Arsenal plot late move for £15m-rated Toon ace Cabaye

Arsenal are considering a £15million move for Newcastle midfielder Yohan Cabaye as Arsene Wenger looks to bring in two players this week.

Though the Arsenal manager ruled out a move for Cheick Tiote, his clubmate Cabaye is understood to be on a list of targets which also includes Rennes midfielder Yann M'Vila. Wenger is also keen to bring in a defender.

Wenger said: 'I'm pleased with what I have, but yes I anticipate that we will do something. Defensive midfielder? It depends on the quality of the players available. Tiote is a good player, but he's not on the way to Arsenal.'

Newcastle have yet to receive a bid for Cabaye. However, an offer of £15m may not be enough as there is little time to bring in a replacement.

Newcastle boss Pardew said: 'All my players are important, and they are hard to replace now. You lose a big player now and you try and take someone out from somewhere else and they want a replacement and time is suddenly running down. You can't get anyone in and we want to avoid that.'

Manchester City and Tottenham are also keen on M'Vila. If Arsenal cannot secure a replacement for Song, one of their current players is confident he can fill the gap.

Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain would love to establish himself in the centre of the park.

'Alex Song was a great player for us and he was a big player for us — but we’ve got a strong enough squad,' he said.

'I’m definitely confident of that and I’m definitely confident of filling Alex’s role.'

Most Arsenal fans would agree the team definitely need a boost, with no goals scored in either of their two Premier League games.

However, they will be pleased with the defensive side of the team's displays because they have not conceded any either.

Ok, ipak je prešao. Bilo mi je čudno to što si mi rekao, ali rekoh danas je sve moguće. Očekivao sam ga u Londonu, pa zato sam se malo iznenadio kad ga videh na tribinama Enfilda. Srećno mu bilo.

 

 

Ako Venger ne planira da kupuje nekog napadaca onda prodavanje Bendtnera nema smisla... Zar ne?

Arsenal's Theo Walcott sparks interest from Manchester City and Liverpool after rejecting new contract

Liverpool have already made an inquiry for Walcott while Manchester City have asked to be kept informed of developments and are expected to make their move later this week.

Formal negotiations between Walcott’s representatives and Arsenal were held last Friday at the club’s London Colney training base, and despite further communication on Tuesday, a proposed new contract worth £75,000 a week remains unsigned.

Walcott had wanted closer to £100,000 a week to move into a similar pay bracket as his fellow England internationals but Arsenal’s attitude is that the offer represents a fair improvement on his current £60,000-a-week deal.

The club do not intend to make an improved offer and, if Walcott does not change his mind, they are willing to sell to the highest bidder. Wenger has already said this summer that he does not want to keep players who allow their contracts to run into their final year and he will not sanction a salary offer that he regards as inflated.

There is still hope at Arsenal that Walcott will sign a new contract but, if there is no agreement over the next 48 hours, Wenger is relaxed about sanctioning his sale. With Walcott into the final year of his contract, Arsenal would consider offers starting from £11 million. The Telegraph first revealed in February that Walcott was playing for his future following six mixed years at Arsenal.

Arsenal chase Afellay but miss out on Niang as Lansbury leaves



HAVING turned down the chance to sign Nuri Sahin from Real Madrid on loan, Arsenal are reportedly in line to snap up Dutch international Ibrahim Afellay on a short-term deal from Barcelona.

Speaking on Dutch football show Studio Voetbal, Afellay's agent Rob Jansen revealed that his client is seeking a move away from the Camp Nou. That will be music to the ears of Arsenal, who have long been linked with the 26-year-old attacking midfielder.
 
Afellay arrived at Barcelona at the start of January 2011 but a niggling knee injury has restricted his game time. Now Jansen has admitted Afellay wants to relaunch his career away from Spain.  "We are talking about a loan move here," he told Studio Voetbal. "It all depends on Barcelona though… we are in talks with several clubs."

Tottenham, Liverpool and Newcastle are believed to have expressed an interest in the Dutchman, as have Inter Milan, but Arsenal are the strongest contenders to sign Afellay.

Meanwhile the Gunners are also said to be stalking Ajax left-back Nicolai Boilesen. The 20-year-old Danish international is apparently being chased by Arsenal and Southampton with Danish website ekstrabladet.dk claiming the Saints have already offered the Dutch club £5m.

Are Arsenal about to come in with a bid of their own? As yet the young defender is pleading ignorance, saying: "I have not heard anything about it yet. Someone from the Dutch press told me about it 10 minutes ago that is all I know right now… but I am very flattered if it is true."

One player who won't be heading to the Emirates is much sought-after striker M'Baye Niang. The 17-year-old Caen forward had a trial at Arsenal earlier this summer and so impressed Arsene Wenger that he put in a bid for the player, however it was turned down and the teenage sensation has now joined AC Milan.

Goal reports that his transfer has been finalised and even suggests that the disappointment of missing out on the striker could be tempered if the Italian giants also decided to take Nicklas Bendtner off Wenger's hands.

And talking of players surplus to requirements at Arsenal, it seems that the Gunners have decided to offload England under-21 international Henri Lansbury to Nottingham Forest for £1m, according to The Daily Telegraph. Lansbury has been with Arsenal since the age of nine, but his fate will not come as a surprise after he spent the last two seasons out on loan.
