New and Improved REVOLUTION Promises Answers To Blackout Mysteries


The minds behind NBC’s Revolution took to the stage at Saturday’s PaleyFest where they declared the second half of the season to be “better than the first.”

While many fans lamented the four month lowatus that took the show off the televised radar for an extended period, showrunner Erik Kripke maintained that it gave them the chance to “re-attack” the series, believing that “creatively, it paid off.”

Kripke also affirmed that the second half of the season, which will see the show travel to new territories such as the climate-influenced Georgia Federation where Leslie Hope‘s “badass” and “steely” president awaits, will also ramp up the pace. “We didn’t move the story fast enough,” Kripke admitted. “We were treading water a little bit.”

With that in mind, the creators plan to answer the show’s current mysteries by the end of the first season. Among the questions that will be addressed/expanded: the reason behind the blackout, Miles and Monroe’s backstory, the characters’ histories, the whereabouts of Grace, what Randall wants with her and why Miles and Monroe went from best buds to mortal enemies — and more.

It sounds like Revolution will come back a different, more sure of itself animal, and those hoping for more subtlety going forward, Kripke feels you:


Whether that filters down to more pertinent areas of the otherwise promising show remains to be seen.

Season 2 Scoop: Time-Jumps & ‘Mr. President’ Revealed

Revolution showrunner Eric Kripke has revealed major story details for the upcoming second season.

Warning: the following story contains significant plot details for the Season 1 finale and the upcoming second season – continue at your own discretion.

Confirming that the new season picks up three months after Randall’s missiles hit their twin-targets, a forthcoming Kripke went on to spill more beans during a Comic-Con chat with TV Line.

Admitting that the president introduced at the end of Season 1 is far from who he appears, Kripke said:

  “Those guys in Cuba [..] they claim to be Americans, they’re using a lot of the iconography; flags and ‘God bless America,’ but they are not Americans, they’re bad dudes, they’re a vision of America is not the vision that we all want. They have some really dark stuff in store.”

“They all work for that guy Randall, and there’s a conspiracy afoot, these people are integrating into the continent and [our heroes] all need to band together and go up against this threat.”

Confirming that “Mr. President” was not elected prior to the blackout nor in any official capacity post-apocalypse, Kripke continued:

    “The guy who is calling himself the president, it’s not like that guy is the elected president. It’s not like Obama’s going to be a special guest star. The guy who’s in charge, they’re all wearing star-spangled masks, they’re not good people and are not necessarily our elected representatives.”

As for the pacing and tone of Season 2, Kripke shared:

    “The storyline this season really unfolds at a really interesting and satisfying clip, and there’s just really twists and turns and we’re just really more focused on the characters, the intimacy of who they are, with a really interesting canvass.

Season 2 Introduces Smooth-Talking Ally

Revolution‘s second-season recruitment continues in the shape of a new player who will join the team around episode 7, E! Online informs:

    This character is definitely around for the long haul. This new guy will be smooth-talking, likeable and an all-around good guy. He’ll probably rub someone the wrong way, but you don’t want to go to blows with him. The new dude will be in shape and ready and willing to throw a punch or two.
