Inter Milan president wants Chelsea's Lampard

Inter Milan president Massimo Moratti is ready to move for Chelsea midfielder Frank Lampard.

Corriere dello Sport says Moratti wants to bring Lampard to Milan as a replacement for Patrick Vieira, who could be bombed out of the San Siro next summer.

Vieira has angered Inter fans by being unapologetic after being injured while on international duty with France and Moratti has identified Lampard as the ex-Arsenal captain's ideal replacement.

Lippi: Inter Are Scudetto Favourites



Ex-Italy boss Marcello Lippi believes that Inter are the favourites to win Serie A this season but says the title will go all the way down to the wire.

Lippi had an unsuccessful spell as Coach of Inter during the 1999/00 season, before returning to glory with former club Juventus and then of course leading Italy to the 2006 World Cup in Germany. 

The Viareggio-born tactician is currently on a managerial sabbatical and has offered some of his views on Italian football while on holiday in the Tuscan island of Elba. 

“Inter remain the favourites for the Scudetto but I do not believe they will run away with the championship,” said Lippi.   

“This year the title will be a sprint for the finish line. Roma are almost equal with Inter. 

“The squad of Spalletti is now ready to win everything. I watched them against Manchester United last week and they showed great personality.” 

Unbeaten Inter are currently top the Serie A standings with 17 points from seven games. Juventus and Roma are tied in second place with 14 points, while Fiorentina sit in fourth a point further back.

European Champions Milan are already seven points off the pace after their poor recent run of results.

Ibrahimovic: I Want To End My Career With Malmo


Swedish superstar Zlatan Ibrahimovic has revealed that he wants to end his playing days with hometown club Malmo.

The Inter striker began his career with Malmo in 1999 and scored 14 goals in 40 matches before being snapped up by Dutch giants Ajax. 

Ibracadabra has since moved to Serie A and developed into one of the best strikers in the world however the 26-year-old wants to return to his humble beginnings before hanging up his boots. 

“I want to end my career at Malmo, playing for my hometown club,” said Ibrahimovic. 

“This is where my heart lies and where I grew up as a person and as a footballer.” 

Ibrahimovic, who is currently joint-top scorer in Serie A this season with seven goals, was also asked whether he had hopes for winning the Golden Ball. 

“It is not something that I think about constantly,” said Zlatan.

“However if I should win the prize, it would be the greatest moment of my career.” 

The ex-Juventus hitman is currently training with the Swedish national team ahead of their Euro 2008 qualifier in Liechtenstein on Saturday evening.

Cordoba explains rift with National Team coach

MILAN - Ivan Ramiro Cordoba explained to inter.it his decision not to play for the Colombian national team as long as Jorge Luis Pinto is coach.

The defender said: "I want to avoid any misunderstanding or controversy. I will talk about it for the last time to avoid exploitation.

After the Copa America I told Pinto of my decision. Along with other team-mates I had noticed too much distrust from the coaching staff.

"Pinto still called me up for the games against Brazil and Bolivia, and I telephoned him to say that my position hadn't changed and asked for the call-up to be revoked, and it was."

Cordoba added: "Further to some incorrect reporting in Colombia I wrote a letter to the federation, who already knew everything, and a press release to explain more clearly to the fans and confirm my love for Colombia and my national team, who I hope can always get important results.

"I'll say it again: Pinto has known about the true and only reason for my decision since the Copa America - too much distrust of players who have always given their all for Colombia."
