REVIEW: DEPORTIVO 1 - GETAFE 0 (LA LIGA)

01 Nov 2005 -- Deportivo achieved their second consecutive win at home after they defeated Getafe with a narrow 1-0 score. The goal was scored by Diego Tristán in the first half. The Galicians controlled the play over the field and had enough chances to increase the difference; however, Depor had to suffer in order to maintain the lead in the last minutes of the game, specially in a shot that Pachón sent into the post.

BEFORE THE GAME As was expected Caparrós continued with the same lineup that played against Real Madrid. The only modification was the presence of Sergio in midfield replacing Scaloni; meanwhile, Riki and Guiza were selected in order to command the offensive efforts of Getafe.

FIRST HALF Deportivo started the game with the intention of taking an early lead, they controlled the ball in midfield, and suddenly Tristán and Munits had the first chance to score, but the Cantabrian winger failed to capatilise on the situation when he was in front of the keeper.
The Galicians continued to create danger and finally they found a reward for their effort. Capdevila sent a cross from the left wing that Diego Tristán headed at almost the far post. It's the fourth goal in the Sevillan striker’s tally in la liga. Depor's players continued to send crosses searching for the second goal; first it was Valerón who assisted Coloccini and later; it was Munitis who found De Guzmán in the area. In both plays the ball was sent off target.
Juan Carlos Valerón was the director of the game always creating danger against Getafe. Also the velocity and the constant exchange of positions of De Guzmán and Munitis were favourable factors for the Galicians. The reward should have arrived at the 40th minute when Diego Rivas fouled the Cantabrian winger when he was entering to the area trough the left wing. Referee Turienzo Alvarez didn't allow the penalty and the first half reached the end.

SECOND HALF The last 45 minutes started with Deportivo in command of the play, a powerful shot of Valerón and a cross made by Tristán were the main opportunities of the Galicians, but keeper Luis García saved both occasion sending the ball out for a corner.
Getafe tried to react and they started to create danger against Depor. A cross from the right was deflected by De Guzmán hitting the post. It was the first warning of the evening. The Madrilians took control of the actions and Deportivo was only waiting in order to create surprise with counterattacks.
The most dangerous situation occurred two minutes before to the end of the match, Molina became confused with Capdevila and the Valencian goalkeeper hit the Catalan defender with the ball allowing Pachón to obtain it, later he surpassed Molina, but his final shot hit the crossbar just when Coloccini was the only man defending. With no more occasions on the pitch the game ended for the relief of the public at the Riazor.

AFTER THE GAME With this victory Deportivo reaches 16 points in 10 games played. This still places Depor in mid-table, but the difference between Depor and with the leader Osasuna is only of five points; in fact, Depor is only one point away from the Champions League spots. The next liga encounter will occur on next Sunday at Málaga.

MATCH STATISTICS Deportivo: Molina - Manuel Pablo, Coloccini, Juanma, Capdevila - De Guzmán, Duscher, Scaloni (Sergio 65'), Munitis (Iván Carril 90') - Valerón, Tristán Castro (Rubén 77'). Getafe: Luis García - Pulido, Belenguer, Aníbal, Paredes - Redondo, Diego Rivas, Vivar Dorado (Cubillo 62'), Gavilán (Craioveanu 79') - Riki, Güiza (Pachón 79'). Goals: 1-0: (24') Tristán. Referee : Turienzo Alvarez. He showed yellow card to Coloccini (20'), Gavilán (m.20'), Güiza (31'), Belenguer (32'), De Guzmán (51'), Pulido (69') and Munitis (82'). Venue Riazor (18,000).

REVIEW: MALAGA 1 - DEPORTIVO 1 (LA LIGA)
07 Nov 2005 -- Yesterday Deportivo achieved the third consecutive 1-1 playing at La Rosaleda. Valerón's goal neutralised the advantage of the Andalucian club taken in a wonderful maneuver made by Nacho at the beginning of the second half. The entrance of Iván Carril was the key for the Galicians since he created the play of the goal.

BEFORE TO THE GAME As was expected Caparrós presented the same lineup that achieved the two consecutive wins over Real Madrid and Getafe. The only modification was the presence of Héctor who replaced Manuel Pablo. The Canarian defender suffered an injury during the week and he will be out of action for the next three weeks. Meanwhile, Juan Rodríguez, Arnau and Edgar surpassed their physical troubles and started in Málaga's lineup.

