White Nokia E71 caught in the wild



Nokia keep teasing us with its upcoming E71 business smartphone. We've seen the full QWERTY-keyboard equipped device in the wild for quite a few times and now images of the white version emerged on the web. What can I say, take a look at the photo above. It rocks and I love the white version even more than the original black/silver one. I've no doubts Nokia will sell tons of these to both business and individual users…

Nokia patent application for tube-like cellphone - redefining the Tube?



Nokia's got another take on the Nokia Tube. No, it's not a variant to the Nokia 5800 XpressMedia Tube, we're talking about this here patent application from Espoo. Proving that there's no end to patentable ideas, Nokia has applied for a patent on a tube-shaped mobile phone.

The cylindrical handset sports a "ribbon" that can slide up and down the device's lengthwise axis. There are apparently two different UIs in this device, differentially activated by the "ribbon's" position - slide it down and the handset works like a traditional cellphone, slide it the other way and you get a camera.

Nifty? Sure. Marketable? Probably not.

Keepin' it real fake, part CXXII: if Nokia won't make it, China will



Don't get us wrong, Nokia's Aeon concept is beautiful. By the time you remove all the fanciful, nonexistent technology and try to come up with a dead ringer of your own, though, a certain something is lost in translation. A manufacturer -- not Nokia, trust us -- has now tried (and failed) to recreate the Aeon's magic in a retail package, dubbing it the YX-W168 and throwing in dual SIM capability, 2 megapixel camera, and that critical "invisible keyboard" lit by a handful of blue LEDs, but there's only one small problem: it looks nothing like the Aeon. Simple steps like getting rid of the "Vogue Lifestyle" label etched across the phone's edge would've gone a short way toward making it a more believable rip, but then again, not really.

Nokia E90i: novi communicator sa 5mpix kamerom

Стало известно, что компания Nokia готовит к выпуску новый "коммуникатор" - смартфон E90i Communicator. Устройство продолжит данную серию, оно призвано заменить модель E90. Как сообщается, форм-фактор производитель планирует оставить тот же: горизонтальная раскладушка с двумя дисплеями и двум клавиатурами. Только E90i обещает быть более тонким, чем предыдущий Communicator. Основные характеристики смартфона останутся прежними, но появится 5-Мп камера и 8 Гб встроенной памяти. В качестве сроков анонса Nokia E90i Communicator заявлена осень этого года. А продажи должны начаться в декабре-январе.

It was learned that the company Nokia is preparing to release a new "Communicator" - smartphone E90i Communicator. The device will continue this series, it is meant to replace the model E90. In Time For Christmas??



8 MPX monsterFor all the Nseries fanboys getting nervous over all the 8 megapixel device announcements, there is reason to take some comfort.

Maximus over at Just Another Mobile Phone Blog, one of my favorite websites, has everyone breathing a sigh of relief, and though its nothing official, I've learned to trust Maximus' information.

In his post about the mobile imaging arms race, Maximus makes mention of an "8 megapixel monster" Nokia has "in the works."

Maximus goes on to also describe it as a "pretty good phone" slated to begin shipping later this year near November or December.

So the mobile imaging champion has a compelling counterpunch of its own planned. With the offerings from Samsung (INNOV8), Motorola ('last stand' UIQ powered 8 mpx phone), and Sony Ericsson (C905), it better well be compelling.

If it's even just competitive, the mobile imaging marketplace will definitely be entering a new phase, and more mobiles will be replacing standalone compact point and shoot digital cameras from now on.

Није то било лако - од појединих дизајнерских решења "Нокијиних" лажњака лепо ми се подизала утроба. 

Nokia to launch two new Nseries devices on on August 18th? N79? N85?



Nokia will be announcing two new Nseries smartphones on this coming Monday at 8am UK time. The word on the street is that we’ll see the Finnish giant going all official with the N79 and N85.

As you may recall, the N79 is a somewhat simple lookin’ candybar, sporting a 2.4-inch display and a 5 megapixel camera. We’re also guessing this baby will come with aGPS and WiFi support.

On the other hand, the N85 has that dual-sliding mechanism we’ve already seen on the N95 and N96. Quad-band GSM/GPRS/EDGE radio is on board and so is the HSPA support. 5 megapixel is coupled with dual LED flash, and there’s also WiFi and aGPS.

Symbian with S60 Feature Pack 2 is running all the show in the back of both device. Stay tuned as we unveil more…
