SQUAD NUMBERS

The squad numbers have been confirmed for the 2008/09 season.

New signing Luciano Becchio will wear number 10, Andy Robinson is number 18, Enoch Showunmi 21, and Robert Snodgrass is allocated number 23.

Lubo Michalik takes over the number six shirt allocated to Matt Heath last season and Neil Kilkenny takes over the number eight shirt from the departed Alan Thompson.

Alan Sheehan steps up to number 11 in the squad numbers while the number 15 shirt returns to the list after being 'retired' for one season only to mark the points sanction imposed on the club last term. Fabian Delph will wear 15.

Evo odigrana je danas i generalna proba na Elland Roadu gdje je Leeds sasvim zasluženo sa 4:1 deklasirao belgijanskog Dendera što daje veliki optimizam pred narednu subotu i start nove sezone. Dva gola je postigao Huntington, a po jedan Marques i Beckford.

According to the ever-reliable Sun, Billionaire Anil Ambani could buy Leeds, if he fails to land his first target, Newcastle United.
According to The Sun, the sixth richest man in the world wants to buy the Toon, but has given the current Geordie chairman Mike Ashley a one-week deadline to decide whether to accept his £260 million offer. Ashley is also considering an offer from Singapore-based investors Profitable Group, and has yet to decide which bid to accept.
The paper quoted ‘a source close to the deal’ as saying "Ambani's people have seen how Ashley dealt with the last round of takeover revelations and will not stand for any nonsense.  Ambani means business and if Newcastle drag their heels he will be off to invest somewhere else and show Ashley just what he is missing out on."

Apparently, he is desperate to break into English football and will turn his attentions to Leeds if his offer is turned down. Which would be good news, as Telecommunications magnate Ambani has a personal fortune of £21billion, a sum which dwarfs even Abramovic’s riches.
So let’s hope there is some truth in this story, and that Ambani doesn’t make a deal with the Geordies. I can’t see Ken Bates dragging his heels if he got a decent offer that gave him a huge return on his investment, so here’s hoping for better times ahead…

Ambani is the chairman of Reliance Capital, Reliance Communications and Chairman & Managing Director, Reliance Energy, and was formerly Vice Chairman and Managing Director of Reliance Industries Limited. His personal stake in Reliance Communications is 66%.[1]. Reliance group is India's largest business house, founded by Anil's late father Dhirubhai Ambani (1938-2002). His mother is Kokilaben Ambani. He is married to Tina Ambani (Munim) who was a well known Indian Actress in early 80's, and with whom he has two sons, Jai Anmol and Jai Anshul.

The total investors' wealth in the four Anil Ambani Group firms -- Reliance Communications (RCOM), Reliance Capital (RCL), Reliance Energy (REL) and Reliance Natural Resources Ltd (RNRL) has reached 1,42,384 crore rupees, while total promoter holding is estimated at about Rs 87,000 crore. He is member of the Board of Governors, Indian Institute of Management, Ahmedabad. He is also a member of the Central Advisory Committee, Central Electricity Regulatory Commission. In June 2004, Anil was elected as an Independent Member of the Rajya Sabha - Upper House, Parliament of India with the support of the Samajwadi Party. In March 2006, he resigned. Recently after his brother Mukesh Ambani he also has his name in the books of Trillionaires.[citation needed]

Anil has been linked with several starlets in his long career including his current wife of more than 15 years. He is a close friend of movie star Amitabh Bachchan[citation needed] . One of his major achievements in the entertainment industry is the takeover of Adlabs, the movie production to distribution to multiplex company that owns Mumbai's only dome theatre.

On August 3rd 2008, it had emerged Ambani has become a leading conteneder to take over English Premier League team, Newcastle United in a £230m deal.[3]. Should this bid fall through, it has also been rumoured that he would be interested in a takover bid of League One club, Leeds United.
