Tore Andre Flo spašava Lids

Bivši norveški reprezentativac Tore Andre Flo potpisao je sa engleskim drugoligašem Lidsom ugovor do kraja sezone.

Tridesettrogodišnji Flo tako će se ponovo naći u ekipi sa Denisom Vajsom sa kojim je nekoliko godina nastupao za londonski Čelsi, a sada trenira Lids.

Gorostasni napadač, koji je za reprezentaciju Norveške odigrao 76 utakmica, došao je u Lids kao slobodan igrač, nakon što je zbog čestih povreda ostao bez angažmana u Valerengi.

Flo je pažnju javnosti skrenuo igrama u Čelsiju za koji je nastupao od 1997. do 2000. godina i za to vreme postogao 50 pogodaka.

Njegov novi klub trenuto se bori za opstanak u engleskoj drugoj ligi i zauzima pretposlednju poziciju na tabeli.

Leeds ready to make double swoop

Leeds are set to sign defenders Robbie Elliott and Matt Heath on short-term deals until the end of the season.

Sunderland's Elliott, 33, made his debut as a loan player in the 2-1 victory over Coventry, but will now sign a permanent contract.

The former Newcastle star played eight games for the Black Cats.

Heath, 25, joined Leeds on loan from Coventry in November but did not play in the New Year's Day match against the Sky Blues under the terms of the deal. i naravno Flo
 

DENNIS ON SIGNINGS

Manager Dennis Wise expressed his delight at having signed Norwegian striker Tore Andre Flo and international defender Armando Sa.

"Tore is a goalscorer with a lot of ability. Some of the lads here were gobsmacked when they saw some of his touches in training and his finishing.  I think they were a little bit aback by him.

"I don't want to put too much pressure on him but I am sure he will do very well for us. He is a player, who if he gets a chance or two, they usually end up in the back of the net."

Dennis knows that brining Flo to Leeds has given the player an opportunity to put himself in the window again. "Yes it does, but it also gives us a quality player," he added.

The arrival on the same day, of the 32-year-old Sa, from Espanyol, brings another quality player with experience into the United squad.

Sa, who was born in Mozambique, developed his career in Portugal before moving to Spain to play for Espanyol. "He's a very good right back and has a lot of ability," explained the United boss.

"He a very good ball player and he will get forward. He is also very quick and that is something this is needed to add to the squad.

"He can also play on the right side of midfield which is also usual. He reminds me a bit of Dan Petrescu in the way plays. Dan was very clever and so is Armando and he will cause teams problems," added the United boss.

Midfielder Nigel Quashie is suspended while the Baggies are still waiting for international clearance before Robert Koren is eligible to play.

Tore Andre Flo is expected to make his debut for Leeds, but fellow new signing Tresor Kandol is cup-tied.

Armando Sa could make his debut subject to international clearance and Shaun Derry is fit again but Jonathan Douglas is suspended and Gary Kelly injured.

WEST BROMWICH ALBION against Leeds is a tie between two Championship clubs, positioned at either end of the table. The Baggies are 18 places better off and are chasing automatic promotion under Tony Mowbray - Leeds are deep in the relegation mire under Dennis Wise.

Since reaching the quarter-finals in 2001-02, Albion have been knocked out in either the third or fourth rounds. The five times FA Cup winners are all square with Leeds in the competition's head-to-head standings at two wins each. The Baggies prevailed most recently on 1 March 1979, winning 2-0 after extra time at home in a fourth round replay with goals from John Wile and Tony Brown.

Since Mowbray's appointment in October, Albion have won six, drawn three and lost seven of 16 games. They've won their last five at home. Both these clubs held Premiership status when Leeds last won at the Hawthorns, 1-3 on 24 August 2002. The second and most recent of Leeds' FA Cup triumphs over West Brom was on 24 February 1973, when Allan Clarke scored both in a 2-0 fifth round victory at Elland Road.
