All The Information For The Match: Three Premieres And Lately There Has Always Been A Winner

[14.09.] Premiere for Evonik Industries at Signal Iduna Park: BVB will be advertising the name of their (new) main sponsor for the first time tonight. Furthermore, prior to the match against Werder Bremen the 1,000 square meter flag, that Borussia Dortmund gave to the fans of the Südtribüne, will be enrolled. And: For the first time in Bundesliga history, a woman will be officiating at the side line. We have compiled the most important information for the match.

Those two will not be able to play today: Frei und Frings both miss the match due to injuries.
Kickoff: The opening whistle for this encounter is set for 8:30PM on Friday at SIGNAL IDUNA PARK.

Pre-Match Comments: One point and four places seperate tenth-placed Borussia Dortmund from six-placed Werder Bremen. With a victory, BVB could make a big jump forward in the tables, move up to the second place for at least 19 hours and make up for the bad start into the season. However, Werder is hard to beat in their away matches: They only lost one from their nine away matches last season.

Personnel Issues: Both clubs suffered from the international matches immensively. Added to that several key players will miss the match. BVB has to do without Weidenfeller, Frei and Kehl. A decision about Dede and Degen will only be made a few hours before kickoff. Bremen has to do without Frings, Borowski, Fritz, Womé and Carlos Alberto amongst others.

Statistics: The last match between the two teams that ended in a draw goes back six years to December 15, 2001 (1-1 at Bremen). Afterwards Werder celebrated six victories, Borussia won five matches. However, BVB lost more often than against every other Bundesliga team (37 defeats). They lost nine times after scoring the opening goal, also more often than against every other club. However, Bremen also lost six matches after taking the lead.

Largest Margin of Victory: BVB conceded 140 goals against Bremen up to now. Borussia scored 113 goals against the North Germans. The Schwarzgelben scored the most goals in one match during the 5-0 home victory on February 2, 1980. In front of only 18,000 spectators at Westfalenstadion Wolfgang Vöge, Theo Schneider (twice), Manfred Burgsmüller and Herbert Hein scored the goals in the largest margin of victory against Bremen.

Spectators: Tickets are still available at all official ticket outlets, the ticket offices outside the stadium open at 4PM. Approximately 80,000 spectators are expected. A sold out stadium is unlikely.
