PointUI 2 Free version now released



After a very long wait, which made some people believe the software was vaporware even, PointUI 2 has now finally been released.

The software features the same fantastic graphics and fluid scrolling as seen in their previous version, but seems to be less of a departure from what we have seen on Windows Mobile before, for example the start menu is still available.

We hope to have a quick video overview of the software in action soon. In the mean time why now try it out for yourself by downloading the app from PointUI now.

Another Great UI Replacement: SpB Mobile Shell 3.0

Google releases Google App for Windows Mobile

Google has finally released a version of Google Mobile App for Windows Mobile.  The software gives you faster searching on your Windows Mobile device, with easy access to your favourite Google applications from the Today screen.

The application allows web, email and Google maps searches amongst others and speeds up access to services up to 50%.

Google Mobile App is available for all devices running Windows Mobile in the US, UK, Canada, France, Italy, Spain, and Germany.

Most standards-compliant mobile browser now available for download



We ran a story a short while ago about the latest version of Torch Mobile’s Iris browser achieving an amazing 97/100 on the Acid 3 test, when most browsers struggle to reach the 70’s.

Version 1.1, the one in the YouTube vide below, was then unreleased, but Torch Mobile has now made it available for download. Readers can now run the Acid 3 test for themselves, and also see the benefits of this standards-compliance – Google Docs documents can now be edited directly from within the browser.

The Keyboard SIP Alternative for WVGA Devices



Advertised as providing "the best typing experience ever", FingerKeyboard2 is an XDA Developers release, a custom Soft Input Panel mainly for WVGA and WQVGA devices. Read on for a list of features, supported languages and installation information.

Unfortunately, VGA support for FingerKeyboard2 is limited to containing only English, Polish and a numeric pad. Nevertheless, if you own a VGA device and would like to give FingerKeyboard2 a try, install it as usual, then install the cab file found here.

SBSH Calendar Touch 2.1 promises to be pretty cool

Windows Mobile has plenty of PIM software, but very few of them are really optimised for the finger revolution.  SBSH Calendar Touch 2.1 aims to address this issue head-on, with software specifically designed to be finger-friendly.

WIFI Monster – Finger-friendly WIFI management software



WIFI Monster is an application that makes it a little bit easier to manage multiple WIFI connections.

The software is a work in progress and some features still need to implemented, but at present it supports the following:
