“The Frog” pavilion is the most voluminous project to emerge from the Norwegian group MMW’s obsession with inflatable structures. For some years, in Oslo, to coincide with exhibitions or cultural events, bubbles of various sizes have occupied the muffled Scandinavian architecture scene, disturbing the old and great and irritating the younger practices for their sickening opportunism.

MMW occupies temporarily the site of the future National Museum, celebrating, as well as their own ego, the centenary of the birth of the Norwegian state and the exhibition “The Art of Transformation”. The pavilion “The Frog” is a pneumatic structure that is based on the difference in pressure between the outside and inside (around 0.01 atmospheres) maintained constant by a large ventilator that emits fresh air inside the structure.

The walls are in PVC, green on the outside, white on the inside for projecting films and images. The other part of the installation “The Harmonica” is a semi-permanent building that will house the museum whilst the new building is under construction.
