Nokia fans want a 4 inch smartphone with multiple OS support

Announced by Nokia almost two months ago, the Design by Community project is almost finished. Nokia fans had to vote for what features and characteristics they’d want in their dream Nokia smartphone. The voting is now closed, and a team of Nokia designers will make some sketches that will be turned into a concept device later this month.

Fans have voted at Nokia Conversations that the final device should be a 10mm thin monoblock made out of aluminum. Its features should include: a 4 inch capacitive touchscreen display, open source operating system, unlimited multitasking, Wi-Fi 802.11 n/b/g, USB 3.0, HDMI, Dolby surround sound, and an 8MP camera with 4X optical zoom, dual LED and Xenon flash, and HD video recording.

The handset should also have “DbC OS 1 temperature and location sensors so your device constantly monitors your whereabouts and the local conditions.”

Everything here seems doable, including the multiple OS support – Nokia could easily make a phone to support both Symbian and MeeGo.

Anyway, until a team of Nokia designers finishes the concept device, we’ve made a quick mock-up of what the handset might look like:

Nokia should present its own concept before the end of May, so let’s wait and see what they have to show us. Meanwhile, Nokia will be in search of a name for the concept phone.

First leaked pictures of the Nokia C7 with 8MP camera (Symbian^3 OS)




Our forum member keithlum has published a few pictures of what seems to be the Nokia C7. According to him, the Nokia C7 will have the following specs:

    * OS-symbian^3
    * 8MP camera with dual led flash.
    * face detection
    * 3.5 Capacitive Touch screen
    * multi touch supported
    * stereo speakers

So, what do you think, fake or real?

Nokia N9 MeeGo slider leaks in early video tease?



Um, yeah. Let's just put this out there: the image above was grabbed from a video that could be an early, leaked teaser for the N9, Nokia's first handset to run the MeeGo OS. Could be. The production quality of the promo is certainly up to snuff and the industrial design of the slider itself features just enough N8 to make the whole thing

QWERTY-enabled Nokia N9 surfaces, runs on Symbian^3

We have just been treated to several live shots of what seems to be the yet unannounced Nokia N9. The Symbian^3-powered smartphone with a tilting slide-out QWERTY keyboard packs an 8 megapixel autofocus camera.

Unfortunately, the Nokia N9 doesn’t share the xenon flash of its N8 sibling, but goes for a modest dual-LED unit instead. There is also no confirmation yet if the N9 can do HD video.



While the source is unable to provide any further specs about what seems to be the Nokia new smartphone flagship, it seems that Wi-Fi, GPS and 3G with HSDPA are pretty safe bets. A 3.5” screen with a resolution of 360 x 640 pixels is also all but certain.

The guys who posted the photos of the prototype, promised to review it thoroughly in the following days so we should learn more about the device soon.

This leak is somewhat surprising, given that Nokia made an official statement that the N8 will be the last Symbian-running member of the Nseries. We guess that there is still a good chance that the prototype will not go by N9 but will join the Eseries instead.

Po meni je ovo bolje od N8.
Kamera od 8MP je dovoljna, ima HDMI, ali tu je i tastatura. Koja btw deluje udobno za korišćenje zbog velikog razmaka između tastera, neka to prokomentariše neko ko je zapravo koristio ovakve qwerty uređaje