FIRST HALF Málaga dominated the actions since the beginning and their opportunities to score starting to arrive sooner. At the sixth minute Molina failed to clear the danger in his area when he missed to punch the ball, but nothing happened because the ball passed near to the post ending in a corner. The Valencian keeper corrected his mistake when he saved a shot made by Salva at the middle of the first half.
The Andalucian club continued to dominate the actions and César Navas was near to gaining the lead, but his headed ball ended on the left post; meanwhile, Deportivo was only defending the draw. Their only chance arrived at minute 38th with a free-kick that Munitis took. Arnau contained the ball at the end. Málaga deserved the lead for the effort made in the first half, but their lack of effectiveness was the key to end 0-0 after 45 minutes.

SECOND HALF The home side continued to dominate the actions during the beginning of the second half. Edgar sent two crosses in the first two minutes, but nobody was able to resolve the occasions; however, it was Depor who created the most clear chance to score. A cross from the right ended in the boots of Diego Tristán, the Sevillan striker sent the ball to the left post and after that the rebound ended on the right post without crossing the line of goal.
At minute 51 Málaga achieved the lead in the score taking advantage of an error between Héctor and Juanma. A long ball reached Nacho inside of the area and the two defenders were only seeing the action, the youngster touched the ball with the chest and then, he made a sensational shot when he had Héctor at his back.
Deportivo was in shock and Málaga had enough opportunities to secure the victory, but once again they failed in the last touch. Salva failed a clear chance when he headed out a cross from Edgar. Caparrós reacted and tried to change the situation, for this reason he sent Sergio and Iván Carril to replace De Guzmán and Scaloni. The modifications worked out and the draw was achieved 12 minutes later.
Iván Carril received the ball almost in midfield and he ran over the right wing; then, he sent the ball to the middle of the area, Juan Carlos Valerón who was following the action sent a shot that entered the back of the net passing near to the right post. Málaga's coach Tapia reacted sending Antonio Hidalgo and 'Chengue' Morales to the pitch, but it was too late.

AFTER THE GAME It's the third consecutive draw that Deportivo achieves in La Rosaleda stadium. Now, the Galicians accumulates 17 points in the table occupying the seventh position. For the moment the Champions League spots are 3 points away. Meanwhile, Málaga has only won one game at home this season and accumulates 12 points so far. At the same time Duscher saw the fifth yellow card of the season meaning that he will be suspended for the next game against Racing (November 20).

MATCH STATISTICS Málaga: Arnau - Alexis, César Navas, Fernando Sanz, Valcarce (Pina 83') - Edgar, Gerardo, Juan Rodríguez, Nacho - Salva (Antonio Hidalgo 75'), Pablo Couñago ('Chengue' Morales 75'). Deportivo: Molina - Héctor, Coloccini, Juanma, Capdevila - De Guzmán (Sergio 62'), Scaloni (Iván Carril 62'), Duscher, Munitis - Valerón, Diego Tristán (César 87'). Goals: 1-0: (51') Nacho, 1-1: (75') Valerón. Referee: Julián Rodríguez Santiago. He showed yellow card to Scaloni (34'), Héctor (71') and Duscher (78'). Venue: La Rosaleda (22,000).

THE RETURN OF SCALONI TO ARGENTINA?

15 Nov 2005 -- Newspaper La Opinión published an article relating the words of Ángel Scaloni (Lionel's father and agent) to the paper El Día. Apparently the intentions of Depor's captain is to return to his country in order to play with the team of his heart: Estudiantes De La Plata.
Lionel Scaloni returns home. With these words El Día (a newspaper from the region of La Plata) started one of the articles of last week. The return home means a comeback of Scaloni to Estudiantes, the club that the captain of Deportivo left in 1997 in order to travel to Spain.

Ángel Scaloni explained that he refused an offer of Deportivo in order to renovate the contract of his son until June of 2009: "I say no because he has had too many years in Europe and his cycle is over." The father of Lionel also explained the affect that his family feels for Estudiantes: "They opened their doors after the conflict that my family had with Newell's. I have a daughter and she is a great fan and really has Estudiantes in the blood."

Lionel Scaloni said during the summer that he wanted to leave Deportivo after having been out of lineups during Caparrós' first matches, Liverpool and AS Monaco were mentioned as possible destinies, but the situation has changed lately. The Captain of Depor started to appear more often and in the last three matches he has been a regular starter; then, the rumours disappeared.

