Nokia posts new Nokia N97 video walkthrough

Fans of the slide-and-tilt Nokia N97 will be happy to hear that Nokia (NYSE: NOK) has posted a new video walk-through that shows off some new N97 screens and transitions.

The video presents a convincingly intuitive and sleek touch-based UI, which Nokia suggests helps make the Nokia N97 the “ultimate internet device.” Having had a little time to actually put hands on the Nokia N97, we’re going to go ahead and give Nokia its due.

Nokia E75 konačno u prodaji

Mesecima unazad smo "na kašičicu" dobijali informacije, mutne slike i gomilu nagađanja... Napokon, Nokia je objavila da kreće sa prodajom mobilnog telefona E75.

Ovaj slajder kada se otvori prikazuje potpuno QWERTY tastaturu, a sadrži korisnički interfejs koji dolazi iz Nokie. Interfejs poseduje i podršku za Microsoft Exchange, a tu su i N-Gage igračke funkcije.

Ostale specifikacije uključuju kameru od 3.2 megapiksela, podršku za GPS, WiFi, Bluetooth i FM radio. Kada je mrežna podrška u pitanju, Nokia E75 poseduje quadband GSM i dualband (900/2100) HSDPA.

Sve funkcije koje se obavljaju pregledne su na displeju veličine 2,4 inča, koji pruža sliku u rezoluciji od 240 x 320 piksela. Od usluga prisutne su Ovi Files i Nokia Maps.

Dual-slide Nokia 8208 approved by FCC

When Nokia officially announced the CDMA 8208, it said the handset would not be destined for the US market, but for countries like China and India. 

However, the FCC has just approved the 8208, as Nokia RM-384.

And while this doesn’t mean a North American release will follow, at least we know that, if Nokia changed its mind regarding the phone’s launch, a US CDMA carrier could start selling in the near future.

As you probably already know, Nokia 8208 has a dual-slide design that reminds us of the Nseries smartphones.

Telecom Italia (TIM) Reveals Nokia N97 Price Tag!



I am pretty sure that most of you will agree with me that Nokia N97 is expected to be one of the most desirable consumer electronics products on the planet this year.

Not only because of the impressive list of features and the touch user interface but also due its eye-catching tilt-slide-out form factor which allows instant switch from a full touchscreen phone to mini laptop with a full QWERTY keyboard.

However, in the current economic climate everyone is taking a closer look at the costs and benefits of technology and affordable price is something that Nokia will definitely need to explode sale and stun the competition.

At the official launch at Nokia World in Barcelona last year in December Nokia has promised a price of 550 Euros but this price is without taxes and subsidies and the main question during the last couple of weeks is what will be the final price as it mainly depends on Nokia's local distributors, taxes, operators' commercial strategy and subsidies!?

Anyway, my friends from Symbian Planet blog reports that phone is now listed on Telecom Italia web site for about 599 Euros which is not that bad price for SIM free phone at all! Unfortunately there is no word about availability but at least now we know it will relatively affordable although not as cheap as Samsung's Omnia HD which is expectable to be available for just 500 euros in Italy!

Nokia N97 Seriously Dragged Down
By Disappointing Hardware Components!

OK folks, the dream is over unfortunately, Nokia N97, a phone that is expected to be one of the most desirable devices on the planet this year is seriously dragged down by a disappointing processor and other hardware components for the price!

It has been a mystery since the very beginning, a very serious issue, so serious that even conversation about the hardware was forbidden outside of Nokia circles, it was untouchable subject waiting to explode if it is touched so much and now we now why!

At a time when the competitive products from the corresponding category and price tag are able to offer at least twice better processor with a dedicated GPU, the Nokia’s choice of a humble and outdated single ARM processor design and the insufficient 128 MB of RAM looks like a serious miscalculation if you ask me and I must say that I am very, very disappointed with Nokia's hardware choice.



Single ARM11 CPU with a clock speed at 434 MHz it certainly isn’t a top performer and it is just a slightly faster than the 5800's 369 MHz. It is the same processor used in the recently announced Nokia N86 and I just can’t believe that such a powerful multimedia device isn’t powered with at least 600 MHz ARM’s processor and 256 MB of RAM as the latest mid-range Express Music devices!? WTF!?

Of course, it is still one of the best equipped phones out there as it offers some decent components elsewhere. Great forma factor with tilt-slide-out QWERTY keyboard and whooping 32 GB of the build in memory expandable through the MicroSD slot, not to mention its quite pleasing high resolution touch sensitive display, OMG, what a great potential and what a terrible realization!

Nokia N97 is indeed looks pretty fast with some nice transitions mainly due the code optimization but the trick is to optimize the software to run smooth on the best hardware and optimizing software to be useable on low-end hardware is similarly disappointing!

Just as a reference, Samsun's OmniaHD is the first S60 touch device built on a TI's OMAP3 chipset. Great PowerVR SGX 2D/3D GPU from Imagination Technology incorporated into even greater Texas Instrument’s OMAP 3430 together with the fully programmable VGP vertex processor core, FPU and Superscalar 800 MHz ARM Cortex-A8 RISC core! The expected price in Italy will be around 500€, which means that this powerful Samsung's device will be cheaper for at least 100€!!
