SA-16 GIMLET (Igla-1 9K310) man-portable surface-to-air missile system, a further development from the SA-7 & SA-14 series, is an improved version of the SA-18 GROUSE, which was introduced in 1983, three years before the SA-16. The SA-16 feattures a new seeker and modified launcher nose cover. Whereas the the SA-18 9M39 missile is fitted with an aerodynamic spike on the nose, the 9M310 missile of the SA-16 has the spike replaced with an aerodynamic cone held in place with a wire tripod. On the SA-18 the protective cover of the seeker is conical, on the SA-16 it is tubular with a prominent lip at the forward edge. The 9M313 missile of the SA-16 employs an IR guidance system using proportional convergence logic, and an improved two-color seeker, presumably IR and UV). The seeker is sensitive enough to home in on airframe radiation, and the two-color sensitivity is designed to minimize vulnerability to flares. The SA-16 has a maximum range of 5000 meters and a maximum altitude of 3500 meters.


Juce je oborila F-16 i 3 Helikoptera u Iraku.Inace avion se nalazio na 15000 Stopa (5km) visine,a helikopteri na 900m.

Ovde ti pise (boldovao sam) da je max. visina 3500m, sto je mnogo ispod 5000m na koliko tvrdis da je leteo F-16, ne tvrdim da nije oboren ovim sistemom, ali uz ovakve podatke, malo verovatno...

Oboren je sa njim,jer pobunjenici koji su skinuli avion(cak je i pilot poginuo) su ostavili SA 16 iza sebe ....valjda da bi brze bezali.
Kao i rupa na trupu koja odgovara,SA 16....inace to je mator sistem,al sam ga izvukao bas zbog ovog dogadjaja.Tacno domet je 3500 ,a skinuo je na 5000m ......u tome je i poenta postavljanja.Evo sad i na CNN-u potvrdjuju..........sta da vam pricam.

A US F-16 fighter aircraft has gone down near the city of Fallujah in western Iraq.

The US airforce said the plane's pilot was missing and an investigation into the cause of the incident had been launched.

However, and Iraqi journalist said local residents had reported seeing the F-16 being shot down.
   
Muthana Shakir, an Iraqi journalist in Baghdad told Al Jazeera: "We got credible news saying at 2pm on Monday a US F-16 warplane was downed in al-Garma neighbourhood near the western Iraqi city of Falluja."
   
"The warplane was downed over arable lands. Witnesses confirmed that the plane was fired on by gunmen's rockets when it was flying on 4000m+ altitude."

William Caldwell, a US military spokesman, said he would be surprised if the jet was shot down as the F-16's fly very fast and have not encountered any weapons capable of taking them down in Iraq.
A spokesman said that the aircraft was lost while it was flying in support of ground operations taking place in Fallujah.

US troops are reported to have surrounded the crash-site.

I dalje sam skeptican za visinu nakojoj je leteo, posto u izvestaju kaze da je svedok dogadjaja rekao da je avion leteo na visini od 4000+ metara. Ne znam za irak, ali u mome selu niko nema laserski daljinomer pa da moze da odredi visinu aviona 
Salim se, ne sporim da je unisten ovim sistemom, samo sam skeptican za visinu i rezim leta aviona, moja pretpostavka je da je ipak leteo dosta nize kada su ga nagazili. Osim ako je gadjano sa neke planinske cuke, sto bi objasnilo celu stvar.

Pazi Igla da gadja na 5000m ,je stvarno skepticno......ali ko ce ga znati 100% ....mozda su doradjivali  ili kao sto si i ti rekao gadjali sa brda .
