SkyItalia's man of the match Sinisa Mihajlovic analysed the Nerazzurri's performance against Ascoli in a pitchside interview at the Stadio Del Duca. "We earned a very valuable victory at a difficult ground," the Serb defender said. "Ascoli are an organised side who play good football, we made a bad start but we had the strength to recompact. This victory is very important to face next week's Tim Cup semi-final return and the derby in the best way possible."

Mihajlovic, who scored Inter's winner against Ascoli with his 27th career goal from free kicks, added: "We have been through some difficult moments after the Villarreal defeat, but only we were to blame and now we have to get through this situation.

"Why did I thank Mancini after the goal? Because he was criticised a lot when he brought me on for Figo in Villarreal. He was only trying to decide the match with a few free kicks, and this happened today and he was right.

"Now each one of us has to look inside himself. We have to always give our best and stay united because we want to get through this difficult moment as soon as possible.

"Would I confirm Mancini as Inter coach for next season? If you ask me it's obvious I will say yes. I know it's easier to change a coach than eleven players, but Inter have always played well and I can say for sure that only us players are to blame for all that has happened."

UDINE - Tim Cup holders Inter drew 2-2 with Udinese at the Stadio Friuli to seal a 3-2 aggregate victory and reach the final of Italy's domestic cup competition for the ninth time in the club's history.

Santiago Solari added to his first-leg goal to put Inter in command after eight minutes and leave Udinese needing to score three times. The Argentine winger met Wome's low ball in from the left and hit it first time past Bianconeri shotstopper Morgan De Sanctis.

A lacklustre cup tie came alive in the final stages when Udinese equalised through Christian Obobo on 83 minutes. The Nigerian ran on to Baronio's through ball then shrugged off challenges from Materazzi and Burdisso before firing past Julio Cesar.

Inter were back in front three minutes later when David Pizarro scored against his ex-club with a precise diagonal shot. Udinese levelled a minute from time with Vincenzo Iaquinta sending Julio Cesar the wrong way from the penalty spot after foul on the Italian striker by Marco Materazzi.

In the two-legged final (3, 11 May) Inter face the winners of Wednesday evening's second semi-final return between Roma and Palermo (1st leg 2-1 to Palermo).

"Da, malo mi je sve dosadilo...nema potrebe za protestima ili nasiljem da bi neko otišao. Želja da to učinim već postoji", izjavio je Morati, aludirajući na proteste navijača Intera zbog eliminacije kluba iz Lige šampiona. 

Morati, čija politika dovođenja skupih igrača svake sezone još nije donela ni jedan veliki trofej, još prošle sedmice je sugerisao da bi mogao da ode iz kluba. Dr Moratti, what is the mood at the club like after the events of Saturday night?
"Giacinto Facchetti has explained very well the club's mood towards the fans and the players. We're sorry they had to undergo this kind of sacrifice and suffering. On the other hand there's this atmosphere at the moment which isn't just around Inter, and it's certainly not a nice thing. We have to learn to put up with it. There's zero tolerance, but unfortunately this is the moment we're witnessing."

Do you feel that this episode could affect the players in any way?
"I hope the players aren't affected by this because it would be very serious and the matter would be doubly negative. I hope they react. Not for this reason, but for the need to get good results for the club, their fans and also those who, peacefully, always suffer and hope with lots of passion."

You have been bothered by this kind of protest in the past. Now it has happened again, the police intervened immediately and those responsible have already been arrested. Is there anything in particular that bothered you, considering that it happened unexpectedly after the victory at Ascoli?
"The police have done their duty. From my and the club's point of view we're sorry. These reactions and this violent behaviour does not achieve anything positive. If they are signs to indicate other solutions or decisions there's no need to encourage someone to drop everything and leave. I might have this idea, but not as a result of this kind of violence. It's just a demonstration of aversion towards the players, which unfortunately can only have negative consequences. So I hope it doesn't happen again because the outcome can only be negative, unless this is just an excuse for further acts of violence."

It seems that your intention is to leave.
"No. What I said was that I don't need these kind of signs - if indeed this was the kind of signal given, because each person has his own way of feeling. My passion is against no one. I try to do what I do with some generosity. I certainly don't start fighting someone who through violence thinks he can make me understand the results aren't coming. I have no need for this kind of violence."

Was bringing the derby kick-off forward to 18:00 the best solution?
"I think it's an intelligent solution and a more respectful time considering the day (Good Friday), which is certainly not the best day. I'm sorry we have to play on Good Friday, but this is definitely useful for Milan because it's right for them to have the same treatment as Barcelona."

Today it was reported that you said you want to leave Inter, but that you don't know who to leave it to.
"Who means that you always have to find someone who is willing to make all kinds of sacrifices and this is not very easy. It was a practical reply."

Sorry about the brutal question. Are you fed up?
"Yes, a little bit."

Mancini said he'd like to leave Italy after what has happened. What do you think about this?
"This is something he said and he's free to do so. Me a bit less. Mancini can stay if he wants to."