The Argentinean player returned to the headlines during the last few days when he criticized the procedure of the Galician club, he said that Depor's officials are taking the wrong approach with the discussions relating to contract renovations with the players ending their current contracts. Now, it seems that his future is Estudiantes, a fact that he and his father have to study as Ángel Scaloni said to El Día: "I have to see what I can get in La Coruña. I will talk with Lionel and then we will see; however, he wants to play in Estudiantes. There's no doubt about it."

WHO IS IKECHUKWU UCHE?

15 Nov 2005 -- Rumours come and rumours go, but the truth is that Ikechukwu Uche continues to appear in the Spanish papers as the main target of Deportivo in order to reinforce the attacking zone. A lot has been said about this 20-year-old Nigerian striker, but who is he? deportivo-la-coruna.com tries to answer the question.
Ikechukwu Uche was born in Aba (Nigeria) on January 5th, 1984. He's the younger brother of Kalu Uche, a midfielder that made his career during the past years playing for Espanyol, Bordeaux and mainly in Wisla Krakow. Ikechukwu started his football career in 1999 when he signed for Amanze United and later he played with Iwuanyanwu Nationale in 2000.

In 2001 he attended the training sessions of Nigeria's U-17 team in order to prepare the participation in the World Cup that took place in Trinidad & Tobago, but he wasn't chosen for the final squad. However, his performance called the attention of Spanish clubs and he was signed by Racing Ferrol, the deal involved a brief dispute because of monetary terms and had to be settled by FIFA.
About his characteristics maybe one of the clearest descriptions was made by nigerianplayers.com, a website that maintains weekly updates of the performances made by Nigerian players in Europe: "Good mobile forward with excellent vision, who can play on the right or left wing. Also has great ball control skills and can use both feet effectively" is the comment that appears on his webpage. He's also known for his acrobatic celebrations when he scores a goal.

Uche played only four games during his first season with Racing Ferrol, but in the 2002/03 campaign he participated in 24 games scoring two goals, apparently Deportivo noticed his performance then, but it was Recreativo Huelva who made a move for him. The transfer was valued at €250,000. An operation in which Albacete was previously denied.
It was in Recreativo where Uche found the stability that he was needing, and during the seasons 2003/04 and 2004/05 the Nigerian striker played 72 matches and scored 21 goals helping his squad to secure a place in Segunda. During the past summer the player was named as a possible reinforcement for Depor, even a €4 million offer was negotiated with Recreativo, but the method of payment didn't satisfy the aspirations of the Andalucian club and the deal was discarded. Instead president Francisco Mendoza affirmed that the only solution would be the payment of his buy out clause (€16 million).

The Nigerian player was so deluded with his possible transfer that when the deal was cancelled he entered into a depressed state. Recreativo decided to give him some rest and Uche missed the first matches of the season, but the forward returned just to score nine goals in nine matches converting him into the pichichi of Segunda and helping Recreativo to reach a promotion spot.

Lately other clubs like Real Betis and Portsmouth showed their interest in the player, but all the fingers continues to point to Deportivo. Apparently Lendoiro is preparing a second offer that could reach the €6 million mark. One of the keys in the operation is the fact that Recreativo only posses 60% of the rights to the player, the rest belonging to a financial group called Prisma Group. Rumours say that Lendoiro has an agreement with Prisma and with the player himself; the only point missing is a deal with Recreativo de Huelva.

Precisely the approval of Recreativo is the main difficulty for Lendoiro. It's not probable that the Andalucian club will agree to sell their main striker just when the squad is near to fulfil their third ascend into Primera. Besides the €6 million offer could be not enough for their president Francisco Mendoza; after all, they will only get the 60% of it. As he declared recently: "Uche is a key man for our team and his exit would only be possible for a big money offer."
It is possible that Deportivo will try to sign Uche during the winter window, but a transfer during next summer’s window is also wished. For the moment the Nigerian striker wants to be out of the polemic and he refuses to declare more details about his situation, as he said recently to the Spanish media: "I don't know if Deportivo will try to sign me once again. I can only just help my team in order to do the things in the right way. Later what has to come will come."

REVIEW: RACING 0 - DEPORTIVO 3 (LA LIGA)

21 Nov 2005 -- Deportivo achieved an important victory at El Sardinero. The Galicians weren't too much superior to the Cantabrians, but Caparrós' squad knew how to take advantage of their opportunities. Taborda scored his first goal of the season in a match that also represented the debut of Víctor in la liga after being injured for a while.

