Next Nokia C7-00 leak confirms name and specs (720p video, too)

So that was  the Nokia C7-00 after all. It took half a dozen of leaks but the identity of the leaked Nokia prototype is finally confirmed. And what's even better, most of its specs got confirmed too so we know what to expect.

Nokia C7-00 will run on the latest Symbian^3 operating system and, as previously rumored, will pack an 8 megapixel autofocus camera. Its capacitive touchscreen will stretch over 3.3 inches and will feature the usual for Symbian handsets nHD resolution. There is also support for multi-touch gestures mentioned.



The leaked Nokia C7-00 ad also confirms a microUSB port, a 3.5mm audio jack and 720p video recording. 3G radio and microSD card slot for memory expansion are also present inside the slim 11mm body of the handset. It all adds up to a trimmed-down version of the Nokia N8, which should provide a nice Symbian^3 alternative to the mass-market.

With the press materials all ready to go, we suspect that the Nokia C7-00 announcement can't be far away now. Its release will probably come after N8 hits the shelves so Q4 sounds like a realistic release schedule.

Nokia launches dual SIM phones C1-00 and C2 in India



Nokia is launching its first phones with dual SIM capability, C1-00 and C2, in India. The news doesn’t come as a surprise as both devices are low-end and should sell like hot cupcakes in the ever growing mobile phone market of the world’s second most populous country.

The first of the two, Nokia C1-01 will retail for 1,999 INR, which is about $42. Although it rocks two SIM card slots, only one of them will work at a time. However, switching between networks is as easy as holding down a key.

On the other hand, Nokia C2 — which costs 2,500 INR (about $54) — allows two SIM cards (presumably both SIM slots are used) to work at the same time. It’s also a better device, rocking a Series 40 UI, GPRS data, Nokia Life Tools pre-installed, stereo FM radio with recording, VGA camera and a microSD memory card slot.

No words on when (or whether) these two will ever hit the western hemisphere. I know many people who dislike smartphones but would appreciate the dual SIM capability…

According to the Finish newspaper Kauppalehti, Tapani Kaskinen (Nokias Senior Comms Manager) said today that the Nokia N8 will launch in September 30.

Sporting a 3.2-inch AMOLED display with full touch capabilities and Nokia ClearBlack technology for improved outdoor visibility, the latest Nokia C6 (C6-01) features the best of social networking and mobile entertainment in a stainless steel and glass design. Stay connected to email, access millions of tracks through Ovi Music, and download apps and games from the Ovi Store. Estimated retail price is EUR 260, excluding taxes and subsidies.
