UP TO 50 people were injured when a Qantas Airbus carrying more than 300 people made an emergency landing in Western Australia.

The flight - QF72 from Singapore - made the landing at Western Australia's Learmonth Airport before 4pm AEDT after what has been described as a "mid-air incident'',  PerthNow reports.

Police said about 50 of the 300 passengers on board the Airbus A380 had been injured.

Pilbara police are making their way to the airport to launch an investigation, but it is not known at this stage exactly what happened or the circumstanced leading up to the incident.

Police Media's Inspector Wayne Silver told PerthNow that the flight had landed safely, but preliminary information suggested there had been some sort of  "instrument failure'' and turbulence.

Insp Silver said there were reports of passengers sustaining severe lacerations and broken bones.

He said there were varying reports on the number of injured.

A spokeswoman for the WA Health Department said staff from Exmouth hospital were at the airport assessing people's injuries.

An emergency services worker said paramedics had boarded the Qantas aircraft and were tending to the injured.

A witness said emergency vehicles and ambulances had surrounded the aircraft.

Qantas recently launched a campaign to repair its damaged reputation after a series of safety scares.

Izgleda da je Quantas imao dosta incidenata u poslednje vreme (nije bilo poginulih itd, ali imali su nezgodacije, ocigledno). A sto se tice Airbusa 380, nov je avion i pitanje je koliko su piloti istrenirani. A to da je ljudska greska uvek u pitanju, pa generalno jestejer sve je covek konstruisao kao i kompjutere, a kompjuteri isto mogu i da zataje.

Ne znam, jos nista ne objavljuju u ovom slucaju, no dobro je da je sve proslo bez pogibije.

Ukratko, a-380 je nepredvidjeno sleteo na jedan aerodrom u Australiji, nakon incidenta u vazduhu (kakvog, ne opisuje se - sta se desilo u vazduhu ne pise). Od 300 putnika povredjeno je oko 50.
Avion je sleteo, odmah je okruzen vatrogascima, hitnom pomoci itd.
Istraga je odmah zapoceta.

Dozens Injured in A330 Event Near Perth


7 October 2008: On 7 October 2008, a Qantas Airbus A330-300, with 303 passengers and 10 crew members on board, was on a scheduled international flight from Singapore to Perth. While in cruise, the aircraft reportedly experienced some type of sudden and unexpected altitude change. The crew issued a mayday call before diverting the aircraft to the airport at Learmonth, near the town of Exmouth, about 1100 kilometers or 680 miles north of its intended destination of Perth.

About 36 passengers and crew members were injured, with over a dozen severe injuries. Reportedly, several occupants were slammed into the ceiling during the event. Most of the injuries were to passengers and crew in the rear of the aircraft, and at least one person was carried off the plane in a stretcher. About 13 of the most seriously injured were flown to Perth by four aircraft from the Royal Flying Doctor Service. One flight attendant was hospitalized with suspected head and spinal injuries. Other serious injuries included fractures, lacerations, and a concussion.
