Reja Fancying Napoli's Chances Against Roma 

The Coach of the Partenopei believes that Napoli have every chance of beating the Giallorossi on Saturday at the Olimpico stadium of Rome.


Edy Reja and his Napoli have been one of the brightest surprises in this early part of the season, with the Azzurri obtaining some very good results and performing well even against big teams like in the last matchday against Inter.

"We know how to play and quite well," confirmed the Napoli coach. "We can do so even in Rome.

"I say that we must continue on the path of Milan against Inter, where we play with conviction and knowledge of our potential," continued Reja.

"It's clear that we shall have an attitude of high respect towards a big team of the league like Roma, but without too much fear."

Napoli are currently in 9th place, on the same level of Milan with 10 points from seven matches played so far in the season.

Paolo je cijeli svoj život živio u sjeni starijeg brata, koji je nastupio za reprezentaciju Italije 112 puta i ujedno ih vodio do naslova svjestkih prvaka. Sad nakon što je dobio svoj prvi poziv u reprezentaciju ne krije oduševljenje: "Prezadovoljan sam pozivom u talijansku reprezentaciju, pogotovo zato što mi je ova sezona sjajno krenula, a još bolje se i nastavila. Ovo je za mene nagrada, a ovaj poziv posvećujem svim navijačima Napolia. Lijepo je vidjeti svoje ime na popisu trenutno najboljih igrača Italije."

Navijači ne mogu dočekati da vide braću Cannavaro zajedno na terenu u istoj momčadi, ali morat će se još strpiti za to, jer Fabio nije pozvan zbog problema s ozlijedom, no ako Paolo ovako nastavi ipak ćemo vidjeti i taj stoperski dvojac.

Lavezzi Involved In Furious Road-Rage Incident 

Napoli striker Ezequiel Lavezzi was involved in a blazing row after a car accident and may face disciplinary action from his club after his girlfriend whipped a person with a belt.


The Argentine star was stuck in traffic in the early hours of Saturday morning in one of Napoli's most fashionable districts. Just after midnight the 22-year-old lost concentration and went into the back of a car carrying two passengers.

The two occupants then got out of their vehicle to try and resolve things and asked Lavezzi for compensation for the damages. The ex-San Lorenzo man then lost his head and reportedly starting furiously waving his hands around repeatedly.

"He seemed crazed - like the devil had got into him," said one of the occupants. "He over-reacted compared to what had just happened."

Lavezzi, who had consumed some alcohol during the night, was then joined at the scene by his girlfriend, who it seems has just as short a temper. She took off a belt from her trousers and then whipped a nearby person around the head.

Napoli director general Pier Paolo Marino is believed to be furious with what took place and is considering what action to take against Lavezzi. The South-American has made a superb start to his career in Naples and has been compared by many to the likes of Carlos Tevez and even the legendary Diego Maradona in his playing style.

Reja: Banning Fans Is A Defeat For Football

Napoli Coach Edy Reja has blasted the decision to prohibit Partenopei fans from travelling to the match with Roma on Sunday and says the club have already been punished enough.


The crowd trouble in Napoli’s 1-0 home victory over Livorno in week five led to the following week’s clash with Genoa at the Stadio San Paolo being played behind closed doors.

Napoli lost the game 2-1 and were further punished when their fans were barred from travelling to the week seven clash with Inter at San Siro, a game the Azzurri lost 2-1.

Rome’s chief of police has now ordered to close the visitors’ section at the Stadio Olimpico for this Sunday’s match between Roma and Napoli, due to safety reasons, and Reja is not at all happy.

“This is a defeat for the whole of Italian football, not just for Napoli” blasted Reja.

“The fans are the life-blood of football. We have already been punished enough and I believe now is the time for these penalties to come to an end and for us to find a solution with the supporters, without taking such drastic measures.”



Sosa And Domizzi In Napoli Training Brawl 

Argentine striker Roberto Sosa squared off with Maurizio Domizzi during a Napoli training session, with the pair facing the prospect of heavy fines today after a clear-the-air meeting...


Maurizio Domizzi and Roberto Sosa could pick up fines today after an unseemly training ground incident at Napoli.

The former, a hard-hitting defender, slid in on the highly-rated Argentine Sosa (pictured), prompting an angry reaction from the 32 year old striker.

A minor scrap ensued, the two being separated by a gaggle of teammates and technical staff, curses and oaths flying in each direction.

Sporting director Pierpaolo Marino spat afterwards, "They were like a pair of spoilt children.

"Scenes like that are shameful, and we must resolve it at a meeting on Monday."

Both tackler and tacklee can expect a hefty fine from the club at today's clear-the-air meeting, although coach Edy Reja is unlikely to wish to suspend either of his talents.

Napoli are comfortably top half in this, their return season to Serie A, with Sosa having hit three goals thus far. Domizzi, a former Sampdoria stopper, has established himself as a regular, having played six games in the league this season.
