PRIMERA: Barsu nema ko da pobedi

Fudbaleri Barselone ispisali su u nedelju uveče još jednu stranicu u blistavoj istoriji kluba, ali i verovatno rešili pitanje prvaka Španije za 2009. godinu, pre nego što je ona kalendarski i nastupila.

Barsa je na "El Madrigalu" pobedila i Viljareal (1:2) i tako prvi put u svojoj istoriji posle 16 kola prvenstva dostila 41 bod! Ekipa Pepea Gvardiole počela je prvenstvo porazom u Numansiji, potom je usledio remi na domaćem terenu sa Rasingom i od tada, a bio je 13. septembar, samo je još Hetafeu pošlo za rukom da ne izgubi u sudaru sa pravom katalonskom mašinom!

Viljareal je poveo golom Kanija u 41. minutu, ali su Sejdu Keita u 54. i Tjeri Anri u 65. minutu učinili da "žuta podmornica" sklizne na šesto mesto na tabeli, a da njihov tim Novu godinu dočeka sa deset bodova više od prvog pratioca Sevilje, 11 od Atletika i Valensije, a 12 od Reala i Viljareala...

Tačno je da je Barselona pre dve sezone prolećni deo prvenstva dočekala sa 12 bodova više od Reala i na kraju izgubila prvenstvo u poslednjem kolu upravo prepustivši titulu najomraženijem rivalu, ali kako igra Gvardiolin tim ove jeseni, samo čudo može da ih zaustavi da ne vrate titulu na Kamp Nou, posle dve godine vladavine Madriđana.

Viljareal je u finišu meča, igrajući sa igračem više, imao nekoliko velikih prilika za remi, ali napadači tog tima nisu bili spretni. Prethodno je sudija Klos Gomez u 75. minutu isključio defanzivca Barse Pikea, koji je prvi žuti karton dobio iu 70. minutu.

To je bio prvi crveni karton za Barselonu u ligi, a i taj je bio prestrog, jer Pike nije imao nameru da u vazdušnom duelu udarni, niti povredi rivala. Ipak, sudar je bio strašan, a sudija je procenio da je Pike bio previše snažan u tom trenutku.

Malo kasnije, Gomez je propustio da dosudi faul nad Samjuelom Etoom, za penal. Eto je kasnije zamenjen i nije nastavio sa prosekom "gol po meču", on sa 15 pogodaka ostaje na čelu liste strelaca ispred Davida Vilje (12) i Gonzala Iguaina (11).

Record-breaking ‘winter champions’

With three games to go in the first half of the season, Josep Guardiola’s Barça have been crowned ‘winter champions’. They have also made the best ever start to the League in the club’s history.

Winter officially began this Sunday and Barça have just been crowned winter champions. With three games still to go in the first half of the League season, the Catalans have the best record after sixteen games.

Best start

Plus Guardiola’s side have set a new record against Villarreal; the club’s best ever League start with 41 points from 13 wins, two draws and just one loss. The record was previously held by Frank Rijkard’s team in the 2004/05 season when they picked up 39 points in their first 16 games.

Since the introduction of three points for a win in 1995/96, no other side has managed to achieve 41 points after 16 matches.

Record breakers away from home

And the records don’t end there. The win at Villarreal means that Barça now have seven away wins on the bounce in the League, the first time this has happened in the club’s history. Their other six victims on the road have been Seville, Recreativo, Malaga, Athletic Bilbao, Espanyol and Sporting Gijón.

Reversing the trend

Barça has also won at El Madrigal for the first time in three seasons. How hard it is to win away at Villarreal is shown by the fact that the Catalans have only done it four times in the last ten years, today’s result included. The last time Barça beat the Yellow Submarine away from Camp Nou was in the 2005-06 season when they won two nil.


Txiki: "Title doesn’t mean much"

Txiki Begiristain admits that the title of winter champions “is nice but it doesn’t mean much". Barça’s technical director is still wary and thinks the chance to increase the Catalans’ lead at the top is more important.

He also denied that the club has received an offer from Betis to take Martín Cáceres on loan. “They haven’t asked for it and neither has the player,” he said. “We aren’t going to make someone available in the January transfer window just because he’s playing less than expected."

Guardiola: “It’s a massive result”

Guardiola thinks that the win away at Villarreal is “a big step forward” for Barça in the League. Bearing in mind the quality of their opponents and the fact that winning in El Madrigal is always tough, he thinks Sunday’s win was “a massive result”.

