U2 :: Biografije izvodjaca i bendova

U2 je irski rok bend osnovan u Dablinu 1976. Bend od početka do danas sačinjavaju : Bono (Paul Hewson, vokal, usna harmonika i povremeno gitara), The Edge (David Evans, klavijature, gitara i povremeno vokal), Adam Clayton (bas gitara) i Larry Mullen Jr. (bubnjevi). Njihovi stariji radovi su okarakterisani kao post punk ali su kasnije preuzeli formirane uticaje iz mnogo različitih žanrova popularne muzike. Njihovi tekstovi su najviše orijentisani na lične teme i društveno-političke probleme. Grupa U2 je do danas prodala više od 120 miliona studijskih albuma i više od 50 miliona kompilacija i snimaka live nastupa, šest puta je imala neki od albuma na prvom mjestu američkih top lista a devet puta u Britaniji. Osvojili su 22 Grammy nagrade, najviše nakon Stivija Vondera.

U2 je jedna od najpopularnijih rok grupa još od osamdesetih. Grupa je politički aktivna, posebno u sferi ljudskih prava. Aktivisti su projekta Make Poverty History, a Bono je aktivista i organizacije DATA (Debt, AIDS, Trade in Africa – Državni dug, sida i trgovina u Africi).
