-support to coalition troops in contact with anti-Iraqi forces near Ramadi.

In addition, 15 Air Force, Navy and Royal Air Force ISR aircraft flew missions in support of operations in Iraq .

Air Force rescue and medical crews on HH-60 Pave Hawk helicopters flew two medical evacuation missions in support of OEF June 3.

Air Force C-130 Hercules and C-17 Globemaster IIIs provided intra-theater heavy airlift support, helping sustain operations throughout Afghanistan, Iraq and the Horn of Africa. They flew 170 airlift sorties, delivered 530 tons of cargo and transported 2,720 passengers.

Coalition C-130 crews from Australia, Canada and Korea flew in support of either OIF or OEF.

On June 3, U.S., French and Royal Air Force tankers flew 33 sorties and off-loaded almost 2 million pounds of fuel.

In support of OEF, coalition C-130s conducted two major airdrops to coalition ground forces in northeastern and central Afghanistan June 2. The aircraft dropped more than 4,000 pounds of humanitarian civil assistance, which included food, water and supplies for the local population. Also air-dropped was 19,600 pounds of troop re-supply, to include food, water and ammunition.

Coalition aircraft flew 20 close-air-support missions in support of OEF. These missions included support to coalition and Afghan troops, reconstruction activities and route patrols.

Air Force A-10s, a B-1B and a French M-2000 Mirage also provided close-air support to coalition troops in contact with enemy forces near Jalalabad and Qalat.

Seven Air Force and Royal Air Force ISR aircraft flew missions in support of operations in Afghanistan.

In Iraq, coalition aircraft flew 33 close-air-support missions for OIF. These missions included support to coalition troops, infrastructure protection, reconstruction activities and operations to deter and disrupt terrorist activities.

Air Force F-15 Eagles and F-16s provided close-air support to coalition troops in contact with anti-Iraqi forces near Baghdad.

In addition, 16 Air Force, Navy and Royal Air Force ISR aircraft flew missions in support of operations in Iraq .

In Afghanistan June 1, an Air Force B-1B, an MQ-1 Predator UAV and A-10s conducted precision strikes against Taliban positions near Deh Rawood. The B-1B expended precision-guided joint direct attack munitions on an enemy bunker and arsenal where Taliban extremists were loading munitions from a cave into a truck. The cave and arsenal were destroyed.

Air Force A-10s and an MQ-1 Predator UAV responded to coalition forces taking small-arms fire and rocket-propelled grenades from Taliban extremists near Tarin Kowt. The A-10s dropped general-purpose 500-pound bombs and fired cannon rounds on identified enemy targets, ending the engagement.

In two other engagements, Air Force A-10s, F-16s, Predator UAVs, Royal Air Force GR-7s and French Air Force M-2000s responded to troops in contact, conducting precision strikes and expending Hellfire missiles and cannon rounds near Deh Rawood and Tarin Kowt.

In total, coalition aircraft flew 28 close-air-support missions in support of OEF. These missions included support to coalition and Afghan troops, reconstruction activities and route patrols.

Six U.S. Air Force ISR aircraft flew missions in support of operations in Afghanistan.

In Iraq, coalition aircraft flew 42 close-air-support missions for Operation Iraqi Freedom. These missions included support to coalition troops, infrastructure protection, reconstruction activities and operations to deter and disrupt terrorist activities.

Air Force F-16s provided close-air support to coalition troops in contact with anti-Iraqi forces near Ramadi.

In addition, 14 Air Force and Navy ISR aircraft flew missions in support of operations in Iraq.

Air Force C-130s and C-17s provided intra-theater heavy airlift support, helping sustain operations throughout Afghanistan, Iraq and the Horn of Africa. They flew 170 airlift sorties, delivered 110 tons of cargo and transported 2,350 passengers.

Coalition C-130 crews from Australia, Canada and Korea flew in support of either OIF or OEF.

On June 1, U.S. and French tankers flew 29 sorties and off-loaded almost 1.8 million pounds of fuel.

On June 4, U.S. Air Force, Royal Air Force and French tankers flew 37 sorties and off-loaded almost 2.2 million pounds of fuel.

In total, coalition aircraft flew 26 close-air-support missions in support of Operation Enduring Freedom. These missions included support to coalition and Afghan troops, reconstruction activities and route patrols.

Five Air Force intelligence, surveillance and reconnaissance, or ISR, aircraft flew missions in support of operations in Afghanistan.