“The team has got a massive result,” said Guardiola. “We’ve played a great all-round game and we’ve also had that bit of luck you sometimes need. It’s a big step forward.” He was also very happy that his team has picked up all twelve points from its last four games, all of which have been against fellow title contenders. “Twelve points is a pretty good return,” he commented.

“Unimaginable” lead

Barcelona ends 2008 on top with 41 points, ten more than their nearest challengers Seville; eleven more than Atlético Madrid and Valencia who are third and fourth; and twelve more than Real Madrid and Villarreal. “It’s a good lead,” admitted Guardiola, and one which would have been “unimaginable” after the first League match when Barça went down away at Numancia by 1-0. “But there’s still a long way to go,” he pointed out.

Quality Villarreal

Guardiola was full of praise for Pellegrini’s side. “You expect Villarreal to create chances,” he said. “They’ve been up there for years now and they do things really well.” What Barça has to do now is to rest and recharge its batteries before the rush of games they will have at the start of next year.

Hard to hold players back

In the 74th minute and with Barça ahead by 1-2, the Catalans were suddenly left with only ten men when Piqué was given his marching orders. “Even down to ten men and winning, at times we go a bit over the top,” said Guardiola. “ We need to learn how to play these types of games, even though sometimes it’s hard as a manager to hold your players back when they all want to get forward. Attacking’s all well and good but you can’t afford to throw away everything you’ve worked for in just a few minutes.”

“All games are tough”

Barça’s manager repeated his view that “all games are tough”, and pointed out that while going to places like Huelva, Bilbao, Pamplona and Santander isn’t easy, Villarreal poses a special challenge. Guardiola joked that the press could praise the team as much as they liked “but only until we get back to work”.

“Stats don’t win things”

Finally Guardiola was keen not to let people get carried away by Barça becoming ‘winter champions’ with three games still to go in the first half of the season. “That’s just stats,” he said, “and stats don’t win things.”


Match winner Henry

Guardiola underlined Thierry Henry’s performance in this evening’s game at El Madrigal. “I’m really happy for him,” he said. “He’s a really great guy, very polite and humble and that’s important in a player with a track record like his. He knows he can win games and that’s very important for us because it gives us lots of options.” 

Piqué: "The second one wasn’t even a foul"

"It wasn’t even a foul, let alone a yellow card,” said a very unhappy Piqué as he left the dressing room after becoming the first Barça player to be sent off this season.

In spite of getting his marching orders, Piqué thinks that "the most important thing is that it didn’t affect the result and the team always believed in victory. We had some chances in the first half, and even though they went ahead we still scored twice."

All of the players stressed the importance of this win before the Christmas break. Despite being ten points ahead, the players remain cautious and emphasise the need to continue working hard.

Eto'o:

"We’ve got to keep going in the same way as we can still be caught. The best thing is that the number of games left is getting smaller."

"We’re focussed on doing a good job, and we’re pleased to be playing so well."

"If you look at how hard we’ve worked over the last few months and the good atmosphere in the squad, you can see why things are going so well for us."

"The key to having picked up so many points is having a winning mentality. We might lose the odd game but never that mentality."

"We’ve had four important wins against other top sides, but you play more than just four teams in the League."

Xavi:

"We’re pleased with the win because this is a tough ground."

"They like to play the ball around and work hard just like us. That’s why this is a particularly good win."

"We managed to hold onto things when we were down to ten men. We’re chuffed about four wins against four top teams.”

Sergio Busquets:

"The first half was hard fought and their goal spurred us on."

"When we took the lead we controlled the game until Piqué got sent off, which meant we had to pull back and that’s always dangerous."

"Even though we’ve got a good lead there’s still a long way to go."

"Today Henry was magnificent. He’s a great player and he’s working for the whole side.”

Abidal:

"We played well and we’re happy to be in this good position at the end of the year."

"Villarreal are tough opponents and so the win will really gee us up when we come back after the break."

"We were good enough to score two goals when it mattered and so we’re really pleased."

"We’ve got a good lead but it’s not the end of the season yet. Now we’ll have a rest and recharge our batteries so we can begin next year in the same way."


A week off
The players are off on their Christmas holidays and won’t be back until 29 December. Five players - Alves, Cáceres, Keita, Messi and Eto'o - have the club’s permission to be away until 2 January as they will be heading home for the festive season and their journeys are a lot longer.

Eto’o and Sergio Busquets were the Barça players to take doping tests after the game.

Barça Atlètic have drawn their fourth match in a row away from home and are unbeaten in nine. Rochina and Maric put Barça ahead twice, but both times Sabadell equalised just a few minutes later.