BEFORE TO THE GAME As was expected Caparrós decided to start the game with the couple Andrade-Juanma in the defensive central positions; also, Scaloni replaced Duscher who was paying a suspension for accumulating five yellow cards. De Guzmán and Munitis were the options selected to perform in the wings. Meanwhile, Racing's coach Manolo Preciado sent the duo Antoñito-Aganzo in order to conquer the goals.

FIRST HALF Deportivo started the match controlling the actions and creating the first chances to score. Munitis with a shot from long distance and Diego Tristán generated the first opportunities for the Galicians. It was just a warning since the Sevillan striker participated in the first goal of the game. Capdevila sent a cross from the left wing and the ball rebounded between Tristán and Neru just to enter into the net.
The Galician squad disappeared after their goal and Racing took control of the match. Melo generated two chances to score, but Juanma was there to stop him. The ex-Racing defender was playing his first game at El Sardinero after expending five years with the Cantabrian squad.
Later it was Antoñito who was creating troubles to Deportivo, but once again Juanma cleared the danger. This time the public in the stadium protested a possible penalty against Antoñito, but the referee didn't allow it. The last chance for Racing arrived with a mortal cross made by Pinillos, but nobody was in the area to push it into the net. The Galicians were lucky to end the first 45 minutes with a clean sheet.

SECOND HALF It seemed that the match would continue in the same way, Capdevila saw a yellow card for a challenge against Antoñito, but for Deportivo the shadows disappeared with the arrival of the second goal. Munitis took a free-kick that Moratón couldn't clear properly, Juan Carlos Valerón deflected the ball with the head and later it rebounded off the keeper Aouate just to enter the net.
Deportivo was showing a lesson of effectiveness after taking the lead with the two opportunities that they had in the game. Preciado tried the change the direction of the actions introducing Juanjo and Wilfred Dalmat in the places of Vitolo and David Aganzo; however, the second goal affected the performance of the Cantabrian squad and Deportivo was more confident on the pitch.
Munitis and Capdevila were making a strong connection in the left wing, a combination made by both players ended in a corner that the Cantabrian winger took. Finally Moratón cleared the danger. Suddenly Caparrós decided to introduce Sebastián Taborda into the game. The Uruguayan striker replaced Tristán and immediately he scored the third goal after heading an assistance made by Héctor on the right wing.
With the victory in the pocket Caparrós sent Víctor to the pitch. The Madrilian winger was debuting in this liga season after suffering from a complicated injury. He replaced Munitis who received the applause from the public. Finally, the Sevillan coach gave some minutes to Coloccini who entered for De Guzmán.

AFTER THE GAME With this victory Deportivo accumulates 20 points occupying the sixth position in the table. Meanwhile Racing is in the relation zone with 11 points. The next match for Depor will be at Riazor against Villarreal. It will be an important match since both sides are tied with the same amount of points.

MATCH STATISTICS Racing: Aouate - Pinillos, Neru, Moratón, Ayoze (Serrano 64') - Vitolo (Juanjo 58'), Tomás, Dalmat, Melo - Antoñito, Aganzo (Wilfred Dalmat 58'). Deportivo: Molina - Héctor, Andrade, Juanma, Capdevila - Munitis (Víctor 77'), Scaloni, Sergio, De Guzmán (Coloccini 80') - Valerón, Tristán (Taborda 70'). Goals: 0-1: (16') Tristán, 0-2: (51') Valerón, 0-3: (71') Taborda. Referee: Pérez Lasa. He showed yellow card to Capdevila (48') and Felipe (63') Venue: El Sardinero (12,754).

REVIEW: SEVILLA 0 - DEPORTIVO 2 (LA LIGA)

05 Dec 2005 -- Joaquín Caparrós returned to Sevilla and his team achieved an important victory against his former squad. Tristán and Víctor scored the goals, but the main protagonist was the referee Megía Dávila with several polemic decisions and a personal festival of 14 yellow cards.

BEFORE TO THE MATCH Víctor returned to the lineup replacing Julián de Guzmán and Sergio did the same occupying the position of Scaloni, both changes were announced by Caparrós during the last training session, but Taborda started on the bench. This meant that the Utrera-born coach gave another opportunity to Tristán, the Sevillan forward has been critisided lately for his performance and supposedly he would be replaced. Meanwhile, Kanoute and Saviola were the chosen duo in order to direct Sevilla's offensive efforts. The ovation that Caparrós received before the game was an incredible reception for Sevilla's former trainer.

