On 1st October 2008 GRIAZEV Vasiliy Petrovich has gone. He was the greatest up-to-date designer of guns and small arms, the Hero of the Socialist Labour, the Russian Federation and the USSR State Prize winner, Full member of the Russian Academy of Missile and Artillery Sciences, Russia Engineering Academy, Doctor of Technical Sciences, Professor, Chief Designer of KBP in the field of guns and small arms.

GRIAZEV Vasiliy Petrovich graduated from the Tula Polytechnic Institute and devoted all his life to the development of weaponry for the Motherland defence. His creative work was extremely diverse and extended from the 9 mm GSh-18 pistol to the 100 mm 2A70 gun.
Currently all domestic aircraft and helicopters are equipped with automatic guns developed by Griazev Vasiliy P. in collaboration with Shipunov Arkady G. (weaponry of the GSh family).
The weapons designed by Griazev Vasiliy Petrovich are in extensive use with the personnel of Land Forces, airborne forces, securities, law enforcement forces, etc. They are also used in air defence systems and for anti-missile defence of ships. All samples of small-size artillery weapon developed by Griazev Vasiliy P. are in service with the army of Russia and other countries. Generally these weapons outperform their foreign counterparts.
More than 30 types of weapon systems are designed under his direction of Griazev Vasiliy P. and with his personal assistance.
Griazev Vasiliy Petrovich was a scientist with a God-given talent, a wise member of the scientific and technical council. He was a grate master and tutor who brought up dozens of pupils who will proceed with the work of their Teacher.
Russia lost one of its prominent sons. Today we grieve over irretrievable loss. We pay respects to the relatives and friends of the deceased.
Vasiliy Petrovich will live in our hearts and minds as a real patriot, citizen of Russia, a Man of strong will, striking capacity for work, wit firm inner discipline, a goal-seeking person wholly devoted to the work.
