Jermaine Beckford scored twice as Leeds boosted their promotion challenge by routing Yorkshire rivals Huddersfield.

Walsall v Leeds Preview ( by Tim Whelan)

Leeds have one change to make for the visit to Walsall, due to Kandol’s suspension, but otherwise we will be at full strength.

The pitch will be covered overnight as a precaution against the frost, but at the moment there isn’t any real danger of the game being called off. Walsall have less than 1,000 home tickets left (which they will only sell to fans with a ‘booking history’) and Leeds have sold out the away allocation of 3,000. We’re not famous any more! All our away games so far have given the hosts their biggest crowd of the season, and it’s nice to see that this game will be no exception.

Dennis Wise isn’t letting on who will take Kandol’s place up front. Flo has come off the bench to score late goals in both of last week’s home wins, so he now has a strike rate this season of a goal for every 37 minutes played! But he is unlikely to start as he is still building up his fitness after injury and Wise doesn’t think he will last a full 90 minutes. Fortunately Constantine has recovered from his broken toe, while the other option is the lumpen figure of Mark De Vries.

After winning the last two games by big margins Leeds could be forgiven for going into this game full of confidence, but Wise has warned his troops that Walsall have also been climbing the table after a fine run of recent form. He told the official site “It's going to be a tough game for us and they'll cause us problems, we know that”. Walsall are unbeaten in their last ten matches and are now eighth in the league, as well as being involved in the third round of the FA Cup. "They are a very well organised side who play 4-4-2 and we know what they are about. We have had a look at them and this game will be tough for us. They are a decent team and it will be up to us to 'do a bit'."

Walsall have no new injury problems, and midfielder Peter Sweeney will be available again after missing the FA Cup win over Northampton. He is on loan from Stoke, and the Potters refused permission for him to play in that game. But Defenders Paul Boertien and Michael Dobson are both still out with knee injuries, and they will also be handicapped by fielding Michael Ricketts, who is on loan from Oldham as he makes yet another attempt to revive his career with a different club.

Saddlers boss Richard Money told his club’s official website "It's just another game for us in a busy period. They have made a terrific start to the season but we have had them watched three or four times and know what to expect. That said, we're in good form ourselves and will meet the challenge head on. It's a good opportunity for our younger lads to show how far they have come and they are looking forward to it”.  It’s a tricky game for us on a tight ground, and the conditions maybe a little bit tricky. (Bit of a nip in the air, hard pitch, one or two nancy boys wearing gloves, that type of thing). So I’ll wimp out and predict a draw.
