LONDON - Posrnuli engleski nogometni velikan Leeds United dobio je novog starog vlasnika i tako se spasio propasti. Leeds je prodan Kenu Batesu, dosadašnjem vlasniku koji je zbog velikih financijskih problema početkom svibnja proglasio stečaj kluba koji je prošle sezone pao u treći razred engleskog nogometa.

- Dobili smo nekoliko zanimljivih ponuda, no ponuda konzorcija na čijem je čelu Bates je bila najbolja - potvrdio je stečajni upravitelj Richard Fleming koji nije želio otkriti koliko je Bates platio za Leeds, niti kako će riješiti 50 milijuna eura duga.

Leeds je tri puta bio engleski prvak, a prije samo šest godina igrao je u polufinalu nogometne Lige prvaka.

Robbie Blake has joined Burnley in a deal worth up to £600,000.

The striker returns to Turf Moor, where he previously scored 51 goals in 137 appearances between 2002 and 2005 and was a firm crowd favourite.

Rob joined United from Birmingham City in the summer of 2005 and scored 20 goals in 87 appearances.

The 31-year-old was the club's second leading goalscorer last term with nine to his name.

Rob's final act in a United shirt was to score the opening goal in last weekend's 2-0 friendly victory against Shelbourne in Dublin.

Leeds United's Northern Ireland striker David Healy has joined Fulham for a fee of £1.5 million

Healy, the former Manchester United and Preston North End forward, becomes the fourth Northern Ireland player to follow the former national team manager Lawrie Sanchez to Craven Cottage.

Aaron Hughes and Steven Davis (from Aston Villa) and Chris Baird (Southampton) have already linked up again with Sanchez at Fulham this summer.

The latest, Healy, is Northern Ireland's record goalscorer.

He has signed a four-year contract with the Thames-side London club.

"David has showcased his striking pedigree at the highest level with Northern Ireland in recent years, and I have every confidence that he will produce the same form for Fulham," said Sanchez.

Healy, 27, boasts the impressive record of 29 goals in 59 appearances for his country -  a strike rate of a goal every other game.
 
"Obviously I know Lawrie Sanchez well and through his time as manager of Northern Ireland he has given me a lot of support, so I am really looking forward to playing under him in the Premier League," said Healy.

Five-star travel for Germany tour

Leeds have named five trialists in a 20-man squad that travels to Germany for a mini pre-season tour.

Watford's Scott Loach and Chelsea's Nick Hamman are two goalkeeper trialists who manager Dennis Wise will be taking a close look at.

Other trialists David Prutton, Curtis Weston and Leon Constantine will also be hoping to further impress Leeds' management team.

Youngsters Jonathan Howson, Ben Parker, Fabian Delph, Tom Elliott, Ben Parker and Rob Bayly will also be making the trip.

Leeds will kick-off their tour with a friendly against Union Berlin on Wednesday night (8pm) before taking on Dresden (Saturday 3pm) and then Energie Cottbus (Monday 8pm).

Lids kažnjen oduzimanjem 15 bodova


 - Fudbalski klub Lids dobio je dozvolu da igra u Engleskoj ligi 1, ali će sezonu 2007/08 početi sa 15 bodova zaostatka, saopštila je uprava ove lige.

Lids je bio pred gašenjem zbog dugovanja od 50 miliona evra, a slučaj se dodatno zakomplikovao kad je uprava kluba propustila da zaključi ugovor sa Kompani Voluntari Aranžmentom (CVA).

Čelnici kluba sa Eland rouda najavili su žalbu na ovu odluku, a novi vlasnik Ken Bejts rekao je da će uspeti da okupi dobru ekipu, koja će moći da odgovori izazovu u trećoj po kvalitetu ligi u Engleskoj.

Lids junajted je tri puta bio šampion Engleske - 1969, 1974. i 1992. godine, dok je 1972. osvojio FA kup.
