RONALDO ANSWERS QUESTIONS FROM THE FANS


Ronaldo recently answered a few questions sent in by fans on the Corinthians Website.

How did you feel when you were called to Selecao for the first time and chosen to be the Best Player in the World for the first time?

I don’t think it is possible to compare the two but you feel really proud when you live your dreams. Playing in the Selecao was hell of a dream and becoming the Best Player in the World was a dream too.

Do you still dream of playing in the Selecao?

Of course, playing in the Selecao for your country is a great honor. It is the dream of every boy and when you finally get to play for your country the urge only increases more.

Can you see the Selecao in 2010?

It is too early to talk. I think it will depend on what I do for the Corinthians in the first semester. Dunga has several players to choose from and I need to play well if I want to be there.

Do you have a dream that you have yet to achieve?

Everybody has dreams to fufill in life. Professionally, I have gained a lot but I still have enough things to do in life, both professionally and personally.

How does it feel to have the warmth of the crowd when you’re on the field? Are the fans different in Europe?

It’s very different. The fans in Europe watch the game like they’re at a show. Here, the crowd participate throughout most the game by screaming and by pushing the team. It only takes a goal and the singing becomes even stronger.

What are the advantages and disadvantages playing in Brazil compared to Europe?

They are completely different realities. Brazil is much larger than the countries in Europe, it takes more time travelling here within, than between countries in Europe. Football in Brazil is not so organized and the lawns need improvement.

What is your best game that you have played?

There are several but if I were to choose one, maybe the end of the 2002 World Cup against Germany.

What is the hardest game you’ve played?

Hard to say, there’s several.

Best goal?

Certainly, the World Cup 2002.

Best defender you have faced?

Maldini, he was a fantastic player, who later was my partner in Milan.

Best player?

Zidane, he was a genius, an incredible friend and a great person. As a player he was very good. He was smart with a fantastic view of the game.

What is the difference with Brazilian players and other countries?

The technical quality. Brazilians learn to play mostly on the street and on bad lawns too. This makes them excellent dribblers.

Which club will you retire with?

I will finish my career with the Corinthians.

RONALDO TO MAKE THE BIGGEST EFFORT IN HIS CAREER TO GET TO THE WORLD CUP




Ronaldo was a guest on Arena SporTV this afternoon, which will be aired later on this week. During the interview, Ronaldo spoke about his desire to join the Brazilian squad in South Africa next year.
“It depends on the first half. I have to show my best performance. I’ll make a effort, perhaps the biggest in my career. I will work hard,” said Ronaldo.
Ronaldo was asked what he thought about sex before a game?
“Scientifically, it has never been proven (that sex hinders performance). This is a legend. Today, players concentrate the day before and the club puts guards in the corridors so noone can get in or out. What a shame. I’ve talked with the Mano Menezes, who likes a lot of concentration. I told him in Barcelona and the Netherlands, in home games, we did not focus. In those two years, my average (goals) was always high (laughs),” said Ronaldo.
Before Ronaldo was a big star he recalls the diffcult times as a kid trying to play for Flamengo.
“My family made a tremendous effort because we had no money. Former goalkeeper of Flamengo, Cantarelli helped co-ordinate the tryout for Flamengo. I passed the first and then came back and passed the second as well. However, my mum said that giving me food to travel to Flamengo meant missing out on food so I went to St Kitts which was closer. With the money I saved I brought a snack,” explained Ronaldo.
Ronaldo also praised Belgians Luc Nilis, whom was his first strike partner at PSV. According to the Phenomenon, the player provided him with the most assists in his career.
“In the beginning, we understood only by mime. After a year and a half, learned Dutch but then I went away and never met a Dutch to practice (laughs),” said Ronaldo.

RONALDO WILL HELP BRING RIQUELME AND ROBERTO CARLOS TO THE CORINTHIANS




Ronaldo is one the main weapons of marketing in an attempt to bring in some crucial players to the Corinthians. Two major contracts desired by the club for the centennial year are, Riquelme from Boca Juniors and Roberto Carlos from Fenerbache. In addition to the financial backing that Ronaldo provides he will also help with negotiations in persuading both players to join the club.
Roberto Carlos and Ronaldo played together at Real Madrid. During his appearance on “Arena SporTV,” Ronaldo admitted that he has been lobbying for the hiring of his friend Roberto Carlos.
“Yes, I talked with Roberto Carlos, because the Corinthians are interested. There are other clubs interested, because he is an excellent player. He plays in a position that we have had difficulties in since the departure of André Santos. It would be a great hire for the centennial year,” expressed Ronaldo.
With Riquelme, he has expressed his desire to play alongside Ronaldo. Therefore, the Argentine has agreed to start negotiations with the Corinthians. Investors of the DIS and Marketing Director, Luis Paulo Rosenberg will meet with Boca Juniors on Thursday.
It could be as soon as the end of the week, when the Corinthians will announce the signing of Roberto Carlos.
