Rumored HTC Desire HD specs surface: 4.3-inch screen, 8-megapixel camera



We didn't have a ton of details on the so-called HTC Ace when it turned up in a leaked roadmap last week, but a fresh set of rumors are now suggesting that the Ace is actually the Desire HD, which will reportedly pack a number of HD-esque upgrades over the standard Desire. That includes a larger 4.3-inch WVGA screen -- no word if it's AMOLED  or SLCD  -- and an 8-megapixel camera with 720p video recording. Other rumored details include Android 2.2, 4GB of internal storage, the same 1GHz Snapdragon as the current Desire and, perhaps most interestingly, talk of a "unibody aluminum design." Unfortunately, the rumors still don't include any actual images of the device, but there's still plenty of time for those to leak out before the supposed October release.

Motorola Droid X shipping with serious display defects?

    "I bought this Droid X this morning. I’ve had it all of about 11 hours, when this began. It appears to be a problem with just the screen or graphics subsytem. Interacting with the device seems bring up the expected screens and apps.

    Remediation Attempts: I’ve tried a hard reboot, removing the battery, killing apps and widgets, turned off bluetooth/wifi/geoloc/etc, changing the wallpapers to no effect.

    Sleeping the phone by pressing the top button, and letting it sit for a few minutes seems to quell the issue for a couple minutes. Once it’s turned back on, the screen begins to flicker again, and eventually you get the nasty lines back. I will take it to back to verizon tomorrow.

    And for the record, it hasn’t been dropped or abused. It’s been in the protected silicone sleeve that I bought with it since this morning. I also got the leather belt clip, it’s been sitting in both."


Hmm doesnt look good at all, i know of at least 4 other Droid X users that has the same problem. If you are experiencing the same problem, go back to the store and they will most likely give you a new one (within 3 days).

               Confirmed: Samsung Galaxy S Pro Will Be Sprint’s Second 4G Phone [Leaked Photos and Logo On The Back Confirm Galaxy S Pro Is Coming To The US' First 4G Network]


So regular TFTS readers will note that we’re (or at least myself) are a bit crazy for the Samsung Galaxy S – a hot Android phone with a big OLED screen and fast processor. A “Pro” variant with a keyboard had been rumored for sometime, but now we’ve seen it in pictures (below). On the day it’s also first pictured to the public, it’s also confirmed to be coming to Sprint’s 4G network, thanks to a picture on the back.



Android Community posted a picture of the Samsung Galaxy S Pro, before it was promptly taken down. Whether this means it was real or not, we’ll let you decide, but it’s entirely possible that Samsung/Sprint sent them a cease & desist order (in which case, it’s real).

While Sprint nor Samsung have said anything, a shot of the back of the device clearly shows the “Sprint 4G” network logo. This pretty much (with 99.9% certainty) confirms that the device is indeed heading to Sprint’s WiMAX network. Shots of the back show the phone will also have a 5-megapixel camera, but we knew that already from the regular Galaxy S.

The source who spoke to Android Central went on to report that both the keyboard-less “plain” Galaxy S and the slider Galaxy S Pro models will be coming to Sprint.

When will these phones be unveiled by Sprint and Samsung? Remember, Samsung’s got that gala event planned in New York City on June 29th where they’ll undoubtedly unveil the Samsung Galaxy S to the American public.

Sprint customers? Don’t want the EVO 4G and it’s alleged screen issues? Or, want a keyboard for your Android phone? Looks like Sprint could be a challenger to Verizon in terms of their Android offerings.

Droid 2 leaks continue, entire user guide finds its way online



Seriously, the Droid 2 might just be the worst-kept secret in the mobile industry at this point. Add this onto the pile of leaks we have already seen, but now Droid-Life seems to have gotten their hands on a full copy of the phone's user guide. They have gone ahead and posted the entire thing for your viewing pleasure as a PDF.

Some notable finds:

    * Will launch with Froyo (which of course everybody's known for a while).
    * Is running the same its-not-blur-but-kinda-is skin that is on the Droid X (PhilBlur!)
    * Comes with Swype pre-loaded.

Motorola Milestone XT720: Unboxing and Hands-on



Matt unboxes the new Motorola Milestone XT720 in this video and then takes a look at the operating system, demo’s some features. The Motorola MILESTONE XT720 is an Android 2.1 smartphone, ready to take great images with its 8MP camera with Xenon flash. This really looks to be the most camera-centric Android handset to date, especially when you throw 720p HD video recording into the deal. Other than that, the Motorola MILESTONE XT720 seems to be a very good looking handset with characteristic design, large 3.7-inch, 480x854 resolution capacitive screen, HDMI interface, 3.5mm jack, and all other kinds of stuff.

HTC Desire HD spotted in the wild with EVO-like form factor, Android 2.2 on board?



Well, would you look at that -- it's an Android 2.2 handset with a giant screen, HTC watermark and plenty of similarities to (though apparently no front-facing camera like) the EVO 4G. Could this be the 4.3-inch, 1GHz HTC Desire HD? That's what a Hong Kong forum claims, and we've no doubt we'll have pseudo-confirmation at some point soon given how quickly and thoroughly handsets are leaking out these days.