FIRST HALF Both teams started with the intention of controlling the ball, but it was Deportivo who dominated the actions in the first minutes, Juan Carlos Valerón directed his team and Sevilla couldn't find a way to stop the Galicians. The Canarian playmaker had two clear occasions to score, in the first he received a pass from Munitis, but he preferred to search for Tristán instead of making a direct shot on goal, the ball was too high and ended out of play. The second chance was a cross from the left wing that found Valerón who headed from penalty spot passing just inches away from the right post.
Sevilla reacted and soon they started to find spaces in midfield, and that's when the work of Francisco Molina appeared. The Valencian keeper made two saves that were important for his team, the most crucial was a shot from outside of the area made by Kanoute that deflected off a defender, just when the goal seemed near, Molina reacted well deflecting the ball out for a corner-kick.
Despite the good game showed by both teams the protagonist was the referee Megía Dávila, he showed 10 yellow cards just in the first 45 minutes, some of these were unnecessary. The most polemic play of the game occurred at minute 23rd when Daniel Alvés fouled Capdevila in the right corner of Sevilla's area, there was contact but the local players protested the decision.
Diego Tristán took the penalty, but Palop stopped the ball throwing himself to the right; however, Megía Dávila ordered the retake of the penalty since one Sevillan defender entered the area before Tristán's shot. The second penalty was scored by Tristán, this time he saw Palop diving to his left and drilled the ball low down to the right post.
The Sevillan players were angry with the retake awarded by Megía Dávila and they started to protest after Tristán goal. As result Enzo Maresca was sent off. The red card clearly affected the morale and the game of the home side; after all, the Italian midfielder is the top scorer for his team and was one of the best players during the first minutes.
Knowing the advantage Deportivo started to pass the ball and waiting for the appearance of empty spaces, however Sevilla didn't give up and they always tried to search for the equaliser. But it was Deportivo who increased the lead. The goal arrived through a free-kick on the right wing. Munitis made a small touch to Víctor who started to run into Sevilla's area, later he made an impressive shot that entered in the right corner defeating Palop. The first half ended with the desperation of Sevilla trying to reduce the difference.

SECOND HALF The level of the game decreased during the last 45 minutes, Deportivo was very intelligent and again they dedicated their time to pass the ball and wait for empty spaces. Sevilla instead began searching for long balls and the aerial game, with that mission in mind Kepa entered the game replacing Saviola. Caparrós reacted sending Taborda in for Tristán trying to find fresh legs up front. Romero also entered to the pitch in a strange modification for Víctor. The defender had to play as winger during half and hour.
The impotence of Sevilla was evident and maybe the most desperate man was Daniel Alvés. He protested any decision made against his team and finally received a red card for a late challenge against Munitis. With 9 men on the pitch the home side had more difficulties in order to search for their goals. Deportivo was just passing the ball and trying to take advantage of the counterattacks, they could have increase the lead but Scaloni and Sergio failed to score in the clear occasions they had.
The best opportunity for the Galicians was a new penalty, this time Munitis ran over toward the right wing and he was pushed inside of the area. With Tristán out Taborda took the opportunity, but Palop saved the penalty. The game ended with Sevilla trying to reduce the difference, but the duo of Andrade-Juanma was very solid all over the night.

AFTER THE GAME With this victory Deportivo have now 23 points occupying the seventh spot. They are tied with Sevilla and Villarreal just two points away from the Champions League positions. The next game for Depor will be on next Sunday against Cádiz at Riazor.

MATCH STATISTICS Sevilla: Palop - Daniel Alvés, Aitor Ocio, Dragutinovic, David Castedo (Jordi López 46') - Jesús Navas, Martí, Maresca, Adriano (Pablo Ruiz 73') - Kanoute, Saviola (Kepa 59'). Deportivo: Molina - Manuel Pablo, Andrade, Juanma (Scaloni 74'), Capdevilla - Víctor (Romero 64'), Sergio, Duscher, Munitis - Valerón, Tristán (Taborda 58'). Goals: 0-1: (25') Tristán form the penalty spot, 0-2: (41') Víctor. Referee: Carlos Mejía Dávila. He showed yellow cards to Munitis (3'), Sergio (6'), Duscher (21'), Tristán (33'), Dragutinovic (24'), Adriano (28'), David Castedo (31'), Manuel Pablo (42'), Kanouté (45+2'), Jesús Navas (73'), Scaloni (74') and Aitor Ocio (78'). Maresca (26') and Daniel Alves (68') were sent off. Venue: Ramón Sánchez Pizjuán (40,000).

