While Ronaldo was in Madrid, he found the time to visit his old club Real Madrid. During the visit, the club surprised Benzema by arranging a meeting with his idol Ronaldo at the Santiago Bernabeu Stadium. Benzema has always spoken very highly of Ronaldo and admitted that he still watches old DVD’s of Ronaldo.

Benzema: I’ve dreamt about meeting him ever since I was 12 years old. I still can’t believe it. He is an amazing player, the best there’s ever been.

Ronaldo: This means I must have done a good job throughout my career and that important players like Benzema enjoy my football style. Friends of mine have told me he does things in a similar way to me. They say he does step-overs, that he shoots with both feet… Being able to do the latter is a plus for any striker becausde defenders don’t know what you are going to do. He is doing a great job and I’m having a lot of fun watching him play. I wish him all the best. I’ve never liked comparisons. They aren’t good. I follow him from Brazil and I can tell he is doing a great job. It is wonderful to play at this stadium and I wish him all the luck in the world.

Benzema: I don’t play like Ronaldo does and I don’t know how to do everything he is able to do. I don’t know if I’ll be able to be as successful as he was here; he won many titles. I wish I can do the same.

Ronaldo: Dont’ say anything. Just score many goals. Raul, Kaka and Cristiano will serve you many balls so that you can net many strikes to thrill everyone. Everything my eternal boss Florentino Perez does is very exciting. His passion is such that people go on the same ride with him. People are passionate for Real Madrid, but Florentino is capable of reaching out to their excitement. That’s brilliant because excitement is what moves people. I wish Real Madrid reach the Champions league final. This team has an incredible presence. If you get there I will be here, so you better do a good job!

Ronaldo staying with Corinthians in 2010




Corinthians has confirmed that Ronaldo will be with the club in 2010 and now they are already thinking about 2011.

Marketing Director, Luis Paulo Rosenberg spoke about Ronaldo during the launch of a store in the South of Sao Paulo.

“We are already talking about 2011 as we have a contract of employment with Ronaldo in 2010,” said Rosenberg.

Rosenberg is also confident that Ronaldo will be with the Corinthians forever, either as a player, leader or ambassador.

“It’s a mutual passion. Ronaldo will always stay with the Corinthians. When he no longer wants to be a player, he will be a manager, president…whatever he wants. he will always be our social arm to carry banners in favour of ecology, against social inequality or poverty,” added Rosenberg.

Ronaldo will expect a pay increase but it still unknown how much. It will all depend on the amount of sponsorship they have.

Fitness staff of Corinthians speaks about Ronaldo’s weight




The weight of Ronaldo has again become the main subject of the Corinthians. The club is worried about Ronaldo’s physical condition after he was unable to train due to a hand injury. Then after his return he experienced tendonitis in his knee which again made it difficult for his to regain his condition.

“He felt pain in his knee and so he could not develop to his full potential within the planning that we have done for him. We now need a time to rebuild. With respect to weight, we acknowledge that it really is up. This past week, he trained well and has improved his condition,” said Rádio Jovem Pan.

About the weight of Ronaldo, Valmir Cruz explained that Ronaldo has difficulty keeping in shape for his body retains too much fluid. Ronaldo has used liposuction to try to decrease the percentage of fat and other methods to combat his weight gain.

“Ronaldo is a player who has the problem of retention. There is a body fat percentage and we have to take it and not only the physical part but with some kind of completion. So we are trying to reduce this residual fat. Sometimes with fluid retention it is necessary to do a lymphatic drainage. We are talking to doctors to see if we can reduce this swelling that is visible with Ronaldo,” said Valmir.

“Our objective is to finish the year with Ronaldo and so he can start 2010 in even better shape. It is very important that he starts 2010 without any problems as this will not give us too much trouble and work throughout the year. When Ronaldo goes on holiday, he must take a little more care in his condition, that is our goal. Ronaldo is a smart player and does everything that has been combined without claim. So Ronaldo in form means we will have a great Ronaldo next year,” concluded Valmir.

- Igrači prekomjerne tjelesne težine neće moći ući u brazilsku nogometnu reprezentaciju za Svjetsko prvenstvo u Južnoafričkoj Republici – izjavio je prvi čovjek brazilskog nogometa očigledno aludirajući na Ronalda premda ga imenom nije spomenuo.

- Nogometaš koji ima deset ili 12 kilograma viška imao bi ozbiljnih problema na pripremama – dodao je.

Danas 33-godišnji napadač Corinthiansa, nekad najbolji nogometaš svijeta, vidno se udebljao tijekom dvomjesečne pauze, na koju je bio primoran zbog loma kosti u podlaktici.

- Misli li netko da igrač koji u deset dana izgubi deset kilograma može igrati ozbiljan nogomet na Svjetskom prvenstvu? Ne. Igrači koji ne budu u optimalnoj formi više neće biti pozivani u reprezentaciju.

Za brazilski dnevnik O Globo Teixeira je govorio i da će značajno postrožiti režim u kampu tijekom priprema za sve: od igrača samih, preko njihova prijatelja do novinara.

- Ova će, Dungina reprezentacija, biti uoči i tijekom SP-a najizoliranija brazilska reprezentacija u povijesti. Kada smo se pripremali za Svjetsko prvenstvo u Njemačkoj, u švicarskom smo kampu igračima dozvolili potpunu slobodu. Kasnije smo shvatili da je tamo vladao kaos. To se neće ponoviti.

- Ono što sam naučio za vrijeme predsjednikovanja jest da momčadi sastavljene od najboljih igrača samo po tom kriteriju uopće ne moraju osvojiti naslov prvaka.
