Metal Gear Solid for iPhone in the works?

Want some good action games for the iPhone and iPod Touch? Well, so do I, but they’re not here yet. Although, this situation looks like it will change fairly soon, if what’s written on this supposed scan of the latest issue of Famitsu Weekly turns out to be true.

The scan shows a photo of the iPhone (or at least, something that resembles it) with what looks like the user-interface of an all-new Metal Gear Solid game. Yep, I can just barely make out that gun there. If only my machine-enhanced knowledge of the Japanese language were any good, I would have read out the words here to you.



However, aside from this teensy bit of image scan, there are no more details regarding Metal Gear Solid for the iPhone (Metal Gear Solid “Touch,” if you will) available elsewhere. So we’ll have to put this under the rumor category, for now.

 Iron Fist, the World's First Boxing Game for iPhone



Get ready to rumble! Realtech VR is going to release Iron Fist, the first 3D boxing game on the iPhone, and it should hit the App Store soon. As you can see, the 3D graphics are great and you can choose between 16 characters (4 at first, 12 will be unlocked during the course of the game).

Because it is a 3D game, you can choose between several camera angles and have automatic snapshots of the action. But final victory is not all - an "achievements" system will also track how many points you have scored.

The price has not been set yet, but keep an eye out for that one. If you are curious, the Realtech guys were part of the demoscene and then worked for various game companies.

Konami confirms Metal Gear Solid for iPhone, along with Silent Hill and Dance Dance Revolution

What did I tell you? Metal Gear Solid for the iPhone is indeed in the works. And not only that, in a press release issued by Konami today, it was revealed that aside from MGS Touch, Silent Hill Escape, Dance Dance Revolution and a game called Frogger was also scheduled for release on the iPhone platform very soon.

Starting late this month, Konami will make a total of 4 titles available for the iPhone, including the latest Metal Gear Solid, which will be Metal Gear Solid Touch (described by Konami as “an original game that brings to life the world and characters of METAL GEAR SOLID 4 GUNS OF THE PATRIOTS (MGS4)”.



The game Metal Gear Solid Touch will have 8 stages initially, providing users with direct control through the touch panel, and additional stages are to be added later.



Meanwhile, a first-person-shooter in the form of “SILENT HILL The Escape,” a Tap Tap Revenge competitor in the form of DanceDanceRevolution S Lite, and a simple game about frogs crossing roads called Frogger are also lined up for release.

All these games will be made available starting late December in Japan, North America, and Europe (except DanceDanceRevolution S Lite which will only be made available in Japan and North America). We’ll certainly be looking forward to making reviews of these new iPhone games from Konami, and so should you. See you in a few weeks, then.

Mobile Spy Hits iPhone - SMS Text Messages and Phone Calls No Longer Private



And you thought your down-low phone calls and sly SMS text messages were private.

Mobile Spy, the mobile phone “monitoring” application previously available on Windows Mobile and Symbian platforms, has finally hit one of the biggest smartphone successes of 2008. The Mobile Spy application is now compatible with the iPhone and iPhone 3G. Retina-X Studios designed Mobile Spy to run unnoticed in the background - after all, what good is a piece of snoop-ware if the user knows it’s there?

The Mobile Spy app keeps track of all incoming and outgoing phone calls as well as SMS text messages. The data is then secretly uploaded to a private account for later analysis.

“Mobile Spy is a priceless piece of software. After having some doubts about honesty, this really helped set the record straight and confirmed my suspicions,” says Derrick, a Mobile Spy user. Retina-X Studios CEO James Johns states, “The iPhone has quickly become the most dominant smartphone all over the world. Before now there was no method to monitor activities of children or employees on the iPhone. Being the first to develop this technology, we will continue expanding with new features for this tool including GPS location tracking and email logging.”

Retina-X Studios says that their Mobile Spy software is intended to monitor children and employees. But, with the ability to run silently on any iPhone or iPhone 3G, we can see Mobile Spy being used for more nefarious means.

Case manufacturer gives further hints on an iPhone nano

That earlier leaked photo of the iPhone nano was surely a fake, or at least photoshopped, but iPhone case manufacturer XKSN just refuses to let the rumor go to rest.

A newly created section on its official site has just been put up and explicitly labeled “iPhone nano,” which many believe is supposed to be a category under which iPhone nano silicon cases will fall into. Otherwise, it would be a very bad and sick joke, especially to Apple fans.



However, this does not mean that there is indeed an iPhone nano for sure. No one knows the motives of iPhone case manufacturer XSKN for doing this. Perhaps it just wants all the extra attention, but it should be noted that it had also leaked information on previous Apple products (such as the iPhone 3G and 4th-generation iPod nano) which all turned out to be true, a few months back.

Currently, XSKN’s web site is down. Could be the traffic from all the buzz this iPhone nano rumor is delicately creating, but one thing’s for sure: this is just as likely as the $500 Apple netbook.

World’s first software unlock of iPhone 3G caught on video



The hard working guys over at the iPhone Dev team have finally did it - the software unlock for the iPhone 3G is ready and will be made public on New Year's Eve. And best of all, it will be free as usual. To prove they have the real Mccoy, a member of the Dev-Team has published a video of the actual unlocking.

The iPhone Dev-Team have been working on a software unlocking method for iPhone 3G since Day One and they are finally ready.

For the time being, the method, codenamed yellowsn0w, requires command line operation, but the Dev-Team promises a nice looking graphical interface for inexperienced users. The tool will be available for download on New Year's Eve. 3G or not 3G is no longer the question.

The Dev-Team are obviously planning on distributing the software via the unofficial third-party software repository Cydia, so you'll need to jailbreak the iPhone first to gain access to it in the first place.

Unfortunately the only iPhones to benefit from the unlock, are those with baseband ver. 2.11.07 or earlier.
