Samsung Omnia 16GB, Samsung Android Phone and more leaks

Well, it looks that today is Samsung leak day.

Just few hours ago we reported that there’s a new Samsung 12 megapixel handset and probably 8 mpx handset with 3x optical zoom coming out at MWC 2009 in Barcelona.

Now the Dutch site GSM Helpdesk, which has been spot on many previous Samsung leaks confirms it. And adds some more info info about these new handsets.

The 8 mpx/Zoom one will be a direct successor of Innov8 and will probably run on Symbian S60 OS. The 12 mpx Samsung phone will be a feature phone that will run on Samsung’s own OS.

GSM HelpDesk also says that within next two weeks (that’s right inline with the start of MWC 09) Samsung will announce it’s first Android phone. Though no other details are available for now.

And then we have Windows Mobile Italy blog, which brings us info on an update to a heavily promoted Samsung Omnia handset, in the form of Samsung Omnia 16GB version:

LG Arena KM900 touchscreen phone shows itself in print



We got a whiff of this one last month courtesy of the FCC, but it looks like LG's new Arena KM900 touchscreen phone is now fully making its way out into the open, with the above image and some specs to go along with it surfacing in advance of MWC. As you can see above, this one bears a little resemblance to the Samsung Omnia, and boasts a 5-megapixel camera (plus a secondary one for video calls, it seems), built-in GPS, WiFi, and what's described as an "innovative S-Class 3D interface." Unfortunately, complete specs are still a bit of a mystery, but the phone is apparently on track to hit Europe as soon as March, and it seems a pretty safe bet that LG will have more to say about this one at MWC later this month.

The 8 megapixel Samsung i8910 records HD video, ready to roll

Samsung i8910 is the new addition to the long line of Samsung phones that leaked these last two weeks. This time we're talking something big though - both in size and in features. The i8910 will be the first phone to record HD video. It's also packs a huge touchscreen and runs on the Symbian S60 OS 5th edition (think Nokia N97).

Samsung i8910 seems to be one of the juiciest phones to be announced at this MWC. Its most conspicuous feature is the huge touchscreen, which looks similar to the 3.8-incher on HTC Touch HD.

As far as rumors go Samsung i8910 sports an 8 megapixel camera with HD video recording (1280 x 768 pixels), GPS and Wi-Fi connectivity, HDMI output and a 3.5mm audio jack plus DivX and DNLA certification. Considering the front barely noticeable camera, we might be sure of the 3G support.



The Samsung i8910 will come in 8GB and 16GB versions much like the Samsung Omnia it comes to upgrade.

Currently there's no info about the OS, but some sources quote it as the latest Symbian S60 5th edition, used in Nokia 5800 XpressMusic and Nokia N97.

We just can't wait to get our hands on one of these babies.

Mozilla phone concept - a BlackBerry with OLED keys

Ever wondered how would a Mozilla phone look like? If you have, a possible answer to this question can be seen below.

The Mozilla phone that we see here is a concept designed by Billy May. It’s created by mixing the old BlackBerry 7130 with an Optimus keyboard, thus it’s not exactly the pretties handset around.

However, it is, definitely, an interesting concept. In the creator’s vision, the Mozilla phone should come with a set of OLED keys, which can change their appearance and usability according to your needs. For example, now you have a SureType QWERTY keyboard, and the next minute you have shortcut keys for the websites and web-services you use the most.   







So it’s kind of like an open-source phone that can be adjusted by users themselves.

The question is: would Mozilla really want to be involved in developing such a handset?

LG LBA- C300 something called Bluetooth enabled Qwerty Card

Bluetooth is a nifty feature to have in a mobile phone, what with all those accessories you can pair to it.
And there’s no shortage of these mobile phone accessories today  – speakerphones for your car, headsets, wireless keyboards, even watches.
But once in a while some strange and interesting thingie to pair to a mobile phone pops up. And I even have trouble figuring out what it is at first.
For example a thingie named  LG LBA-C300 Bluetooth enabled Qwerty Card, which just passed through FCC :



When I first looked at the pictures, LG C-300 seemed a pretty strange device. I even had to open the users manual to figure out what the heck this thing is.
It seems that LB GBA C300 is supposed to be used mainly as a wireless QWERTY keyboard for LG phones.
It is able to write and send new messages and display allows you to read the incoming ones. LG C300 Qwerty Card also allows you to enter, store and view contact information on a paired phone, has the clock, alarm and calendar functions, can be used as a stop watch,  act as a keypad for a phone, be remote phone camera controller and allows you to reject incoming calls or send them into silent mode if you forgot to set your phone to it in a meeting.

Overall LG LB-C300 looks like an interesting gadget. Not an essential one to have, but I can see some uses for such device next to a touchscreen phone like LG Arena KM900.

Samsung Acme i8910 gets caught flashing its S60 5th Edition



If there's a single phone that could steal even a sliver of spotlight from the GSM Pre, Windows Mobile 6.5, and a barrage of Android announcements, this beaut could be it. We've already seen the Acme's hardware, but now we have the first shots of Samsung's lovely new slate with the screen on -- and guess what? It's not going to be a WinMo 6.5 launch device, because it just so happens to be running S60 5th Edition. Not only does that make us forget the 5800 ever existed, it seriously puts our pending love for the N97 in jeopardy -- especially when you take into account the alleged 8 megapixel cam, frickin' HDMI support, and a display that would put our own HDTVs to shame. More on this little gem at MWC, we presume.

HTC, Samsung, LG looking to Snapdragon for future handsets?


Qualcomm's Snapdragon mobile device platform was little more than suitcase-sized prototype vaporware at CES, but with the launch of the Toshiba TG01, it looks like it's ready to make a move -- word on Digitimes' somewhat unreliable Taiwanese street is that HTC, LG, Samsung and others are interested in the high-powered chipset. We're guessing that means we'll be seeing more more hotrod Windows Mobile devices in the short term, but Snapdragon also supports Android, so we're holding out hope that those upcoming HTC G-series devices crank the gaming and entertainment factors to 11.
