6th Planet




6th Planet tells the story of a near future, where the planet Saturn suddenly changes into a possible place for humans to live. To find out what is going on, a monkey is sent into space. This is the beginning of a series of events that will determine mankind’s future.

The goal of the game is to guide your space pod to the landing site on the other side of the level. With only two buttons to work with, it is a simple concept that’s easy to pick up, but hard to master. The Story Mode contains 50 levels, divided across 7 worlds. This stands for at least four hours of gameplay. If you succeed in finishing this mode, you unlock the Master levels, which is a collection of very challenging levels for you to try out. This mode will be updated in the future with more content.

The comic story, in between the levels, consists of a total of 188 screens, which is two comic books worth of images. The story is co-written and drawn by the studio that’s responsible for the Oscar nominated animation films The Triplets of Belleville and The Secret of Kells. Screens are colored by Raymund Lee, famous for his work on Marvel’s Wolverine series.

Tiny Wings is a new Angry Birds? Tops the UK App Store chart



Even if you’ve been living under a rock for the whole year, you probably know what Angry Birds is all about. The super-addictive iPhone game has topped various mobile app store charts around the globe. Thus far no game came even close to Rovio’s baby success, but that could change soon.

Enter Tiny Wings, a new casual bird-flinger game that has quietly hit the AppStore last week and has since got a big attention on Twitter with some folks even calling it “the next Angry Birds.” Developed and published by Andreas Illinger, it currently has five-star rating on iTunes and that’s from 1482 people! Moreover, as of Thursday, February 24th, Tiny Wings is holding the prime spot on the “Top Downloaded” and second spot on the “Top Grossing” list in the AppStore UK. Impressive, don’t you think?

Twitter for iPhone, iPad gets major update



Twitter just pushed out a major update for its iOS application, which is a universal app compatible with the iPhone, iPad and iPod touch. Twitter 3.3 adds a variety of functionality, the most obvious and painful of which is the new “Quick Bar” that dangles ads and Bieber-ish Twitter trends atop the main timeline. It’s very unique and remarkably annoying. Twitter lists other changes as follows:

    * Photos. Uploading photos is now easier than ever. There’s a camera button in the toolbar and we improved the image preview, so you can quickly choose a photo from your library or take a new picture.
    * Follow your friends. Now you can find which of your friends are on Twitter that have chosen to be discoverable through the contacts on your phone.
    * Local trends. See trends based on your location.
    * Shorten links. When you want to share a link on Twitter, just paste it into the Tweet box and we’ll automatically shorten it.
    * Tweet box design. We redesigned the “New Tweet” screen so it’s now cleaner and simpler.