Additionally, 12 Air Force and Navy ISR aircraft flew missions in support of operations in Iraq. One Navy fighter aircraft performed in a non-traditional ISR role with its electro-optical and infrared sensors.

The B-1B expended several precision-guided bombs on a cave complex the extremists withdrew into, destroying the cave and ending the engagement.

In a separate engagement, A-10s expended general-purpose 500-pound bombs on Taliban extremists operating near Asadabad.

Royal Air Force Harrier GR-7s also provided close-air support to coalition troops in contact with enemy forces near Oruzgan.

In total, coalition aircraft flew 24 close-air-support missions in support of OEF. These missions included support to coalition and Afghan troops, reconstruction activities and route patrols.

Five Air Force ISR aircraft flew missions in support of operations in Afghanistan.

In Iraq, Navy F-18 Hornets expended Paveway II munitions on the point of origin of an attack on Balad Air Base.

CENTAF releases airpower summary

SOUTHWEST ASIA (AFPN) -- U.S. Central Command Air Forces officials have released the airpower summary for June 15.

In Afghanistan June 14, Air Force A-10 Thunderbolt IIs and a B-1B Lancer conducted precision strikes on insurgent defensive fighting locations, compounds, cave entrances and troops near Khowst. The aircraft expended numerous precision-guided joint direct attack munitions, guided bomb unit-12 munitions, general-purpose 500-pound bombs and cannon rounds.

In a separate engagement, Air Force A-10s provided close-air-support to coalition forces taking small-arms fire and rocket-propelled grenades near Qalat. The A-10s conducted several strafing passes and expended general-purpose 500-pound bombs, ending the engagement.

In total, coalition aircraft flew 33 close-air-support missions in support of Operation Enduring Freedom. These missions included support to coalition and Afghan troops, reconstruction activities and route patrols.

Five Air Force and Royal Air Force intelligence, surveillance and reconnaissance, or ISR, aircraft flew missions in support of operations in Afghanistan.

In Iraq, coalition aircraft flew 54 close-air-support missions for Operation Iraqi Freedom. These missions included support to coalition troops, infrastructure protection, reconstruction activities and operations to deter and disrupt terrorist activities.

Navy F-18 Hornets and Royal Air Force Tornado GR-4s provided close-air support to coalition troops in contact with anti-Iraqi forces near Al Hawijah and Al Mahmudiyah.

In addition, 14 Air Force, Navy and Royal Air Force ISR aircraft flew missions in support of operations in Iraq. Navy fighter aircraft performed in a non-traditional ISR role with their electro-optical and infrared sensors.

Air Force C-130 Hercules and C-17 Globemaster IIIs provided intra-theater heavy airlift support, helping sustain operations throughout Afghanistan, Iraq and the Horn of Africa. They flew 140 airlift sorties, delivered 700 tons of cargo and transported 3,130 passengers. This included more than 37,000 pounds of troop re-supply air-dropped in eastern and central Afghanistan.

Coalition C-130 crews from Australia, Canada and Korea flew in support of either OIF or OEF.

On June 13, Air Force and Royal Air Force tankers flew 41 sorties and off-loaded almost 2.6 million pounds of fuel.

SOUTHWEST ASIA (AFPN) -- U.S. Central Command Air Forces officials have released the airpower summary for June 16.

In Afghanistan June 15, French Mirage fighter aircraft conducted precision strikes on Taliban extremists near Qalat. The Mirages expended guided bomb unit-12 munitions on extremists hiding in a tree line.

In a separate engagement, Air Force A-10 Thunderbolt IIs and a B-1B Lancer responded to coalition forces taking small-arms fire from Taliban extremists near Tarin Kowt. The A-10s expended general-purpose 500-pound bombs, GBU-12s and cannon rounds on Taliban extremists in the open and on a compound from where they were operating.

Royal Air Force Harrier GR-7s also provided close-air support to coalition troops in contact with enemy forces near Oruzgan.

In total, coalition aircraft flew 26 close-air-support missions in support of Operation Enduring Freedom. These missions included support to coalition and Afghan troops, reconstruction activities and route patrols.

Six U.S. Air Force intelligence, surveillance and reconnaissance, or ISR, aircraft flew missions in support of operations in Afghanistan.

In Iraq, coalition aircraft flew 40 close-air-support missions for Operation Iraqi Freedom. These missions included support to coalition troops, infrastructure protection, reconstruction activities and operations to deter and disrupt terrorist activities.

Air Force F-16 Fighting Falcons and F-15 Eagles and Royal Air Force Tornado GR-4s provided close-air support to coalition troops in contact with anti-Iraqi forces near Mosul, Samarra and Tall Afar.

In addition, 12 Air Force, Navy and Royal Air Force ISR aircraft flew missions in support of operations in Iraq.

Air Force C-130 Hercules and C-17 Globemaster IIIs provided intra-theater heavy airlift support, helping sustain operations throughout Afghanistan, Iraq and the Horn of Africa. They flew 150 airlift sorties, delivered 400 tons of cargo and transported 2,400 passengers. This included more than 43,700 pounds of troop re-supply air-dropped in east and central Afghanistan.

Coalition C-130 crews from Australia, Canada and Korea flew in support of either OIF or OEF.

On June 14, Air Force, French and Royal Air Force tankers flew 42 sorties and off-loaded almost 2.4 million pounds of fuel.

In total, coalition aircraft flew 25 close-air-support missions in support of Operation Enduring Freedom. These missions included support to coalition and Afghan troops, reconstruction activities and route patrols.

Air Force A-10 Thunderbolt IIs also provided close-air support to coalition troops in contact with enemy forces near Oruzgan and Tarin Kowt.

Four Air Force intelligence, surveillance and reconnaissance, or ISR, aircraft flew missions in support of operations in Afghanistan.

They flew 170 airlift sorties, delivered 370 tons of cargo and transported 3,200 passengers. This included more than 22,000 pounds of troop resupply air-dropped in Afghanistan.

Coalition C-130 crews from Japan flew in support of either OIF or OEF.

On June 17, Air Force and Royal Air Force tankers flew 45 sorties and off-loaded almost 2.7 million pounds of fuel.

In Afghanistan June 16, an Air Force B-1B conducted precision strikes on a cave complex, hillside and ridgeline near Khowst where anti-coalition forces were engaged. The aircraft expended several precision-guided JDAMs, destroying the cave complex and ending the engagement.

In a separate engagement, Air Force A-10s and Royal Air Force Harrier GR-7s responded to coalition forces taking small arms fire from Taliban extremists near Orgun-E. The A-10s conducted strafing passes, expending cannon rounds and ending the engagement.

A B-1B also provided close-air support to coalition troops in contact with enemy forces near Parmakan.

In total, coalition aircraft flew 28 close-air-support missions in support of OEF. These missions included support to coalition and Afghan troops, reconstruction activities and route patrols.

Six Air Force ISR aircraft flew missions in support of OEF.

In Iraq, coalition aircraft flew 56 close-air-support missions for OIF. These missions included support to coalition troops, infrastructure protection, reconstruction activities and operations to deter and disrupt terrorist activities.

Air Force rescue and medical crews on HH-60 Pave Hawk helicopters flew three medical evacuation missions in support of OEF June 16. Six patients with urgent injuries were saved as a result of these missions. In addition, HH-60s and pararescue teams conducted search operations for the two missing Soldiers in Iraq.

In Iraq yesterday, Air Force F-16s conducted a precision strike on a building containing anti-coalition forces in the vicinity of Fallujah. The aircraft expended a guided bomb unit-12, successfully destroying the building.

Air Force F-16s and an MQ-1 Predator UAV, and Navy F-18s also provided close-air support to coalition troops in contact with enemy forces near Al Mahmudiyah.

In total, coalition aircraft flew 55 close-air-support missions in support of OIF. These missions included support to coalition troops, infrastructure protection, reconstruction activities and operations to deter and disrupt terrorist activities.

Thirteen Air Force and Navy ISR aircraft flew missions in support of operations in Iraq. Navy fighter aircraft performed in a non-traditional ISR role with their electro-optical and infrared sensors.

In Afghanistan, coalition aircraft flew 24 close-air-support missions for OEF. These missions included support to coalition and Afghan troops, reconstruction activities and route patrols.

Air Force A-10s provided close-air support to coalition troops in contact with enemy forces near Asadabad and Bagram.

In addition, eight Air Force and French ISR aircraft flew missions in support of operations in Afghanistan.

Air Force C-130s and C-17s provided intra-theater heavy airlift support, helping sustain operations throughout Afghanistan, Iraq and the Horn of Africa. They flew 165 airlift sorties, delivered 460 tons of cargo and transported 2,300 passengers. This included 85,000 pounds of troop resupply air-dropped in northeast and central Afghanistan.

Coalition C-130 crews from Australia, Canada and Korea flew in support of either OIF or OEF.

On June 15, Air Force, Royal Air Force and French tankers flew 36 sorties and off-loaded almost 2.2 million pounds of fuel.