DEPORTIVO WILL FACE OSASUNA IN THE COPA DEL REY

07 Dec 2005 -- The draw for the fifth round of the Copa del Rey was made yesterday in Madrid. Deportivo will face Osasuna in a two-leg eliminatory. The first game will be on January 4th at the Riazor and the second one will be on January 11th at the El Sadar stadium.

Deportivo didn't participate in the first four rounds of the Copa del Rey since the Galicians were playing in the Intertoto Cup, and the new rules of the tournament indicate that the nine clubs that ended the last season in European positions (Barcelona, Real Madrid, Villarreal, Betis, Sevilla, Espanyol, Valencia, Deportivo and Athletic Bilbao) are exempt from those rounds.

Coach Joaquín Caparrós confirmed that he will not make any rotations for the La Liga and Copa tournaments: "We will play La Liga at 100% on the weekends and then on Wednesday we will face the Copa with the same squad. I will only make rotations if I see that some players haven’t recuperated physically. We will not create two teams."
Meanwhile, Osasuna's coach, Javier Aguirre believes that this eliminatory will be tough for both sides: "It's a complicated series and I believe that our chances are 50-50. Maybe the fact that we will play the second game at home will force us to visit the Riazor with the intention of achieving a positive result." The Mexican trainer announced that he will use rotations during the competition: "As I said before, there will be eleven different players in the Copa games."

REVIEW: DEPORTIVO 1 - 0 CADIZ (LA LIGA)

11 Dec 2005 -- Deportivo inflicted a narrow defeat on Cadiz to return to the first six places of the Liga. Caparros' men managed to control the match against a rival that was concentrating on defense, but still didn't shine at the Riazor.

BEFORE THE MATCH There were few dilemmas for Caparros before this match, with almost the full squad at his disposal. Still, the Utreran coach had to decide on the second striker to accompany Valeron, and again it was Tristan who made the starting lineup. So an identical squad to the one that faced Sevilla entered the pitch in front of a crowd that was evidently dipleased by the choice.

THE FIRST HALF As expected, Cadiz had one thing in mind from the beginning, and that was to defend. Still the Andalusians had the first opportunities of the match, when De La Cuesta tested Molina with a weak finish and Oli tried a long range shot. But the lack of attacking strength that plagued Cadiz this season was becoming obvious, and little by little Deportivo took control of the game. Still, the Galicians found it difficult to create chances against a defending rival, a recurring situation under Caparros. The most danger in the first half came from Sergio, who also tried his luck with long range shots.
Tristan was again invisible, the striker's lack of instinct and form showed in the first half and the public taunted him at every opportunity. It was again Munitis who drove his team's offensive and one of his crosses surprised Armando who could only push it out into a corner. But these efforts were not enough to break a firm deadlock in the first 45 minutes of the match. Meanwhile Víctor Espárrago lost two of his players to injury before the break, and Paz came in for De La Cuesta and Sesma replaced Ivan Ania.

THE SECOND HALF Caparros didn't change anything at the break, although some had expected to see Taborda coming from the lockers instead of Tristan. But only five minutes after the start of the second half, Tristan rewarded his coach by converting Valeron's assist with a tremendous finish making it 1-0. Cadiz reacted almost immediately, but Oli couldn't defeat Molina after a great action by Enrique.
Moments later, Victor, who was playing only his second match after a long period of injury, had to leave the pitch again for medical reasons and he was replaced by Ivan Carril. Taborda replaced Tristan while Cadiz' coach Espárrago also made a last substitute to enforce his attack, but Depor held on to the victory brought by their most controversial player right now, Diego Tristan.

AFTER THE MATCH After this important victory, Depor go up to the fifth spot, but have the same amount of points as Villareal, Valencia and Celta. This fact will make the upcoming Galician derby between Celta and Deportivo even more important, although this season Deportivo has not managed to defeat any direct rival, after drawing against Valencia and losing against Villareal.

Selta - Depor 0:3 (0:3)

Strelci Tristan (p), Valeron i Kapdevilja. Da nije Tristan promasio jos jedan penal moglo bi jos gore po Seltu da bude.
