SOUTHWEST ASIA (AFPN) -- U.S. Central Command Air Forces officials have released today's combined air

power summary.

Coalition aircraft flew 28 close-air-support missions Jan. 8 for Operation Iraqi Freedom. They included

support to coalition troops, infrastructure protection, reconstruction activities and operations to deter

and disrupt terrorist activities.

Air Force F-16 Fighting Falcons provided close air support to coalition troops in contact with anti-Iraqi

forces near Kirkuk.

In addition, seven Air Force and Navy intelligence, surveillance and reconnaissance, or ISR, aircraft flew

missions in support of operations in Iraq. Also, Royal Air Force fighter aircraft performed in a non-

traditional ISR role with their electro-optical and infrared sensors.

In Afghanistan, coalition aircraft flew 22 close-air-support missions in support of Operation Enduring

Freedom. They included support to coalition and Afghan troops, reconstruction activities and presence

route patrols.

Air Force A-10 Thunderbolt IIs provided close air support to coalition forces in contact with enemy troops

near Deh Rawood. The A-10s successfully strafed a building being used by anti-Iraqi forces.

Air Force A-10s and a B-52 Stratofortress provided close air support to coalition forces in contact with

enemy troops near Orgun-E.

In addition, three Air Force ISR aircraft flew missions in support of operations in Afghanistan.

Air Force C-130 Hercules and C-17 Globemaster IIIs provided intratheater heavy airlift support, helping

sustain operations throughout Afghanistan, Iraq and the Horn of Africa. They flew 155 airlift sorties,

delivered 230 tons of cargo and transported more than 3,400 passengers.

Coalition C-130 crews from Australia, Canada and Japan flew in support of either OIF or OEF.

On Jan. 7 Air Force and RAF tankers flew 36 sorties and off-loaded more than 2.7 million pounds of fuel.

Coalition aircraft flew 58 close-air-support missions Jan. 7 for Operation Iraqi Freedom. They included

support to coalition troops, infrastructure protection, reconstruction activities and operations to deter

and disrupt terrorist activities.

Navy F/A-18 Hornets provided close air support to coalition troops in contact with anti-Iraqi forces near

Ramadi. The F/A-18s successfully fired one laser-guided missile against insurgents placing an improvised

explosive device.

Air Force F-16s provided close air support to coalition troops in contact with anti-Iraqi forces near Balad

and Fallujah.

In addition, nine Air Force and Navy intelligence, surveillance and reconnaissance, or ISR, aircraft flew

missions in support of operations in Iraq. Also, RAF fighter aircraft performed in a non-traditional ISR role

with their electro-optical and infrared sensors.

In addition, eight Air Force and Navy intelligence, surveillance and reconnaissance, or ISR, aircraft flew missions in support of operations in Iraq. Also, Royal Air Force fighter aircraft performed in a non-traditional ISR role with their electro-optical and infrared sensors.

In Afghanistan, coalition aircraft flew 14 close-air support missions in support of Operation Enduring Freedom. These missions included support to coalition and Afghan troops, reconstruction activities and presence route patrols.

SOUTHWEST ASIA (AFPN) -- U.S. Central Command Air Forces released today's airpower summary.

Coalition aircraft flew 50 close-air support missions Jan. 19 for Operation Iraqi Freedom. These missions included support to coalition troops, infrastructure protection, reconstruction activities and operations to deter and disrupt terrorist activities.


Navy F-14 Tomcats and F/A-18 Hornets provided close-air support to coalition troops in contact with anti-Iraqi forces near Al Iskandariyah, Ramadi, Samarra and Tikrit.

In addition, 17 Air Force and Navy intelligence, surveillance and reconnaissance, or ISR, aircraft flew missions in support of operations in Iraq. Also, Air Force and Royal Air Force fighter aircraft performed in a non-traditional ISR role with their electro-optical and infrared sensors.

In Afghanistan, coalition aircraft flew 22 close-air support missions in support of Operation Enduring Freedom. These missions included support to coalition and Afghan troops, reconstruction activities and presence route patrols.

Four Air Force ISR aircraft flew missions in support of operations in Afghanistan.

Air Force C-130 Hercules and C-17 Globemaster IIIs provided intra-theater heavy airlift support, helping sustain operations throughout Afghanistan, Iraq and the Horn of Africa. Approximately 170 airlift sorties were flown, more than 230 tons of cargo were delivered and close to 3,500 passengers were transported. This included approximately 6,000 pounds of humanitarian aid air-dropped in Afghanistan.

