ADRIANO ON TARGET AS INTER BEAT ATALANTA
MILAN - Serie A leaders Inter came back from a goal down to defeat Atalanta 2-1 in Saturday's Lombardy derby and take a seven-point lead into the Christmas break.

Mancini's men fell behind to a Doni goal early on before Adriano levelled with his first goal since March. Loria then turned into his own net to hand Inter their 11th consecutive league victory, equalling the record set by Roma last season.

Inter were delivered a double blow in the opening stages at the Meazza, losing Alvaro Recoba to injury before Cristiano Doni put Atalanta in front with a sweetly-struck volley from the edge of the area after collecting an Ariatti pass.

Julio Cesar made two good saves from Zampagna as the Bergamo Nerazzurri looked to increase their lead.

Inter's best chance of a first-half reply fell to young defender Marco Andreolli who was unlucky not to score from Cambiasso's floated pass.

Adriano went even closer five minutes after the restart, stabbing inches wide of the far post after Crespo got a touch to Maxwell's cross into the six-yard box.

The Brazilian bomber ended his goal drought with a deserved equaliser on 64 minutes, sending a diving header from a Figo cross past a hapless Calderoni.

Inter's second came 11 minutes later when Loria headed into his own net in an attempt to deny Andreolli after Figo's curling free kick took a slight deflection off Carrozzieri.

Atalanta kept the Nerazzurri defence busy in the final stages, Donati forcing Julio Cesar into a terrific save before Maxwell made a vital clearance on the line from Rivalta.

 ADRIANO: "THANKS TEAM-MATES & MORATTI"

] MILAN - Adriano ended his nine-month goal drought with a magnificent diving header against Atalanta. "I'm really pleased," admitted the Brazilian forward on Inter Channel after the 2-1 victory. "The team has always had faith in me and this has really helped me. Now I have scored, I hope to score many others to help the team win.

"I want to thank my team-mates for helping me, and all those who love me. These moments aren't easy, you have to be calm and patient, and work to improve. I have missed many times, and I felt bad because I didn't manage to do things well for the team, Moratti and all the fans.

"How important has Moratti been? He has helped me so much, I no longer have a father and he has given me some important advice. He is a great person and I hope to do a lot for him. I am very happy today."

STANKOVIC: "COMPLIMENTS TO EVERYBODY"

"They played better than us in the first half but we made a few changes after the restart and overturned the result. Compliments to everybody, it was a very difficult game," Dejan Stankovic told Inter Channel after the 2-1 win over Atalanta.

"Eleven wins in a row? We're not a team that gives up, we don't lose our heads in difficult moments.

"Figo? He came on and was superb. Adriano? He must stay calm now he has scored, and he will go on to score many goals."
