Cinemax knows you're still hurting after last week's insane episode of its action-packed drama Banshee, and would like to make amends by sharing some (mostly) good news. The series has been renewed for an eight-episode fourth season to air in 2016, the network announced Thursday.
That's a slightly shorter order than we're used to; Seasons 1, 2, and 3 (the latter of which is currently airing) have each had 10 installments to tell Banshee's increasingly bloody and violent story. However, the reduced episode count may be a side effect of an upcoming change in the show's production location, as it will relocate from from North Carolina to Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania prior to shooting Season 4. And hey, two episodes is an acceptable loss if it means the show will go on, right?
Banshee stars Antony Starr as Lucas Hood, an ex-con who's assumed the identity of the deceased sheriff of Banshee, Pennsylvania, where he walks the line between being a criminal and a cop. His special brand of justice, which typically involves a lot of flying fists, tends to raise a lot of eyebrows and attract unwanted attention, which frequently puts his long con in jeopardy.
Cinemax has not yet confirmed which Banshee cast members will return for Season 4, and will likely stay mum until after the Season 3 finale, considering there are still five episodes left in which characters might die. Given what happened in "Tribal," now might be a good time to form a prayer circle for your favorites.
