BELGRADE - (Adnkronos) - Serbia & Montenegro head coach Ilija Petkovic has named 'Italians' Dejan Stankovic and Mirko Vucinic in his 23-man World Cup squad.

ROBERTO MANCINI AFTER CAGLIARI DRAW

CAGLIARI - "It was very hot this afternoon but we dominated the match. I'm pleased we didn't lose after falling behind twice," said Roberto Mancini following Inter's 2-2 with Cagliari. "The absence of Martins influenced the starting lineup. We started with a 4-3-3 which wasn't incisive, then I changed to a 4-4-2 and things went decidedly better."

Asked for his opinion of Inter's season, Mancini replied: "It's difficult to draw a conclusion. We have finished third with 76 points and we have slowed down a bit in our last matches. We are experiencing the biggest scandal in the history of world football. It is a situation that not even we can understand completely just now. It is a defeat for everyone. Now we need to see how things develop."

CAGLIARI - Santiago Solari scored his fifth goal for Inter in the Serie A Week 38 draw at Cagliari. "I'm pleased about my goal," he said on Inter Channel after the match. "Perhaps I was wrong not to give the ball to Cruz when I tried a chip from thirty metres in the second half because Julio would have been one-on-one with Chimenti."

On the current crisis in Italian football, Solari said: "What is happening has never been seen before. It is incredible. In these past few days I have understood something my team-mates always tell me. I have understood what it means to be an Interista and I share this pride. I have only been here for a year, other team-mates have been here for a lot longer."

Manćini ostaje trener Intera


Uprkos još jednoj sezoni u kojoj nisu ispunjena očekivanja navijača, trener Intera Roberto Manćini vodiće tim i naredne godine, saopštio je u utorak vlasnik slavnog milanskog kluba Masimo Morati.

"Manćini ostaje trener, to je sada sasvim izvesno. Nadam se, medjutim, da ćemo naredne godine konačno stići do šampionske titule", rekao je Morati u razgovoru sa novinarima.

Kako pišu italijanski mediji, na odluku Moratija uticala je i velika afera koja potresa italijanski fudbal.

Inter je jedini od velikih klubova iz Serije A koji nije optužen za kupovanje bodova i mešetarenja sa sudijama, pa je Morati očigledno zaključio da u nameštenom prvenstvu bolji rezultat nije ni mogao da se ostvari.

Manćini je Inter preuzeo u leto 2004. godine i u protekle dve sezone u šampionatu Italije dva puta je zauzeo treće mesto, a obe godine trijumfovao je u nacionalnom kupu.
To, medjutim, ne zadovoljava ni Moratija, ni navijače. Oni žele šampionsku titulu koju je Inter poslednji put osvojio 1989. godine.

MILAN - Dejan Stankovic has made a full recovery from the muscle injury suffered in the Coppa Italia final return leg against Roma and is set to begin a five-day World Cup training camp with the Serbia & Montenegro national team near Belgrade.

Ilija Petkovic's team face Uruguay this Saturday at the Red Star Stadium in Belgrade, known locally as the Marakana, then leave Serbia for Austria on Monday 29 May for another week of training before the short trip to Germany on Monday 5 June.

Mancini, from where do Inter restart?
"We restart from a certainty, which is that of being able to play a fair championship. And I believe that all assessments of the Moratti administration and these years in which Inter have never managed to win a Scudetto, are opinions that should be completely reviewed because I think Inter could have won two or three Scudettos in these years. And let's hope we start with a team that will play in a fair championship without any swindles."

Let's talk about the transfer market. Will Luca Toni join Inter?
"I honestly don't know. It's too soon. And with all that has happened it's difficult to talk about the transfer market. Do I like Toni? Just like everyone likes him. Like Ronaldinho, Van Nistelrooy, and every important player. There's no one who would say 'no, I don't like Toni'."

How many reinforcements does your Inter need?
"I don't know, because we will lose a lot of players who are out of contract and the squad will lose a few players as a result. So we need to take many things into account. It's a bit hard to say right now."

Do you think the World Cup will do Adriano good?
"Yes, I think so. A World Cup gives you great incentives. Also, he can have a good rest in retreat, live calmly and therefore play calmly."

In what is Capello better than Mancini at the moment?
"Capello has won many Scudettos. And what counts is what you have achieved."

What mark would you give to Roberto Mancini's season?

I will be supporting Italy, Argentina, Brazil, England, and every team that has people representing Inter. I will be supporting Italy and I hope Italy win the World Cup because I believe it could help greatly, especially in terms of the fans' enthusiasm. If Italy don't win then... England..."

Who will be the star of the World Cup?
"There's Messi who has had an injury and Rooney who could be the stars of the World Cup, but unfortunately we don't what condition they will be in. And I also hope there will be an Italian among them: Totti, Toni..."