Coalition C-130 crews from Canada and Australia flew in support of either OIF or OEF.

On Jan 18 Air Force and Royal Air Force tankers flew 36 sorties and off-loaded more than 2.9 million pounds of fuel.

SOUTHWEST ASIA (AFPN) -- U.S. Central Command Air Forces officials released the airpower summary for Jan. 21 to 23.

Coalition aircraft flew 32 close-air support missions Jan. 22 for Operation Iraqi Freedom. These missions included support to coalition troops, infrastructure protection, reconstruction activities and operations to deter and disrupt terrorist activities.


Air Force F-16 Fighting Falcons provided close-air support to coalition troops in contact with anti-Iraqi forces near Al Hawijah, Al Jabal, Baghdad, Balad and Tikrit.

An Air Force Predator provided close-air support to coalition troops in contact with anti-Iraqi forces near Tikrit. The Predator expended one precision-guided munition with successful effects against a vehicle armed with an Improvised Explosive Device.

In addition, 15 Air Force Intelligence, Surveillance and Reconnaissance, or ISR, aircraft flew missions in support of operations in Iraq. Also, Air Force and Royal Air Force fighter aircraft performed in a non-traditional ISR role with their electro-optical and infrared sensors.

In Afghanistan, coalition aircraft flew 18 close-air support missions in support of Operation Enduring Freedom. These missions included support to coalition and Afghan troops, reconstruction activities and presence route patrols.

Four Air Force ISR aircraft flew missions in support of operations in Afghanistan. Also, Royal Air Force fighter aircraft performed in a non-traditional ISR role.

Air Force C-130 Hercules and C-17 Globemaster IIIs provided intra-theater heavy airlift support, helping sustain operations throughout Afghanistan, Iraq and the Horn of Africa. Approximately 185 airlift sorties were flown, almost 410 tons of cargo were delivered and close to 3,185 passengers were transported. This included approximately 25, 000 pounds of humanitarian aid air-dropped in Afghanistan.

Coalition C-130 crews from Australia and Canada flew in support of either OIF or OEF.

On Jan 21 Air Force and Royal Air Force tankers flew 32 sorties and off-loaded more than 1.9 million pounds of fuel.

Coalition aircraft flew 24 close-air support missions Jan. 21 for Operation Iraqi Freedom. These missions included support to coalition troops, infrastructure protection, reconstruction activities and operations to deter and disrupt terrorist activities.

Air Force Fighting Falcons provided close-air support to coalition troops in contact with anti-Iraqi forces near Baquba. The F-16s expended one precision-guided munition against an enemy position with successful effects.

Air Force F-16s and F-15 Eagles provided close-air support to coalition troops in contact with anti-Iraqi forces near Balad and Baquba.

In addition, 7 Air Force ISR aircraft flew missions in support of operations in Iraq. Also, Air Force and Royal Air Force fighter aircraft performed in a non-traditional ISR role with their electro-optical and infrared sensors.

They flew 170 airlift sorties, delivered 335 tons of cargo and transported 3,070 passengers. This included approximately 18, 300 pounds of humanitarian aid air-dropped in Afghanistan.

Coalition C-130 crews from Canada, Japan and South Korea flew in support of either OIF or OEF.

On Jan. 22, Air Force and RAF tankers flew 27 sorties and off-loaded more than 1.9 million pounds of fuel.

Air Force A-10 Thunderbolt IIs provided close air support to coalition forces in contact with enemy troops near Orgun-E and Tarin Kowt.

Three Air Force ISR aircraft flew missions in support of operations in Afghanistan. Also, RAF fighter aircraft flew in a non-traditional ISR role.

Air Force C-130 Hercules and C-17 Globemaster IIIs provided intratheater heavy airlift support, helping sustain operations throughout Afghanistan, Iraq and the Horn of Africa. They flew 160 airlift sorties, delivered 355 tons of cargo and transported 2,730 passengers. This included approximately 43,640 pounds of humanitarian aid air-dropped in Afghanistan.

Coalition C-130 crews from Australia and Japan flew in support of either OIF or OEF.

On Jan. 19, Air Force and RAF tankers flew 28 sorties and off-loaded more than 1.6 million pounds of fuel.