Barça Atlètic held the whip hand during much of the game, but Sabadell never threw in the towel even when they fell behind to a Rochina goal to make it 0-1, nor when Maric struck to make it 1-2, and equalised on both occasions. The 2-2 final score brings Barça another point but leaves them a bit further off the pace at the top of the table.

Two very different goals

After a few minutes of initial sparring, Barça took control of the game from the 10th minute onwards as strikers Rochina, Jeffren and Gai began to up their game. A typically skilful and rapid move led to the game’s first goal from Rochina after some excellent play by Vázquez and Longás.

But just two minutes later Sabadell equalised in the 28th minute. Barça failed to clear their lines and Joel was on hand to beat Miño with a shot just inside the post. The goal had an immediate effect on Luis Enrique’s men who failed to reassert their dominance for the rest of the half.

No chances on the restart

The second half was fairly uneventful for 35 minutes with no clear chances. Javi Rodríguez sent a shot wide in the 60th minute, Longás threatened with a piece of individual skill in the 71st and a weak effort by Gai in the 83rd minute were the only attempts of any note.

Crazy final five minutes

As the game seemed to be petering out to a draw, a mistake by the home side let in Barça Atlètic in the 85th minute; Agustín’s clearance deceived his keeper and Maric rolled the ball into an empty net. Yet Sabadell came back and once again drew level moments later when Miño was unable to keep out Juvenal’s excellent free kick.

In injury time David Córcoles cut off a Sabadell counterattack and was sent off for a second yellow card offence.

Следећа је, ако се не варам, са Мајорком почетком јануара, а онда следи утакмица Купа Краља, против Атлетико Мадрида.

Два конкурента Реал и Виљареал играју једни против других и ако ту буде нерешено, Барса би могла још побећи на табели.

Žervinjo u Barsi?
Barselona je počela pregovore sa Le Manom oko prelaska mladog napadača Žervinja.

21-godišnji reprezentativac Obale Slonovače je prvo sjajno igrao na OI u Pekingu, a sada nije ništa manje impresivan u francuskom prvenstvu

Na prethodna dva meča su bili skauti katalonskog giganta, da bi sada usledila konkretna ponuda za Žervinja, kome ugovor sa klubom ističe 2011.

Pored Barselone, interesovanje su pokazali PSG i Marsej, kao i grčki Panatinaikos, mada se tvrdi da je Žervinjo već odbio mogućnost da pređe u grčkog velikana.

Barsa pobeđuje i kad ne blista

Barselona je na premijeri 17. kola španskog prvenstva pobedila Majorku rezultatom 3:1 i ostala jedini neporaženi tim Primere na svom stadionu, dok je Valensija izbila na drugo mesto savladavši Atletiko Madrid takođe sa 3:1.

Iznenađenje na Nou Kampu nagovestio je Aduric, koji je u 15. minutu doveo goste u vođstvo. Iako nije bilo izglednih šansi, posle pola časa igre izjednačio je Tijeri Anri. On je bio priseban na drugoj stativi, gde ga je lopta pronašla posle centaršuta koji je sproveo Pujol.

Katalonci nisu igrali ni izbliza dobro kao pre odlaska na praznike - Leo Mesi se kasno vratio iz Argentine pa je pratio meč sa tribina - međutim, imali su sreću da Andres Inijesta u 75. minutu postigne gol na svom prvom nastupu posle dva meseca pauze zbog povrede.

Činilo se da je u pitanju ofsajd, ali je lakonogi reprezentativac Španije svejedno poslao loptu u mrežu iz neposredne blizine, na pas Gudjonsena - 2:1. Gosti sa Baleara nisu imali snage da uzvrate, Barsa je bila zadovoljna bilo kakvom pobedom, ali joj se posle isključenja Hozemija pružila šansa da to urade većom razlikom.

Brojčanu prednost ekspresno je iskoristio Jaja Ture, koji je lep dribling u 90. minutu krunisao tek drugim golom od dolaska na Nou Kamp pre 18 meseci.

Barselona sada ima 44 boda, Valensija 32, Sevilja 31 uz meč manje, dok je Atletiko Madrid ostao na 30. Real Madrid i Viljareal uoči nedeljnih utakmica imaju po 29 bodova.

Derbi na Mestalji protekao je u znaku reprezentativaca Španije iz redova Valensije.

David Vilja načeo je "jorgandžije" iz penala u 34. minutu, a David Silva ih dokrajčio pogocima u 39. i 69. minutu. Počasni gol za Atletiko dao je Dijego Forlan iz penala, u poslednjim trenucima prvog poluvremena.
